  1. Got the MP-54's this year and love them. Fitting process was great and the clubs are excellent (when I am playing worth a crap). Had the Burner 2.0's before and could not work the ball to save my life. Not that I am great at it, but when I am swinging well I can hit a draw or fade on command with these things. Plan on having them for at least the next 3-5 years.
  2. Who knows but maybe Foley had something to do with this as well. Maybe he told Tiger he is going to bow out to take some pressure off both of them and allow him to focus more time with his other students. He already got the fame that goes with teaching Tiger so he can now move on to other things. Tiger has a host of his own issues he needs to fix far outside anything Foley brought to the table or other instructors can provide.
  3. I just need to worry about getting the ball in the fairway and make more putts. My issues on the course are pretty easy to figure out. I can see this being a great tool though for those who play often and have good games and just need that extra info to help them work on weak spots they may not be aware of. That said, I am a sucker for cool tech and will probably get one.
  4. Needs to call Michael Breed. He can put on that stupid water inflatable thing and his other ridiculous "aides". Bet that will fix his issues.
  5. Tiger now endures the struggles that many of us do except at an elite level. He is simply too mechanical focused on the course and does not just play golf like he used to. We can debate about what is causing his injuries, but the fact is he has hit an infinite number of golf balls over his lifespan at very high speeds and after awhile it takes a toll on your body. All of the greats have had their problems as they age and Tiger is no different. JMO, Tiger needs to rest his body the rest of the year (although he said he is going to play in December). He needs to work extensively on stretching and taking some of his bulk off to allow his body to move more freely like it did when he was younger. He needs to check his ego and change his game. At one time he was the master at the short game and he needs to get back to it. He can hit it plenty long and allow his short game to do the rest. Forget swing coaches and just do what he feels comfortable doing and allow his experience and talent to take over. Most importantly, he needs to play more. He is not good enough now to just show up at majors or huge tournaments and beat these young guns who are extremely talented and have razor sharp games. Tiger is the most talented and accomplished player of the modern era. He has the ability to continue to be great but he has to do things differently if he is ever going to make a run at Jack's record. My feeling is he will continue to be Tiger and will find another swing coach who will mess with his swing and he is taking on another 2-3 year swing change. Father time is ticking and he just does not have the time now to continue to keep changing swings.
  6. Played in a charity event a few months ago. 4 man teams and one mulligan each player. I am a 13, two were scratch, and the other around 16. We shot a 58 straight up and thought we had won it. These guys hit it long and we Eagled all the Par 5's. I had a great putting day and sank several birdie putts. Another group of all mid handicappers come in and turn in a card with a 55. I was surprised but didn't care since it was just a scramble but one of the guys in my group let someone in the other group have it. He knew all of them and was not afraid to let them know they were full of it. He is highly competitive and knew they were the types who would go around saying they won this event and beat him which did not sit well with him. Was pretty funny seeing them trying to defend themselves and you could just tell they knew they were guilty.
  7. I got down to a 9 about three years ago. The problem was that I was very inconsistent and wanted to get to that next level. Some friends of mine talked me into changing pros and went with a more analytical mechanical type of instructor. He has corrected a lot of my swing flaws but I still struggle with the mental game and tend to turn into a complete hack once I step onto the course. To be honest, I have not played good golf since I changed pros. Things that work for me he tends to nitpick and wants to change. I know he is only trying to get my swing to be able to play well on a consistent basis but I have gotten very frustrated going to the course and not playing to what I feel my abilities are. I am a range rat which I have learned hurts my game so I am going to spend more time just playing and not practicing so much. It's expensive to try and play 3-4 times a week which for someone with my ability needs to do to ever get into the single digits plus work gets in the way. Some of the best players I know just have great hand eye coordination which I have never had. One friend was a great baseball player, plays golf maybe once every three months, and can shoot low to mid 70's every time. I play my best when I am very conservative on the tee box. I suck with my driver but my pro has me using it now to get over the mental hurdle I have with it. I constantly hit block shots because my timing is always off and it turns all of my game into a mess (chipping, putting, etc). I can go to the course with no thoughts in my head and after two holes of bad drives I lose all feel for my game and next you know I am posting a 90+ score. I am a legit 13 just because of my better short game but putting needs a lot of work. I did not start the game until my late 20's and play with mostly folks who have played since they were kids. To me, I have years of catching up to do compared to them. All I can say is God Bless those of you with natural ability or have been able to conquer the mid handicap stage and become a permanent legit single digit player.
