Something interesting was brought to my attention yesterday. I saw a guy who played GOLF Pride DD2s in his woods (soft), Golf Pride MCCs in his irons (med) and tour velvet cords in his wedges (firm). I understand where he is coming from, because wedges need more feel than a driver for the most part, but It still seems a little unorthodox.

Does anybody else use different grips on different clubs? Why?

I play different grips on my irons, but not intentionally. My wedges and woods were bought "off the shelf", while my irons were fitted, so I was able to put New Decades on them. When I get the chance, I will also put these grips on the other clubs.

The tour velvets on the wedges work great, but I have not hit my Vokeys or MPs with the New Decades, so I can't comment on the differences. But you're right about a difference in feel with the wedges, and in theory, this would be a reason to try mixing. For me, though, I would prefer a uniform grip for all clubs (except the putter, of course).

There is no way I could play different grips on different clubs, because the feel is everything to me.

I am a feel person also, therefore I keep all the grips the same (except the putter of course). Used Lamkin for the past 3 seasons, but trying the Golf Pride Multicompound this year. The important thing whatever you do is to make sure the grip fits your hands. For me it is one extra wrap of tape or about +1/64 over standard.
