shot an extremely disapointing 46... driving was absolutely horrendous. putting was similar to driving. overall could have easily taken 5 or more strokes off. too bad, cant wait for next time...

Has anyone tried these Taylormade clones?
boots1302 replied to Newcomer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
think about the amount of money you are going to spend on clones. if you are serious about golf you will want a new set in a year and a half probably. why not spend the money now to get a good set that you probably will be spending in a year and a half anyway. you dont need high end equipment to get good at all, but i think there are 3 turns you can make...2 good one bad. the 2 good being used clubs, or new low end clubs from a reputable company. one bad turn would be "clones" like these. The pinemeadow are very nice, but what your looking at is no where near that in my opinion. The adams set you posted would be a perfect starter set. goodluck. -
Finally a new putter on the horizon.
boots1302 replied to Canuck's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
although neither are horrible choices, i strongly recommend the protype 82. I just purchased one earlier this month, and after getting used to the insert face...i have fallen in love. Every stroke is 2x as pure as the softest milled face. I love the soft feel, it makes me very confident in all areas of my putting. in my opinion the protype gets the nod every single day, softest best feeling putter around IMO. Just takes a week of decent practice to get used to the insert face (unless currently using another odyssey with similar insert) and once you are used to it, the ball rolls like a beauty every single stroke. When i miss putts now, i know its me and not the putter. either way im sure you will be happy with your decision, heel shafted is the way to go. -
i think he meant average SCORE per GIR is 3.8? could be wrong. thats what i misunderstood as well.
-
when making contact with the ball, try to overexagerate a rightward push, but dont forget to roll your hands after impact. feel like the club releases way to far to the right. solved my problem, been hitting a mini draw ever since.
-
if i were you i would really focus on hitting fairways, even if that number only goes up by 10% you will see a huge improvement in your game. Also your putts per GIR needs to come down to around 2 if i am understanding that correctly. focus on making the most out of your GIR's and dont be dissapointed with the challenge of going up and down, as its not as hard as some people make it out to be.

lengthen shaft or get completely new shaft?
boots1302 replied to Statella43's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
yea how tall are you? an inch and a quarter is a lot of extra length. tall people are taller so you would think they need longer clubs, but their arms are longer as well... therefore the distance from wrist to ground does not directly correlate with height. Maybe you just have short arms though haha. Im 6-4 and my clubs are all 3/4 of an inch taller. -
a rescue club and a hybrid are the same thing, different companies have chosen one or the other, and stuck with the name. I think right now taylor made and maybe one other company use the name "rescue", while most others use "hybrid".

Check this kid out on youtube. I have played golf with him before...his youtube username also suggests he is a golfer haha. http://www.youtube.com/user/ProV1XXXV

if you like the feel of the forged wedge better, then go for it. some people get cavity high irons, forged blade style low irons (7,8,9,pw) because they enjoy the feel of the forged blades. If you can hit the forged blade well, keep it. thats what i would do. but surely do not put a random ping 6 iron in the middle of your nike iron set.
-
i would stay with the full cavity's throughout the whole bag. They will look better, and once you get to know your clubs, you can depend on every one hitting the same way. I wouldnt want to worry about having to know how each different club performs.

yes, however some scotty people are crazy enough to hunt down, and pay for the tour stuff. Im sure that grip probably costs 5 dollars to make at most, if it was not a tour grip scotty would probably charge 30-40 dollars. because of the tour designation people buy it, not because they think it performs any better, solely because its very rare and a tour only product. Some scotty tour headcovers sell for over 1500 dollars...and thats just the headcover. The rare putters get into the high single digit thousands. Crazy thought for us non scotty players, but some love collecting these so much they are more than willing to pay that for an extremely rare putter.

I recently switched from finger down shaft to normal interlocking grip, and it has also done wonders for my putting game. It has made me much more consistant with my distances and with hitting the sweet spot every putt.

i use taylormade pentas, and i fill in the "O" of "taylormade" with blue sharpie. never had any issues with identifying my ball.
-
Right off the bat i see two things that i think could improve your game tremendously. #1 your left foot on the takeaway, and #2 the beginning of your downswing. If you try to keep your left foot planted it will result in more accurate shots, in the 9 iron face on section of the video, you can see the heel raise off of the ground, then re plant itself in a different position, this creates consistancy problems. try keeping your heel planted, less of a sway in backswing. and another small issue is you come over the top on your downswing. Focus on letting your hands fall on your downswing, then feeling like you swing across the ball more to the right. it will create a little sidespin and give you a nice 5 yard draw, as well as make it easier to make crisp contact every time.

How can a pro shop be cheaper on everything?
boots1302 replied to Wet Doggg's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting

Titleist driver; is the 910 worth it?
boots1302 replied to eagles14's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have one, and like it a lot. Hits it nice and long for me, and feels better/different than every other driver i have used. it seems soft in the face allowing for better feel. Thats just my opinion of it, never hit the 909 so i couldnt compare it to that, but i am happy with the choice i made. -
getting fitted for irons saturday
boots1302 replied to creedm66's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I hit every one of those, and ended up with the jpx-800's. i liked them the most at the time, the ap1's and the jpx'800 pros were a very close second, and if i had to do it again i would have gone with either of those instead of what i went with just because they felt better, just didnt have the same shot good shot pattern as the normal 800's. my swing has improved miles since my choice, thats why i would have gone with the more players irons. -
i have a 910. i weigh 150lbs, stand at 6,3" and use a daimana 'ilima 61 shaft. i have trouble getting the ball high into the air, so i got the shaft that gave me some help. i fly it about 260 and roll out to 275 when the fairways aren't soaking. I love the shaft i went with, its a great club shaft combo. i suggest it if you have some trouble with ball flight.
-
i would take that deal in a second. The range deal alone i would pay 500 for. Sounds like a no brainer to me, but depends on how often you play.

played 9 with a guy who had a turf management degree from stanford, and was the head grounds keeper at many very nice courses throughout his career...very interesting man, learned more about grass in 2 hours than i ever expected to in my entire life. I now appreciate the time that time goes in to maintaining a golf course, and will always replace my divots and ball marks haha.
