Jack won 12% of his starts on the PGA Tour. Tiger has won 28% of his starts on the PGA Tour (and Tiger really only plays in events with top fields). End of discussion. It's a little embarassing to think Woods hasn't blown by Nicklaus. If you want to hold out until major #19 is in the books, that's fine. Don't ignore that Tiger has absolutely destroyed Jack. You want to make the argument Tiger has better equipment, that's fine. I'll make the argument Jack's equipment was better than Bobby Jones' and Walter Hagen's. Same with the level of competition. 12% vs. 28% - no contest. Tiger could go winless for his next 350 starts and still have a 12% winning percentage.

I've attended dozens and dozens of tournaments over the years. Tiger wouldn't even make my Top 20 list for guys that act out on a golf course. I've seen players snap clubs over their knees, throw their golf bag, tell fans off, get in the face of their competitor, throw clubs etc etc. Every shot he takes is on television. There are rounds he doesn't do anything - there are rounds where he'll swipe a club, pound a club, or say "Dammit Tiger" 2 or 3 times. Trust me - he's not close to having the worst temper. Some of you guys with the "this is a gentlemen's game" bullshit should get off your high horse and go watch Wimbledon.

When did Miller make that statement? Was it a few years ago? At the time he made that statement....if you put a ball 15 feet from the cup, put a gun to Johnny's head and told him to pick someone to make that putt, he'd choose Woods. And that tells you how good of a putter he is, and has been. Some of these older guys like hanging on to the past with the Ben Crenshaws and other "great putters" - but when push comes to shove, it's not a debate.

Poor advice. I would recommend wearing soft-spike golf shoes if you're attending a tournament as a spectator. It makes navigating the hills and terrain much easier. Also, it only takes a little bit of rain to make grass really slick. Golf shoes are a must.

Yeah, I agree. It'll be at least another 8 or 10. He's got 10-12 years of prime golf left. His majors come in bunches. He'll get tight when he has 17. After he gets 18, the flood gates will open. I don't know if he wins this coming week - but he just threw up back-to-back 65s on the weekend. Tiger, at age 33, has completely obliterated Jack at age 33. There is no reason to think Tiger won't tool Jack's career from 34 to 46....and beyond. Don't you get the feeling Tiger will win a major in his 50s? I say he wins 125 tournaments (because he'll play even less once he gets to 18 majors)...though 140 or 150 isn't out of the question if he keeps a 18-20 tournament schedule. And I think he wins 28-30 majors. And the argument that Jack had to deal with all of these Hall of Fame golfers, is hollow. The number of Hall of Famers, and all-timers, that come out of Tiger's era will be just as good, and probably better.....it's just that those guys won't be retiring for 20 or 25 years.

Couldn't agree more. He got real loose with his driver in the middle of his round today but recovered nicely. Plus, he and Tim didn't exactly have much of a gallery following them today. That will be different tomorrow. If I had to bet, I'd say he shoots 74 tomorrow. And Tiger, aside from his last 6 or 7 holes today, was still missing putts and catching some unlucky breaks on approaches - he rarely goes 4 days without putting it all together. And got pretty firsky pulling driver a little more today and finding the fairway with it. If he puts the ball in play with the driver - he's had a huge advantage.....he pretty much gave everyone a 30 yard advantage off the tees by hitting 3W for the first 45 holes and he's in the final group. Unbelievable.

I've played the Black a few dozen times in the last 10 years - but not yet this year. I'm a 10-12 handicap and it is an absolute chore to break 95 from the whites (or wherever they have the tees set for the day - they only put tee markers on one tee box). I have no interest in playing the tips - there are 8 or 9 holes where you need to be 260-270 off the tee from the true tips. It's no fun. The course kicks your ass from start to finish - no one, especially a 15, needs to screw around with the tips. And drove by 1 green, 17 tee, 16 green and 15 tee today.....immaculate.

I don't think it was Tiger or Stevie - I think it was Feherty (think him standing with his handheld mic at his side). The second it gets ripped, Tiger lets out a nice laugh.....listen closely at the :09 second mark, you can hear Tiger chuckle (just fix the link when you paste it) Whoops - now seeing Tiger "wafting" just before the camera cuts away from him makes me think it was Stevie.

He just hit a 5-wood 275 under a tree and it never got more than 20 feet off the ground. Gulp. I hope Tiger goes out and plays 26-28 tournaments one year just to see what happens. 15 wins, 24 Top 10s and maybe $25 million?

