How to properly take care of forged irons
Ghetto P replied to jswang519's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Head covers are the worse thing you can do to them. Traps in moisture, makes 'em rust. Just let them be free and enjoy them. -
Ping G15's AWT R flex. Do their web fitting for lie/lenght. If you're going easier, go really easy!
-
That stinks. NEVER loan out your woods. EVER!

If I had time to practice and play I'd go to a pro. But people I see that go to pros aren't any better than people who don't, but they get angrier when they mishit. I figure I only play a couple times a month and don't practice so I have zero expectations and am able to enjoy myself on the course. In fact I'm playing the best golf of my life right now because I figured out I just have to keep it on the course and I'll at least get a bogey. I'll have one triple a round, a birdie or two and shoot low 80's. If I could eliminate 3 putts I'd shoot upper 70's. Why go see a pro? Now, when my 4 year old took up the game I bought a package of group lessons through a female PGA pro for my son, my father in law, and myself. Totally useless to me and my father in law but my son learned a classic golf swing and is a terrific little player now. I think for kids or somebody just starting out finding a good pro is essential. But in my situation where I don't maintain a handicap, probably play less than 20 rounds a summer, don't even carry 14 clubs, I doubt it would help anything. I would like to putt better though. Not awesome, just no more three putts. Then I'd play people for some $$$.

I'd dump the higher lofted wedges unless you really practice with them a bunch.
-
keep the x-14's. Those are awesome sticks.

vista pro if you can find one.

Get a set of Top Flites. You should be able to get the whole set for under your budget and they're actually half way decent starter clubs. Just make sure you get steal shafts and not graphite. I just played with a guy who was killing 'em. -
www. custom works golf .com He's at 44 and Jefferson. Nice guy. He sells knock offs though and I don't think he's a KZG/Wishon guy, but I know he's cheap for grips and should be able to do lie adjustments. Bring your gun and don't leave any valuable in your car. LOL!!!

should it stay or should it go?
Ghetto P replied to ynvmygp's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Have a Fuji Vista Pro put in there. Regular flex. It's tip stiff and will play about the same as most OEM's stiff shafts. You should be able to get it installed for around $60-$80. -
"Big" Glue hole in Callaway FT-5
Ghetto P replied to the_saint_siwa's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Call Callaway. When they're done laughing maybe they'll send you a new driver. Couldn't hurt, huh? -
I had a couple BB07 fw's last year and I called Callaway seeing if they had some other type of head covers I could buy from them that weren't so foo foo. They sent me two full sets of headcovers for free. They have excellent customer service.

Pelz has a pretty compelling argument for dropping the long irons and adding more wedges. You semi pro plus handicap types probably aren't missing greens that much and play an entirely different game from a double digit duffer. My game requires all the help I can get from 100 yds and in. Honestly, I could get rid of all my clubs except the driver, 8 iron and wedges and shoot about the same as I do now. And yeah, I left the putter out on purpose. I'd sink just as many using my driver.
-
Do you have graphite or steel shafts? My problem is the graphite shafts are a little too whippy in the short irons for me. I was going to sell them but I'll probably just have the short irons re-shafted.

$18 was the cart fee. http://www.crescentfarms.com/page/65...ews_page=16954 They have a special going right now that I didn't see on their site. I think it's $250 to join instead of the usual grand, and you don't have to pay monthly fees until April. I did the preview thing with a friend last year but I'm pretty new at golf and I can suck just as bad at Deer Creek for $20.00. Check out the deal at Annbriar. http://www.annbriar.com/memberships.html If I joined anywhere it would be Annbriar. Cheaper, better facilities than Crescent, and I really like the layout. Plus cart is included in that price. That's the best deal in town. Mo Bluffs has been trying to go private for a while, and they're semi-private now. Not sure what will happen with the whole reciprocity thing if they go completely private.
-
Did you do the Walters membership deal? I almost joined Crescent last year just to be able to play Mo Bluffs for $18.

TEE 4 wood is as long or longer than any 3 wood I've tried and much easier to hit off the deck. You can get 'em brand spankin' new for 110 shipped too.
-
I was wondering about your handle and then I looked up in traffic and saw 427 and put two and two together. What's your regular course?
-
I'd try that 4 wood again. You'll spend less money and a lot of golfers have trouble with 3 wood off the deck. If I had to do it over I'd dump my Rapture 3w and Cobra 5w and just bag a 4w. I'm not that consistent that it makes a shittin' bit of difference which wood I grab anyway.
-
G5 and Tour Edge. I'd get a G10 4 wood and forget the 3 wood and hybrid since the QL's are hybrid irons.
-
I recommend you get a 4 wood!
