  1. You're not crazy, if it hit the ball further :) Most likely it's setup related, I would think, or not actually making the same swing as the irons. A lot of people tee up too far forward in the stance
  2. Sure. Proper practice: most importantly, you should always be working on something, looking to improve something while at the driving range. Don't just hit balls. Always aim to a specific target. Always go thru your preshot routine. Don't rush. When you're playing, there should always be at least one swing though, but no more than two. I struggle with that, trying to make everything perfect.
  3. Chip in on the 17th?
  4. I think for newer players, this could definitely be just golf... but for a better player, it's not as extreme as you describe it, but certainly it can be an on or off day. There is definitely a way to memorize a good golf swing:proper practice, and a lot. It'll never be perfectly repeatable (unless you're Ben Hogan). I think the real secret is learning what causes a certain miss in your swing and knowing how to fix it, especially for on the course adjustment
  5. I don't think I've anyone, even a pro, spin it a few feet back on a shot inside 30 ish yards, and if you're good enough to hit a high spin shot right by the hole from that distance, probably should figure out why you're that distance to begin with. Shouldn't ever need to back it up, land it short of the hole. The quickie pitching thread technique can have only a few feet of release if you practice enough.
  6. No need to be rude to someone trying to help. he said nothing about getting up after four hours to eat lunch anyway. If you're working nights, the standard eating times for you would obviously change. No one is saying get up after fours hours so you can eat lunch right at 12 or anything silly like that. I'm pretty sure the nutritionist knows a bit more about this than you do, so try and accept help.
  7. That doesn't seem to be the point of this thread. No one is saying that their wasn't discrimination. They have fixed / are fixing the problems with discrimination. Based on what I first quoted, you're telling mvmac that he shouldn't defend ANGC with his "fair" and "evenhanded" comments. He isn't saying the 1950s ANGC was completely fair. He is defending them because they have fixed the issues... so what does anything you say have to do with this conversation? It appears more like you're stirring the pot instead of adding to the discussion.
  8. Yes, let's ignore that things have changed. We should continue to complain about the past, that way we can continue to make them look bad for the rules of the past. "so that's not so far in the past".... when is it far enough in the past that it's time to stop calling them out?
  9. I think it's off... if you watch closely the "target line" looks like it is going to the tree/towards the flag, not left of the tree. I get the hook and all, but I can't grasp a 163 yard 52*.
  10. That's exactly what mvmac said... he's indirectly promoting himself. He's not doing a commercial for himself, doesn't have to to be self promoting. If it's not promoting in the sense of self promoting... then what is he promoting? Personally I find him annoying, I don't watch sports to be made aware of issues like that, I work sports to have fun and get away a bit from topics like that. As for the Augusta thing.... I have a LOT more important issues to worry about. They don't discriminate anymore, it's all about who you are/your influence. They kept Bill Gates out because of his comments, that's the way they like it there. I would say if they keep out one of the richest white guys, they aren't too worried about women or other races.
  11. I think the hands and arms naturally follow the lower body, without having to consciously release them.
  12. Those heights don't sound even a little bit right to me. A three iron that needs to go more than 20 yards will get higher than your waist. Unless you're just punching out to the fairway, but if you want to hit a shot then it'll go higher than that. In high wind, club up and shorten the backswing. With the ball back in your stance, should get a nice low ballflight without losing much distance (i usually have to play 2 clubs up, i.e. a punch 5i for a distance that is usually a 7i). In trees, it depends on if you are punching out or just need to get under one tree, and don't have any other trees to worry about.
  13. Agreed . lakes don't pull the putt over... maybe they just missed a putt because they misread or pull the putt! -_-
  14. This makes it seem like an awful dumb question.... but if your current shoes work fine and you don't want to waste money then don't buy them. If your current shoes work fine but you like the new ones and the money isn't an issue... go for it.
  15. This pretty much says everything that needs to be said. It is egregious to compare discrimination (although saelevel has shown how that's not really how it is) to the KKK. I don't care if you're using "an extreme example" it's a disgustingly disrespectful (to victims of groups like the KKK) comparison.
  16. Play in the qualifier for the US amateur (requires a 2.4 handi)
  17. Or fat :) just gotta know how to throw it around!
  18. I'm a phil guy over tiger, but I'm not sure I understand people's blind disgust for Tiger. His interview after his round showed that he didn't seem upset about anything, the penalty, the bad luck hitting the flagstick... Just talked about how he played. Gracious winner, humble loser. I feel that the only reason people knock on Tiger is because of how upset he can get when he plays poorly... but his standards are high. There is no room for less than the best in his mind. I don't see why that makes him such a bad person.
  19. a bit? haha, you're quite nice. But ys, he admitted he played slow, said it wasn't unfair, he clearly understood he was going to be given a penalty stroke
  20. I don't think of anything. I read a book by jack nicklaus... he said that the clubhead releases automatically due to a good body turn into impact (which happens as a reflex to a good backswing position)
  21. Are you somewhere where you can take practice swings? Hotel rooms/apartment, anything with enough space (and privacy perhaps lol)?
  22. That gary player video was quite interesting. I'll have to see how that feels.
  23. From what I've heard, because women historically haven't had as much competition, so distance wasn't a big deal? I don't know. I remember watching Big Break Ireland and the girls were hitting 5w and 4i into a 160 yard par 3. Seems like they don't try to hit it hard, with muscles or body.
  24. Hello, looking for a new job. Can't drive (can't drive, seizure disorder) But I need a decent job. Can't live off the measly local selection. Does anyone know of/have any openings for an online/virtual/telecommuting type job? Any help appreciated, thanks
