I'd say that a beginner (myself included) should work on their irons first. I think the driver is the last club that you should even try to hit. But if you are already hitting it over 200 and straight then I'd say that you are ahead of most people starting out.

That's where you went wrong.

Wouldn't you hook the ball if you were left handed too? Instead of hooking to the left it would hook to the right. Still a hook.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Shaving 10 strokes off my game makes them extremely pretty to me.

I just have a problem with thinking of Nike as a golf club maker. I'll use their clothing and shoes but it just doesn't feel right to me to look down on a nike swoosh on a club. My buddy plays the slingshots and they look absolutely disgusting. I play Callaway Big Bertha. I think my next clubs will be the X-20. Golf is really about feel and confidence. I just think Callaway is geared exactly to a player like me.

I won't wear sandals unless I'm going to the beach. It just seems to unmanly for me and unsafe. What if you have to run for some reason? What if you have to get into a fight? And the sight of feet is disgusting.

Let him try out the callaway big berthas. You can get the 2004 model for around $300-500. I got my set, 4-pw graphite shaft for $330 on ebay. They are extremely forgiving.

Golfers worry too much about other people. Just play the course, who cares what someone else shoots or does. Play any other sport and all you'll hear is trash talk and gamesmanship. Why do you feel you must prove you can beat someone? I'm more worried about trying to beat my best score.

+12 on a little par 29 9 hole. It was about 100 degrees out here today. The course was almost empty, I played 9 holes in 1 hour.

I took the driver out of my game. IF and thats a big IF I hit a good drive it would go 230ish. Problem was it almost never went straight and sometimes even if it did go straight it would only travel about 200. I'd rather shoot my 4 iron 175 yards and straight. The next club I'm going to really try to work on is my 3hybrid. I figure if I can learn to hit my hybrid around 190 or so then I'll take that and work from there.
