1. We do an annual event we call the Advil Open - there is a golf property in the area with 3 great courses and we play all 3. One is links style, one is parkland and one is what they call a Carolina style course. So, start at 7 am and finish about 12 hours later. It's crazy, awesome, painful and incredibly fun all at the same time. And to be honest, once a year is enough
2. Watching the game and if game 1 was any indication, this will be a great series!! For me, if the Jays aren't in it I'll go with the Orioles. Who's your pick from the American League and why? Play Ball!!!!!!!
3. Did the same thing. Ditched the 15 degree 3 wood and put an 18 degree 5 wood in as my fairway. Easier to hit consistently and I don't think there's much of a difference in terms of distance.
4. Was looking at booking a tee time tomorrow morning. Forecast is 3 degrees at 8 am, or about 37 degrees F. Haven't played for a couple weeks, but looks like cold gear season is here.
5. Obviously there are a lot of variables, but you have to keep up with the group in front of you - I hate being backed up and seeing the offending group with hole(s) open in front of them . Most rounds I play will be between 4 and 4.5 hours depending on how busy things are. Have played in less time when conditions are right, but a round of golf shouldn't take longer than 4.5. Most courses I play are 8 minutes between tee times with rounds of 4 hours. I don't understand guys that lose it in the hay and want to search for 5 minutes. That's 5 hour round material.
6. Just kept mine at the 10.5 degree setting, but it'll adjust either .6 or 1 degree up or down. I'll experiment with it a bit next year at 11.5.
7. I voted no. Phil had to realize that his comments would come across as highly critical of Watson and his approach. I appreciate that may be how he felt, but it wasn't the right time or place.
8. Alternate shot might be an interesting format for a PGA Tour event - random pairings as well. Could be an interesting week if they ran an event under that format. It'd be fun to watch.
9. Summer officially ends tonight. Let's hope we have a long, warmish fall before the arrives!
10. They don't call it the No Fun League for nothing
11. I'm currently playing the Penta TP3. Bought quite a few last year on sale - buy 2 dozen and get a 3rd dozen free. Pretty good deal on what I think it a very good golf ball 3 piece ball with urethane cover. Good all around ball for both distance and short game.
12. Big payday. Pretty sure everyone in the family would agree as well.
13. I'm pretty sure it's 4. I can remember taking 3 penalty strokes quite a few times, but I do recall one round where I dunked a few in a row but I don't recall exactly how many it added up to. Hell, maybe 5.
14.

That's pretty bad for TV . . it's rare to get an angle that shows how ugly the shot really is. Made me think of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM6NjM_zmEQ This one's even worse.
True but his reaction was perfect. Laugh it off and move on. Golf is hard.
15. Sounds more like an insane asylum than a country club.
16. I have 2 at the moment, a SC Newport 2 that I've had for 3 years and a TM Spider counter balanced, a mid sized mallet that I just put in the bag a couple months ago. I've been through a lot of different putters over the last few years.
17. 23 degree hybrid & 8 iron for me.
18. Interesting. I hit it straighter more consistently when I tee it lower. I must have this issue. "Tee it high and let if fly" doesn't really work for me.

NBA vs NFL

Between the 2, NFL is preferable, although I'm not a devoted fan and sometimes the excitement level is pretty low. I'll follow my favourite team (Buffalo Bills) and watch if there is an interesting match up between 2 good teams. As for the NBA, it was pretty cool when the Raptors were in the playoffs last year and I did watch a few of their games, but generally I find the NBA a tad on the boring side until they get to the last few minutes of the game.
20. G30 driver - had a chance to demo one for a round and really liked it; G30 18 degree 5 wood that I can loft down to a 4 wood as well; Taylor Made counter balanced Spider mallet; 1 dozen Srixon tour balls for my son; Actually that's been over my last few trips to Golf Town. All done........for now
21. I believe it's about the grooves on the wedge. I read that the Z grooves had 10% more volume than the Y grooves. Check this out: http://golf.about.com/od/equipmentreviews/ss/equip_030608a_5.htm
22. Rory - what a shot!!
23. Phil!! That was HUGE!!!
24. Phil the Thrill. WOW. This is amazing
25. Amazing eagle by Rory!! This is absolutely insane -amazing stuff!!
