  1. I've played Fairfax numerous times. I am not a big fan of the course because it seems like they made the course fit around the houses which makes for some seriously strange and short holes. The first hole is a par 4 but extremely short with the oddest drop off I've ever seen. I also don't like the fact that the course doesn't have a true 'turn' i.e. - you don't see the clubhouse until you're done. That sucks. I am a big fan of Coffee Creek and Rose Creek with a few rounds of Silverhorn thrown in.

Nobody ever said you should. This isn't Reservoir Dogs and you're not making too much sense with your McDonald's payscale theory. Nobody is asking you to 'feel sorry' for anyone. However, the fact remains that there are jobs in this country where people are paid less because the majority of the job pays out in tips. Are there going to be people that don't tip? Sure. Then why did you feel the need to bring it up? If you started this website with the theory that it was paid for by its users, then it would be understood. If you now just started expecting everyone to 'tip' you then I doubt you would see much money, if any, coming in. I'm not trying to be a prick here but honestly, you asked the question. I just feel that people that take advantage of a situation and don't tip someone and then convientently claim that that this whole 'tipping thing' has gotten out of hand, is a cop out. Again, my opinion. I fall on the side of it's perfectly fine to tip and that's my choice.

I guess what I don't get is the "don't touch my clubs" mentality. I mean, I can understand it if I took my clubs to say, a demolition site where I would expect someone to not really care about the condition or the value of my clubs...they're there to destroy things. But when you pull up at a golf course and their representative asks me if they can carry my bag, why not? What are they going to do, steal something from it? Drop my bag and scatter my clubs all over the parking lot? Pull them out and whack them against the clubhouse? More than likely, I would think...no, I know they know the value of clubs so why the "hands off" policy? Oh, and yes -- I do tip anyone that provides a service to me regardless of small or large. I was in the industry for 8 years so I know what making a couple of bucks can mean. This is where I believe that every single human being should be forced to work in the food or hospitality industry when they're young. I watch people treat tipped employees like dirt. They're not YOUR servants, they're there to provide a service of which a large portion of their salary depends on tips. Lastly, yeah -- they get paid. No, it's not much.
  4. $1 Wolf per hole, $5 closest to the pin on par 3's but you must be on the green and make par.
  5. Not worrying about what I am doing. Relaxing and just having fun. When I start to spin out of shots and spraying them I have to remove the thought about getting super pissed and getting in my head. I know that I have to go back to my basics. Posture, hand and feet and follow through
  6. My Boomer Sooner (OU) magnetic ball maker that resides on the bill of my cap.
  7. If I am playing by myself, I love clipping on my iPod and playing all 18 listening to my favorite hair bands from the 80's (Motley Crue, Van Halen, etc.)
  8. Happiness is...playing through a slower group and absolutely ripping a crushed drive right down the pipe and the accolades that come as you walk off the box
  9. I paid $130 for three indoor lessons at Golf Galaxy. If you have a side job, save the money and at least get a beginner lesson. The thing I liked was that he videotaped my lessons and e-mailed them to me which I then transferred the video to my Samsung Blackjack. The cool thing is when I am having a bad day on the course, I pull out my phone and watch my lessons as a brush up.
  10. Playing a quiet round with my wife in the cart on our anniversary this year. It was a colder than normal day but still nice and we got out on the course and it was just us. Great talk and I was hitting the ball really well which she got a charge out of. Close second: Par 5 on the back nine of Lincoln West. Perfect drive off the tee which rolled up to almost 300 leaving me about 224 in. Pulled out the hybrid and just tattooed it and ran it up to within about 8 feet. Putted it out and walked away with my first eagle. THAT rocked.
  11. Two words: Take Lessons. I went for years golfing with bad habits that I picked up and compensated into my game only to live with a lot of frustration and high high scoring rounds. Within my first lesson my instructor eliminated a lot of my bad habits and I enjoy this game much more.
  12. Novato High School, Novato CA Class of 1988
  13. If I am having an off day and not shaping the ball very well I just play through it. I don't try to correct anything because I will be over thinking and it will just get worse.
  14. Where the flap on my glove laps over and velcro's shut, right in that little groove I have a tee. Don't know why but I have done that for 17 years of playing.
  15. For humor it has to be Caddyshack hands down. Overall golf movie I could watch over and over and over...Tin Cup.
  16. Here in OKC our summers have seen 100+ degree days for over 15 days straight. I think if it broke 120...I would have to seriously consider playing after 6pm whien it cools down to a balmy 115. Otherwise, I am on the course regardless.
  17. Being an Okie it goes without saying that I am psyched to have the Championship returning to Oklahoma and Southern Hills. I wanted to 'volunteer' from the e-mails that I was getting from www.golfnow.com but the benefit of 'volunteering' was going to cost me $180. I wanted to do it but I didn't want to pay $180 and be the guy that gets to drive Sprites and Cokes from the catering truck to the umbrella tent in the parking lot My question is this, would you pay to be a 'volunteer' for a PGA event? With no guarantee to meet any of the pros and wind up working whatever job is put on you and miss the tournament?
  18. Man, it would be hard for me to give up my Tommy Armour's. They are the best hitting clubs I have ever had, and that's saying something.
  19. Sadly, they watched every "America's Funniest Home Videos" moment. I knew this not because I turned around to see...but the volume of the laughter behind me.
  20. Mine was a "greatest moment/WORST moment" - So there we are on the 10th hole tee box (par 4) I pull back and let one go. It comes out good but gets too high in the wind and runs into a grove of trees on the right hand side. Get to the ball and I am looking at 150 yards, between two trees with limbs hanging everywhere. Oh yeah, did I mention the two incredibly hot women playing their second shot on 18 and right by me? You know where this is going. They were waiting to hit their second and decided to watch how I was going to get out of this one. I dip my shot which comes out like a rocket right between the trees, flies up with a hard right flight and lands...3 feet from the hole. YES!!! The girls are both telling me what a great shot it was and as I am walking toward the green looking back and giving my winning smile...I walk right into the tree, the club head hits flat and pushes the shaft of my club into my baby maker...I limped for the whole back 9 and nursed my ego back to health. Yeah...best shot/worst result
  21. 10 courses so far this spring/summer. By the season end I hope to bring that up to about 20 including a round in the Caribbean!
  22. "The person with the fastest golf cart will always have the best lie."
  23. I absolutely love golfing by myself. Don't get me wrong, I really like playing in a group but throwing my iPod on, listening to some insane music and just enjoying myself while walking a course (I don't ride when I am alone) the music, the scenery, the silence...can't be beat.
  24. I have 9. I guess you can say, I am addicted
  25. Hello world. Eric Richardson here from Edmond, Oklahoma. Looking forward to this apparent active forum.
