  1. The ball was in play. Correct. Let´s not bring any red/yellow in this as it has nothing to do with ball being in grass. When there are some colourful lines, it makes things more complicated.
  2. Until this is really done, it is all just "I believe"s, "might"s, "guessing"s.
  3. Was the ball lost? If it was then it is stroke and distance, i.e. penalty and retee. It does not matter if it was lost in OB or just in fescue. If the ball was not lost and it was not OB, then he can continue from there. It is not lateral hazard if it is not marked as such. If it was lateral hazard (red stakes/line) then there are more options than just 2 cl. So was it OB or not?
  4. I thought you meant that all long distance drivings are rigged somehow. This was a final between couple of guys, to create a spectacle. 99.999% of LD competitions are done on flat ranges. I have heard that PGA likes fairways hard to make drives longer, why is that?

I do find it pretty amusing how amped these guys (and announcers) get, though. As I said: Quote: Originally Posted by luu5 Only elevated ones I have seen are those demonstrations done at stadiums. As long drivers themselves say: Quote: The adrenaline-drenched RE/MAX WLDC Finals have been described as “golf’s greatest spectacle.”
  6. Does not look elevated to me: Only elevated ones I have seen are those demonstrations done at stadiums. And wind machines? Come on.
  7. Quote: I usually play the White Tee's and with woods usually on both sides it makes things very difficult indeed. This would be the first course I would recommend to anyone going to Riyadh on Business (I don't think there are tourist visas given)! I never had a chance to play at Dirab while living in Riyadh. I played once(?) at Arizona Golf Resort 9 hole course where friend of mine was resident. I was total beginner that time so it was fine. Then I moved to Kuwait and joined Sahara Kuwait Resort. There I played for about one year and enjoyed it very much. The course was great, although lack of trees inside the horse track makes it look hmmm interesting. It is only 4h drive from Dammam... edit. Sahara is also lighted, but they close at 11pm I think. In Kuwait there is (was?) also one sand golf course with browns instead of greens. Never played there but it was cheap...
  8. No-one really thought so, I am sure.
  9. Thank you for this. I got interested in this and read the First Deed (1857), the Second Deed of Gift (1882) and the final Deed of Gift (1887). They just talk about the Cup. I do not deny that it could have been referred to as America's Cup from very early stage. And later amendments (since 1956) to the Deed use America's Cup as a name of the Cup. There is no mention in the "rules" as far as could find, about calling it Finland´s Cup if we won it, unfortunately....

It makes sense. No right minded golfer (unless they're called Poulter) would want to antagonise a crowd who are in turn capable of getting on their back. I do wonder if Azinger lost his own Open chance at Kiawah in 1991. He got targetted in RC's after that and never won a full single point again I agree, whatever worth it is Wikipedia has this (with some references): Quote: In Britain the tournament is best known by its official title, The Open Championship. The tournament's website uses only this name, while British media generally refer to it as the Open (with "the" in lower case). [15] [16] [17] Outside the UK, the tournament is generally called the British Open, in part to distinguish the tournament from another of the four majors that has an 'open' format, the U.S. Open , but mainly because other nations with similar 'open' format golf events refer to their own nation's open event as "the Open". Until 2014, the PGA Tour referred to the tournament as the British Open, [18] and many American media outlets continue to do so. [19] [20] However, in 2014, with the new Open Qualifying Series that selects players for the Open through finishes earned in various PGA Tour events, the PGA Tour has taken to referring to the event as The Open Championship for the first time. U.S. television rights-holder ESPN / ABC referred to the event as the British Open until 2004. For the 2005 event at St Andrews, both then-cable rightsholder Turner Sports and ESPN/ABC began referring to the tournament as The Open Championship, and have ever since. I did my extensive research (two clicks on ESPN), and found out that they 99.99999% use only The Open (Championship). Only in one "link hint popup", I saw British Open.
  11. Did he pass or was it just across ropes? Did it happen after 18th or actually during the round? So many questions...
  12. Rule 6-6 give some urgency to sign the card without a delay. Also looks like organizers (tours?) have given instructions to not sign autographs before getting scores in. Non issue, some tissue (for the kid).
  13. But he could be longer with better accuracy...
  14. I think this discussion is more about rules affecting our (amateur) play, not rules by commercial entities for their employees/contractors.
  15. ESC is not in RoG... But anyway what about people not keeping HC, i.e. 90%(?) of golfers in US?
  16. How many times you are in a divot in one round? Probably not even once. I do not know what is wrong with the courses I play, but I have not been in a divot during my last 30 rounds at all.
  17. I saw sand collapsing and I saw her building a stance for the left foot. Why did she not just accept the fact that the bank was too steep and step on the sand after first try? No, she just kept moving more and more sand. There was another occasion where a player stepped up and down few times on sand with her right foot, it might have been Ahn again, not sure. The rest of your text was cut off intentionally.

Quote: Any mark placed by the player or with his knowledge to indicate the line must be removed before the stroke is made.
  19. This is interesting point. As scramble is not played under (full) RoG, why would it affect amateur status?
  20. I hope OP has managed to stop skying the ball during the past 5 years.
  21. Could be breach of rule: 27-2a/3 Play of Provisional Ball in Absence of Reasonable Possibility Original Ball Is Lost or Out of Bounds Q: In the absence of reasonable possibility that a ball is lost outside a water hazard or is out of bounds, may the player play a provisional ball? A: No. If a player plays a ball under such circumstances, the ball is not a provisional ball but the ball in play – See Decision 27-2a/2.
  22. So if there is a group happy playing 6 hour round following another slow group, they do not have to let anyone through? One big problem is that one group not willing to pass another one causes the jam.
  23. Of course faster = farther. But still the club head speed will decelerate at the hit. As long as the ball mass > 0 it will happen.