  8. Bubba Watson has entered my list. Just a complete douche. No respect for Tiger but he is good for the game. Furyk and his 2 hour putting routines. Most Euros with Poulter being at the top of that list but he never wins so never had to worry about him except for the Ryder Cup.
  9. Have not ready most of the posts so sorry if this has been mentioned but I have always thought if courses put up signs on each hole with an etiquette tip on each one it may help. You could even make them funny to lighten the mood up but also educate folks on things to do to keep the course in shape as well as pace of play. First few holes address the most important things such as pace of play and repairing marks and then less important tips after that.
  10. Have one and it really messes with me when I am practicing and decided to put it away. Trackman and a few other expensive devices are about as good as you can get but most of us cannot afford those things. I tend to regress when I start relying heavily on numbers. I focus more on ball flight and how far the ball goes. If you learn the ball flight laws you really do not need these electronic gadgets, but they sure are fun to play with though.
  11. Just have never gotten any good feel from their clubs and some of the past were just plain ugly to the eye at address. To each his own and if you get the results you want playing with their equipment then go for it, but I just think other companies simply make better quality and performing equipment for the average player and not specific to their tour players. At least Nike does not introduce something that is going to dramatically improve my game every three months like Taylormade does.
  12. The last company I think of when wanting clubs is Nike. Apparel is nice but that is about it. The whole neon color is just silly on equipment. Will stick with my incredible Mizuno's
  13. Have heard some good stories about the "old Ricky" that were pretty good. I really not care for the flashy clothes, but the kid has major game and is maturing before our eyes. The best thing for golf is for him, Spieth, and some other young guys to take the torch and be the guys who chase Rory much like Phil and some others did with Tiger. Although I think his injuries have done him in, someone like Anthony Kim was good because of his cockiness. I know some folks hate Reed but I like his spunk and confidence. Golf needs some good guys and "bad guys" to follow. The golf traditionalist would not agree. They want Adam Scott's all over the tour which is fine but to draw in new fans and better ratings Golf needs some edge to it. Guys like Bubba are great for the game if they can embrace things better and be more fan friendly. I have no problem with a guy saying he believes he is a top 5 player. I do not like a guy who whines and cries about everything all the while they get to play the greatest game at a high level and make a lot of money doing it. If not for the fans and media following them, they would have no sponsors and would be like the rest of us playing at local public or private clubs.
  14. Repeating others here, but most folks I know do not mind playing with a bad player or someone who has not played much as long as that person has fun and does not take themselves too seriously. More importantly, play fast and pick up your ball when it is time to. Nothing worse than playing with someone who thinks they should swing like Tiger and moan and groan all over the course all the while playing 10 shots per hole. Some of the funnest rounds I have played are with folks who stink at the game but have a lot of fun and they know when it is time to pick their ball up. Golf is a very tough game and I think most reasonable folks know that not everyone has the time or money to go to the range all the time and play 3-4 times a week. I do know some who are golf snobs and refuse to play with anyone that is not a single digit player but I hate playing with those folks anyway because they take themselves way too seriously and are not as good as they think they are.
  15. Would you pay the Pro's entry fee if it is a Pro Am tournament? Someone at my club invited me to play in one awhile back but said I had to pay my portion of the pro's share of the entry fee.
  16. Folks can not like the guy all they want but the simple fact is that he has two major victories, other wins on tour, and has made enough money to live well the rest of this life. He needs to work on his attitude but I think the majority on tour would take his career accomplishments and run.
  17. Honestly, you did not do this guy and his girlfriend any favors by not getting on them. All they will do now is think their behavior and cheating is acceptable. I was in a tournament one time and was playing with some older guys. I made a mistake and signed an incorrect scorecard and got called for it. It sucked but I learned a lesson that has helped me make absolute sure now that I sign the right score. If you want to cheat all the time and give yourself better scores then fine but if we are playing for money you better play by the rules. You keep disrupting me while I am swinging and I am going to make it clear to you that I am not going to tolerate it. You hit your ball into me we are going to have words. If you do not confront these types of people all they will do is continue their behavior, if someone puts them in their place they tend to figure out that they needs to shape up. If they want to be a real butt about it just report them to the appropriate authority of the event or course and let them handle it from there.
