  1. If you want a green-like surface to try and stick it to, why don't you buy one of the mats they sell for hitting balls off of. The one's that are like 2'x2' or so. Just toss that out there and aim for that. Then you still have a fairly small target to aim for, and you can see how much spin you're getting on the ball.
  2. I have to say, that's one of the best things about being left handed. No one wants your clubs. I've left my PW and my 60 on the side of a green a couple times and the group behind us usually drives up in their cart with it, that or I go back and get it.
  3. I can't see where there could possibly be a big performance difference between the 2. It's all about the feel preferred by the person using it. The putter is probably the club in the bag that is influenced most by personal feeling. With the others there's a visible difference in performance (distance, spin, etc), but there isn't anything like that with a putter. With the putter it's all about how you think it feels when contacting the ball, and how confident you are when you're standing over the ball getting ready to make that stroke.
  4. I tried out the Top Flite D2 Straight today, and I think I've found my new ball. Shot my new lowest round (101) with it. I think I'm going to try the D2 Feel next, and then decide between the 2. I got my box at Target for $15 for 15 balls.
  5. I prefer blades mostly because I think the mallet style putters are goofy looking. I've tried both and couldn't really tell a difference. I guess it's also a habit thing. I've used blades since I started playing.
  6. I haven't seen them in any stores yet
  7. From what I've heard, Alice Cooper is probably the best musician/golfer. Doesn't he play a round every day?
  8. I think you're confusing 'attractive' and 'hot'. Hot just means "holy crap look at her". It doesn't have to mean she's nice to talk to, or has a good personality, or anything else. Hot is strictly eye candy. Attractive is the girl you want to hang out with, has a good personality, and is good looking. Attractive is the girl you can take home to mom. Hot is the one you show up at a club/bar with just to impress your friends.
  9. I would have to agree entirely. Gulbis is the hottest female golfer, hands down. In my opinion, of course.
  10. Douglas S. Freeman High School Richmond, VA Class of 2002
  11. GT - jaqattack02 I used to play R6 Vegas on there sometimes. Although if anyone has TW 07 and wants to play around, I'd be willing to give it a shot. I've never really tried that one online.
  12. That's crazy. That deal for the Mizuno's makes me want to go hit some garage sales. Of course if a guy came out saying he didn't actually want to sell them, I'd probably give them back. Since every one asked, here's the original picture. I posted it in one of the "Gulbis vs [insert other LPGA player here]" threads.
  13. Sounds like a good idea to me. If no one is using anything, then they don't have anything to worry about. At least golf won't have to worry about having someone pull a Barry Bonds and use drugs to help them get some kind of new record.
  14. Natalie of course...
  15. I'm not him so I don't know his exact reason, but I would suspect it's because when you're on the course and want just stick a club back in the bag and get moving again you have to stop and take the time to find the proper hole, and get the club in there. Personally, I like my Ogio Grom bag for both walking and riding. It's got their "Woode" pocket system, where there are individual holes for the woods, and then group pockets for irons and wedges, and a spot for the putter. It works well, keeps things organized, and there's the nice big pockets for the irons so you can just toss it in and get rolling.
  16. Interestingly i have almost an opposite problem. My scores tend to be very consistent from front to back, usually within a stroke or 2 of each other. Unfortunately they are consistently bad. I'm still working on breaking 100. But I think what helps me stay consistent is what someone else already mentioned, playing the round one shot at a time. You have to get over that bad drive you just made, and concentrate on making that shot out of the rough a good one.
  17. It helps a bit to change your mindset when you're on the course. When I go out to play golf, I go out to have a good time with friends, get away from the stresses of home and work, and just enjoy a morning/afternoon outside in the sun playing a game I like to play. If you go out there trying to compete (even if it's just against yourself) and get it in your head that you just have to do well, or something is wrong, you're going to get stressed about it. Instead of going out there with that mindset of competition and stress, go out to enjoy your time on the course. It makes it alot easier to just let those bad shots go. You'll end up less stressed, and as a result, you may even play better. Another thing I'll do that helps is to try to point out the good side of a shot. If I hit one off the tee that slices off into the rough, instead of thinking 'darn, I hit that one in the rough,' I'll think, 'nice, I don't have to go off into the woods to find that one'. That's helped me a good bit too.
  18. I've been curious about that too. I currently own and play a set of old TM Burner Oversize irons I got from a friend of a friend for $50. I really don't know whether I want to stick with these for a good while, maybe getting them re-shafted, or if it would be worth it to get something new. At the moment, since I hit them pretty well, I've decided to stick with the Burners at least until next year sometime.
  19. I would say golfers are athletes. Being in good shape and being an athlete don't necessarily have to be the same thing. As far as NASCAR goes, they may be athletes, but I still have a lot less respect for them compared to other race drivers. I just can't see where they are in the same league as F1 drivers, rally drivers, or other drivers that do more than make left turns all afternoon, in terms of driving skill. Although some NASCAR drivers do participate in other racing events outside of NASCAR. Also, from what I've heard, the physical demands of driving a NASCAR car are much less than that of an F1 car, which is what the above blog post is referring to.
  20. I've considered going either 2 or none so I don't have the stupid looking one glove tan
  21. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
  22. I'm looking to replace the stock graphite shafts that are in my Burner irons. Just in going by the Shaft Playability Factor I'm not sure where I fall in one of the areas. My swing speed with my driver is pretty much right at 89-90mph, which puts me at 3 or 4 on the SPF flex code. The others are pretty easy. I need both distance and control, so B. I don't have trouble getting balls in the air, but I do sometimes hit them a little low, so a medium trajectory, or 2, and I rarely slice or hook with my irons, so thats a M. So with all that, I'm either a 4B2M or a 3B2M, and I'm not sure which. The problem comes from the fact that most shafts I'm looking at a 3 is usually a regular stiffness, and a 4 is a stiff. I'm not looking for anything terribly expensive or top of the line, somewhere in the $10-$15 per shaft area. One of the shafts I found that falls into my requirements is this one CER FW70 . Does anyone know much about them? Most of the cheaper offerings from Aldila and UST are supposed to help correct for slice. The Grafalloy offering doesn't correct for slice, but does look like it's a high launching shaft, which I don't really think I need. So, opinions anyone?
  23. I'm not a junior, but what I want to know is how all of you 17 and unders afford things like club memberships and the expensive clubs you have listed in your sigs. When I was 17 and under, I had no where near enough money to afford any of it. The only reason I can afford to golf now (I'm 23) is that I have a full time job.
  24. I just got my hook figured out at the range today too. It was all in my grip. When I would grip the club my hands were twisted to the left a little, so after my back swing the club face would be slightly closed. I adjusted my grip so my hands were straight (thumbs lined up and pointing straight down) and I went from hooking and shanking to the right to knocking them right down the middle. I think I may have overdone the adjustment a bit though, because after a few shots, my slice started showing again. I'll have to tweak it a bit next time.
