Hey guys! I am looking into buying a new wedge set 52, 56, 60. I currently have no 52, a Macgregor 56, and a Cleveland 60. I was looking at Cleveland's new CG14 Black Pearl wedges, with the gel insert, but I have yet to hit one. I want a matching set of wedges now and am thinking Cleveland is the way I want to go. Has anyone heard of good things in regards to the new CG14's or should I just go with the 900 Form Forged?
Please help me with your opinions. I am trying to gear up for spring.
I can get the CG14's for $240 brand new (all 3)
or
I can get the 900 Form Forged for $170 in good used condition (all 3)

Thanks!

I recently switched from Cleveland 588 Tour Action (52, 56, BeCu 60)to Titleist Vokey 52 and 56.

It was more a personal preference but I would highly recommend taking a look at either set if you are looking to outfit your whole line of wedges. I chipped in from 20-60 yards 10 times last season from various lies since I made the switch. With my Clevelands I probably did that same feat only it took 3 times as long. I don't know much about the new wedges that have come out but I say go with whatever works. My 588s were really close to the 900s and forged wedges are never a bad thing in my eyes. Check out the Vokeys too

I haven't hit the CG14 but in my experience, the CG10 were a far better club than the CG11 and CG12. I say go Vokey!

I took the plunge and purchased the Cleveland Form Forged Gunmetals. Just purchased the 52* and 56* though, my rusty lob wedge is holding strong. I will probably try to give them all that "oil can" look though.

There is nothing wrong with that set-up. Many of the Cleveland guys play the 900 and/or 588 dsg. You can look at their set-ups here.

    • There are some little things here and there — the shoulder turn is a bit flat, and the arms move around you a bit too much too. Take a look at this video:
    • I've developed a serious case of the shanks and difficult to control push fades/slices with my irons lately. I used to draw my irons pretty consistently. I currently most draw driver. Also, I don't like how my elbow sometimes pops out from down the line, especially with driver and/or if I'm trying to hit it harder. I can control the elbow a lot better with irons, but quite difficult to have good contact and speed while controling it on driver.
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 2 years My current handicap index or average score is: 30 My typical ball flight is: push fade with iron The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push fade/slice and shank with irons Videos:
