Seve has been reincarnated.

Well, Jordan Spieth is leading, so that should provide enough excitement for some.

I have several steady guys I play with on Sat. or Sun. mornings, whichever works best for all. I've been playing with one of the guys like this for over a dozen years. He has one of the best swings you'll ever see on a mid (12) handicapper. Problem is he never picks up a club in-between. Best golfing buddy I ever had in 35 years of playing. One of the other guys is a +2 we hooked up with last year, a real character and the best chipper I have ever personally played with. The 4th is usually split between two guys who can't play every week. One is an employee of mine, who is a former H.S. golfer with a wonderfully reckless swing and a great short game who has been with us for two years and the other is a former employee who built a pretty decent swing himself simply from what he read on the internet and has been playing with us since about 2005. There was another great golfing buddy I had between 1990 and 2007. He was a former hippie who hit the ball a ton and told great stories, but unfortunately was a heavy smoker and passed away from lung cancer. Almost never play with family. My wife, father and brother stopped playing. My two brothers-in-law never touched a club in their lives. My father-in-law plays, but he tees off with a 5 wood, so nuff' said.

Taken from jsgolfer's post: Under 4-1 of the Handicap Manual Unfinished Holes and Conceded Strokes A player who starts, but does not complete a hole or is conceded a stroke must record for handicap purposes the most likely score . The most likely score may not exceed the player's Equitable Stroke Control limit, defined in Section 4-3 . This most likely score should be preceded by an "X." (See Decision 4-1/1 .) There is no limit to the number of unfinished holes a player may have in a round, provided that failure to finish is not for the purpose of handicap manipulation.

The reaction in my group would be a resounding SO????? It's already been established in this thread that you don't have to hole everything out to maintain a legitimate official handicap.
-
All very well stated. And holing out is not the badge of a legitimate low handicap golfer like some seem to think here. This past year, my buddy and a hooked up with a +2 who had once played really high level competitive golf. He soon became a regular part of our weekend group and we noticed he picked up almost any time he was within a couple of feet. After a few rounds of watching us he started conceding putts, at first prefacing it by saying 'it's more than likely than not you would make that".

Why Don't You Take Lessons?
Elvisliveson replied to ReviewMyGolfPro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think lessons are essential in the beginning. You need to learn the proper basics. After that, most anyone should be able refine their own swing with a little bit of practice. -
Conventional deadlifts 5 x 5, 340 lbs Bent-over rows 5 x 5, 235 lbs EZ bar curls 5 x 8 100 lbs 12 minutes cardio and 5 minutes stretching at end.

Obviously you do. Afterall, you went through the trouble of finding and posting in a thread about it. Oh, the irony. On a separate note, I hope Natalie knows what she's doing. This guy admitted that his powerbands were basically a placebo, the company had to declare bankruptcy and he lost it as a result. Plus, from what I understand he never played a single down as Yale quarterback. Hope Nat got an ironclad prenup.

Simply not true. I suggest you check out Arnold's playing record from 1960-1962.

I thought you said you were a CPA? Have you actually signed a tax return for a small business that "deducted everything"? Didn't think so. If you did, then you're a crook and your actions are reportable to your state board of accountancy.. At my firm, many of our small business clients require audits or reviews from which the tax returns are then prepared from and therefore thei financial information provided on them is pretty much beyond reproach. The only small businesses that really get away with anything are cash businesses and raising the tax rates therefore wouldn't have any affect on them. The problem is the government is so stupid they have no idea how to catch these people, so it's a lot easier just to raise rates for everybody else who plays by the rules for the most part. This idea that "everyone cheats" is simplistic justification for soaking people.

Maybe that's why you have to ride now . Dude, I'm 48 and could easily walk 54 holes carrying if I wanted to and beat up a twentysomething afterwards, but what's the point? Spent is a relative/subjective term. The reason I don't work out after carrying is because I really exercise hard and couldn't do it justice.

Look for the winking (or other) smiley, it's a dead giveaway.
-
You did hear of something called sarcasm at one time or another, no?
-
Yeah, cause hosts of sports talk radio shows and the crazed fanatics who callthem are the best judges of this sort of thing, right? Most experts who actually played the game at a high level aren't condemning Phil for his Sunday actions. Like I posted earlier I played match play at a pretty high level (division I college), and things like this went on all the time.
-
Yeah, but what pressure is there really if your handicap is 84?
-
Absolutely right. Another example is when Mickey Mantle hit his last career HR, not only did the 1st baseman shake his han, but the pitch on which he hit it was grooved to him by Tiger's pitcher Denny McClain!
-
Exactly. This is similar to 1980. A lot of people were scared of Reagan and weren't sure he could be the answer. But the our economy and foreign affairs were a complete mess, so they took a chance and it worked. If somebody is inept, you have to fire them whether you find their ideal replacement or not.

Yes, I firmly believe Stacy will supplant Yani as #1, unless JI Shin somehow beats her to it, which seems highly unlikely. I think it's a shame how so many casual viewers don't realize how good Lewis is because the media always seemed to be focusing on building up some other American (like Paula, Michelle and now Lexi).

Is that why Colin Montgomerie, during Ryder Cup commentary this weekend, referred to it specifically as the British Open? Two more things, 1) THE Open as you call it is only still relevant becuase Arnold Palmer decided it was 50 years ago when it was on the verge of extinction as a major championship. 2) It's only called the Open because politically correct American journalists decided to go along with it.

Of Course he cared, and about the right thing; the team. Woods conceded the putt simply because Europe already retained the cup. He actually didn't care about himself going into the record books with a tie instead of a win because the competition was over and his team failed in their only mission. He came across as very classy to me and I've been called a Tiger hater by the sychophants (doesn't take much, just say something like he hasn't shown anything on the weekend of majors this year).

I think Stacy will bring it home. The Solheim Cup points accumulation still has about 10 months to run, no? Surprised to see how few points Morgan Pressel has. Guess she really has fallen off the map since the Sybase Match Play debacle. Thought Vicky Hurst and Natalie Gulbis would have more. Natalie had high finishes in big profile events (Kraft Nabisco and Evian) and one other top 10. But, she seems to finish just outside the top 20 a lot, thereby getting no points. Conversely, Michelle Wie has missed a lifetime of cuts this year, but I guess had several high finishes last year. I think they should award Solheim points to the top 20 American and European finishers each week rather than for just finishing inside the top 20.

Let's agree to disagree. All I can say is I actually played in those type of settings at a pretty high level (not afternoon league play at some muni) and see absolutely nothing wrong with complimenting your opponent for a good shot; it could actually work in your favor as I pointed it in my previous post. This is not a debate club, it's a forum to share opinions and I gave you one bourne out of actual experience. But, I know you have a penchant for beating things to death, so I state right now this will be my last post on this.

Me too. I believe I read about this technique in an Arnold Palmer book (My Game and Yours?).