  18. Just battled a nice neck injury that I fought and fought (work on the desk a lot as well). My ergonomics was not good and got it fixed. Bigger issue is that I found out with an MRI that I have a herniated disk. My golf game went to complete crap and was in constant pain. If the pain does not get better I highly recommend seeing a doctor. What you think is a basic neck pain could be more and playing golf is going to make it worse. My doctor prescribed me specific meds which helped a great deal plus traction treatments will do wonders for your spine. Not saying you have the issue I have but just throwing it out there in the event it gets worse or does not go away. The neck and spine is not something to mess with.
  19. Hey All, I am in the midst of contemplating a driver change and just needed some opinions. Currently play with a stock R11. 60 gram stiff shaft. Usually play it with a 10.5 / Neutral setting. Never had a good fitting session with my driver. My irons were all custom fit this past year. I suffered a neck injury that has caused me to lose some distance and thought I would try some new clubs at the store just to see if I was not using the right driver for my current swing. I took my R11 to the launch monitor and compared it with a TM SLDR. The numbers were pretty revealing. I hit 10 balls with each club. R11 had an average spin rate of around 3500. Swing speed averaged 102, best distance I could get was 280. Accuracy wise, was more in the middle than I normally ever hit it on the course. Had a TM TP SLDR with a stiff 80 gram shaft. My spin rate went down almost 1000 RPM's to around 2500. My best distance was 308. Averaged around 275. Swing speed went up to 105 average. Only problem was that I hit more left than the R11. I tested them out about 2 months ago. Now Ping has the new G30. I have had some folks say a lot of good things about the recent Ping Drivers and how more forgiving they are. I am not a Ping guy but I will use whatever I have to use to get more distance but more importantly see more fairways. I have always been a TM wood guy but have now chosen to look at all brands and see what fits me best. Mechanics wise, I get lessons frequently and my pro is happy with where I am at. Once in while I get too quick or have some over moves, but most of the time I have good width, swing inside out and have a small draw or hit it straight. My misses tend to be blocks or hooks so it is not a consistent miss. All depends on how I feel that day with my rhythm and timing. Any advice on if getting a newer driver is really worth it? By that, is it going to help bring the spin rate down and be that much more forgiving than the R11?
  20. Very true. Whenever I hit a toe shot almost every time is because I came out of my swing too early.
  21. Holly is a good golfer, good golf knowledge, good looking, etc. but horrible taste in men. Do some research on her wonderful husband and you can predict the future of their relationship.
  22. Not surprised by this. Most of the Dick's stores I go to their fitting system is horrible. Half the time their monitors do not work, pro had limited knowledge on the fitting process, were not very interested in talking to you about their product lines and trying to sell you something, and product line is limited (mostly Callaway and TM). Only go there now to buy apparel or balls. Stores like Golfsmith. PGA Superstore, Golf Headquarters, etc. and nicer ranges are much better options if you really want a good custom fitting experience and ability to get a broader selection of quality products. Dicks is more for the weekend warrior who has limited knowledge or care for the correct equipment and all. I will say I have ran into some good pros at Dicks. Also ran into several who really were useless and was just there for a paycheck.
  23. My thread above got moved over here so apologize for putting it in the wrong forum. Anyway, did some more investigating and keep getting conflicting reviews of these devices. Heard some complaints about the GSA Pro being made of plastic and concerns that it will not last long (tip that goes into the grip will break). Also heard that it is vague on your clubhead impact position (just says open, square, or closed) whereas the Swingbyte gives you the actual degree. Frankly, at least for me, I could care less what the degree is. I am thinking for the price, either one is not a bad deal, but expect that the technology is going to get much better so these two devices will be obsolete like most gadgets not long from now. My personal opinion is that the GSA may be better simply because it is much easier to install on your club and will not move whereas the Swingbyte sounds like it moves around alot causing more inaccurate numbers. I would say that you just have to be careful in using it so the tip does not break off.
  24. Hey Folks, I know there was a long thread a while back concerning the Swingbyte technology. I have had a few folks tell me about it and have read mixed reviews. I also saw another device called the 3Bays GSA Pro. The Swingbyte straps on under the grip of the club whereas the GSA Pro goes into the end of the grip that seems lighter and much easier to handle. Anyone use any of these devices who could offer some opinions, advice, etc. on which one is the better deal? Tired of paying a fortune in lessons, having to film swings, etc. etc. and would like something that gives instant feedback that does not cost a fortune like the Trackman and other expensive devices give.
  25. The Pros you can pull up have a deal with V1. Tiger and others you mentioned are not signed by V1. If you have an iPad or iPhone there are others apps you can download. One is the Tiger "My Swing" app which is great. There are some others but I use V1 and Tiger's app only. Swing Coach is another good one that I have heards is good.
