  1. I just dropped by my local Edwin Watts to have the lofts/lies of my irons/wedges checked. I noticed this past weekend that I really seem to be hitting with the heel causing the club to turn over. Anyways, I had the guy check the loft/lie first and he said they were within standard spec. Then he asked me if I'd ever been actually fit for them. I purchased these used and never had so I said why not. He takes my 6 iron, puts tape on it, and we find out that I need 2 degrees flat. He bends the 6 iron and hands it back and viola, dead center. That was the end of the fitting. I'll be picking up the rest of my clubs tomorrow. My questions is, is it normal to get fit only with a 6 iron? He didn't have me hit any of the other clubs. Is this because they were all standard so if one needs to be 2 degrees flat then all of them need the same? Thanks.
  2. What's the point of replying to a reply on posts from August?!?
  3. Congratulations! As to your question below, I'd say that's fairly typical. Par 5s afford you the ability to hit one or two errant shots yet still get on the green for a decent attempt at par. Par 3s and 4s don't really give you as much leeway. At least that's how I've felt as I've progressed. As you get more and more consistent with your shots, you'll see those go down as well.
  4. I found this video helpful:
  5. I love mine. I'm not a low handicapper by any means, but found them very easy to play. I managed to buy mine for $250 via Craigslist and thought it was a heck of a deal for the shape they were in.
  6. As in, what qualifies a person to be "religious"? I've known people people that have used this as a descriptor because they believe there is some "entity" out there somewhere or simply because they attend church every Sunday but don't really believe there is a God. So my question to you was, what makes you "religious". As can bee seen from this link: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/religious it can vary quite a bit from person to person.
  7. Mind elaborating? I hear and see people say this quite a bit, but I'm never quite sure what they mean. Does it it mean you go to church/mosque on a regular basis?
  8. Wow...setting up for a nice flame fest hmm? How odd, someone actually BELIEVES in their faith. Shocking. The US is obviously the only place this happens...
  9. I'd imagine it's in the case you leave you club somewhere?
  10. Where is your aiming point in that video? At first glance, it looks like you're setting up fairly closed, which probably leads to a fairly consistent draw and or hooks/duck hooks. Is that right?
  11. http://thesandtrap.com/t/53587/did-kevin-na-balk Not a stroke since he checked his swing.
  12. Mind telling me how much it ended up costing? I have a trip to Myrtle Beach coming up and would rather not try to travel through the airport with my clubs in tow.
  13. Bizarre
  14. I can of take from that email that they are doing on the side. They thought they could do it on nights and weekends and handle the volume, but apparently they can't. I still dislike that one of their reps specifically said the items would be worth $25. That shows a problem with communication and when you're talking about a small operation to begin with, it's more than a little frightening. I can appreciate what they're trying to do. By switching to an "invitation" only model they're hoping to drive up interest and make the customer base small. I don't know that it will be successful, considering the bad coverage they've received so far. At the end of the day this was more of a feeler to try and see if they could salvage any business. The intent is obviously not an apology.
  15. What kind of trajectory are you getting? Low? High? Does it seem to just balloon up? If you have a lot of spin on it, it's probably ballooning on you causing you to lose distance.
  16. I actually just checked this myself. I'm going to be in Myrtle Beach this month and scheduled a full bag fitting for $90. If nothing else it will tell you if you are using the right shaft/loft and if you should be playing longer/short clubs.
  17. Good point. I suppose you'd really only use this on the range. Great idea, I might have to go get some.
  18. I've wondered about this before. Wouldn't it affect the ball flight/spin?
  19. I was recently told by a playing partner that my left shoulder should never be higher than my right. I know this is incorrect but since he insisted, I did a little googling and came across the following article: http://perfectgolfswingreview.net/AddressSetup.htm It seems fairly comprehensive and from what I can tell, is fairly accurate so I figured I'd share.
  20. I believe it qualifies as using training aids during the course of a round. After all, the tee is no different than a person using a set of alignment sticks. Therefore, it'd be against the rules. I believe it'd fall under: 14-3. Artificial Devices, Unusual Equipment and Unusual Use of Equipment
  21. Without a ball and a clear target you're aiming at it's hard to tell what you're doing. More likely than not, you're now slightly open to the target.
  22. Typo on my part, meant to say "pull fade". It seems I was mistaken however. Thanks Erik.
  23. It seems counterintuitive to me that a pull draw would promote a lower ball flight. I've found that having the face open relative to the swing path tends to promote a higher flight. Then again, that may just be me. Edit: Heh, meant to write "that a pull fade would promote a lower ball flight"
  24. I just figured this out for myself last night. For me, it was that I was using too strong of a grip. About midway through my round, after pull hooking almost every drive/wood, I realized I had started using a really strong grip. For some reason this seems really easy to do with the long clubs. Next hole, I made sure to use a more neutral grip and presto! No more pull.