Senden turned pro 17 years ago and has career PGA earnings less than $9 million and finishes in the Top 10 less than 10% of the time. He's not a good ball striker.

Wie's played as consistent as anyone this year - it's deserved. She's still a kid - get the feeling once she wins one, she'll start rattling them off. She's getting to an age where some of her "handlers" won't be needed.

As long as you don't include him striking a ball with a putter.

You have to pick your spots. It's not a great spectator sport. I've been to 3 US Opens (two at Bethpage, one at Shinnecock). You definitely have to have a bit of plan - for instance, if you want to get decent views of Tiger, you need to stay 3 or 4 holes ahead of where he is and you can usually get a great spot near a green or a tee box - I prefer the greens. You can certainly plant yourself at holes for several groups. If you go and don't have much of plan I think it could be a long day of standing 10 deep on some holes and seeing little golf. I've always had a great time.

Why is Tiger no longer dominating like he used to?
soup replied to senorchipotle's topic in Tour Talk
Tiger's Nike contract allows him to make club changes - no matter the supplier - without cause. He can use whatever clubs he wants. As for Tiger - I think he's changed his mentality to be a more consistent golfer - he's looking to "own" his swing. The way he was playing 8-10 years ago was more of a "grip-it-and-rip-it" style - so when he was "on", he blew people out of the water. Who knows what goes on in his head - I'm of the opinion he doesn't play enough. It seems he is down to 14 -16 events compared to playing 21 - 22 events. Over the last 3 or 4 years, he never appears to play enough to get into a groove - a competitive groove - and is seemingly behind the 8-ball come Thursday night. Additionally, he seems to play to par wayyy too much - again, that may be what it looks like because of his focus on "owning" his swing and course management. -
Not your finest moment - you just referenced an article between two guys that have a total of 3 friends, combined, on tour.

Here are couple of articles http://golf.about.com/b/2006/01/26/p...-hated-man.htm http://www.worldgolf.com/blogs/alan....q_hates_phil_m Also, I think there is a neat dynamic between Mickelson and Tiger - you've got Mickelson who is all lovey-dovey with the crowd and media but is despised in the lockerroom and you have Tiger who is very reserved in front of fans and the media but is loved in the lockerroom. At The Open on Friday - 15 tee was backed up with 3 groups the entire morning. As Tiger came through, there were two groups ahead of him on the tee - I was sitting in the first row of the bleachers right behind the tee box. He got along great with everyone on the tee box, joking around, laughing - seeking guys out, guys seeking him out - he had what looked like a funny conversation with Justin Leonard - and then after Leaonard hit his tee shot, Tiger was was bent over laughing to which all 9 guys erupted in laughter, including Leonard (who had just ripped a 10 handicap looking draw about 238 yards down the left side). You don't see that with Phil.

I've never been a Mickelson fan. However, this week, I watched him sign about 2,000 autographs during the Wednesday practice round and just have a great time with the fans all week. He really knows how to connect with people as long as there is a rope separating them. However, the face Mickelson puts on for the media and the fans is much different from the way he acts behind the closed lockerroom doors. He's one of the Top 5 douchebags on the Tour.

WOW! Talk about a letdown...Worst major I've seen, so far
soup replied to Three Putt's topic in Tour Talk
Not exactly an "easy" course, even with the wet greens. 5 guys under par, 4 under wins it. Dry course, typical LI conditions and 5 over would have been lucky to win it. 2018 or 2020 Open back at Bethpage. -

That's not what the guy posted - he claimed Tiger has never comeback from being down by a shot. He said nothing of 54 hole leads or deficits. The guy is an Els fan with an agenda against Woods. -

It was obvious you didn't remember and you looked like a fool. Tough spot for you. -

That wasn't your point. It's plain as day what you were saying. -
Glover lays up off the tee - which will give him the same approach he has hit all week into 18 (not a bad idea), however if he gets a gust of wind or pulls/pushes it with a 6 or 7 iron, he could get into trouble. Barnes is up close - could we see birdie/bogie to force a playoff?

That's an unfortunate post by you - embarassing, actually. Think back one year ago. Tiger down one shot on the final hole and roles in a 12 foot slider for birdie to tie and force a playoff. You should go find another board to post on. -
All guys in his position will come off sounding like a douche - but he's paid to give his opinions and make observations, and I take more from what he says than someone like a Curtis Strange.

Local TV had Tiger laughing at the "put the umbrella down comment". Again, you guys obviously have an agenda against New York and are looking for anything to complain about.
