Callaway pre-owned is legit. I've ordered several clubs & their conditions have always been better than I expected. I know it's tough to buy "sight-unseen" but I'll certainly do it through them.

Speaking of tension I've really focused on softening the amount of pressure I use in my hands to hold the club. In the past I would squeeze the daylights out of the grip...so much that my forearms were sore after a range session! The "YOU GO SMASH NOW!" swing leads to all arms & wild inconsistency

I was toying with putters at a Golfsmith & Golf Galaxy this past weekend. The one I kept going back to was the Odyssey Metal X 7. I have a feeling it will be in my bag in the next 2-3 weeks...it's been a painfully slow process. This is the first insert putter I've actually liked. While at Golfsmith I also toyed with a Scotty Cameron California Fastback 35"...holy cow. The first ball I struck felt like nothing else. Of course it's $350...but so tempting.

I've never given unsolicited advice as I, too, am usually the one who should be seeking advice. But, I have on rare occasions given positive comments to people when I see certain things. The last time was a guy who appeared to be a weekend amateur (so much like me) and he was hitting the most elegant draws with his irons. I just had to tell him I thought his flight path was inspiring. Turned out we chatted for my last 10-15 minutes at this range & good thing we did. I walked away with a few good points to focus on. I think he enjoyed having someone tell him he was doing something good! I almost prefer some light camaraderie at the range as it helps me loosen up. Can't get too serious there.

I have the TM Burner 2.0 irons & can say I paid the $699 (or whatever) last year...to see them at $399 is a bargain. I guess the RBZ irons are TM's solution to last year's 2.0's? Anyways, I really like the 2.0's and don't plan to take them out of the bag for a number of years. I'll second PhillyMac's opinion of the TM Superfast hybrids...those sticks are idiot proof & scream off the face. Save some coin on the 2.0 irons & pick up a hybrid with the spare change.

I just cleaned my irons 2 weeks ago. I added basic car wash soap into a 5-gal bucket & filled it halfway with water. Let the irons stand in the soapy water for 5 minutes. After the soapy water soak I scrubbed each club head with a plastic bristled brush...dirt & grime fell right off. Rinsed each with the hose, toweled off & set aside in the sun to dry. Once the irons were cleaned used the (now damp) towel to wipe down hybrids.

I found myself in an in-between situation. I tested a Callaway Razr Hawk at Dick's Sporting Goods last week. Really liked it. I didn't buy the club inside the store that day. A day later, I ordered a used Razr Hawk from Callaway Pre-Owned... Therefore I sort of did & didn't? Hey, at least I waited a full day & saved myself more than $100! Side note: the club arrived yesterday. It was described as "Good" condition on Callaway's site...but I'll be damned if it wasn't in perfect condition for a used driver!

Go to www.etsy.com & search for "golf club covers"...I recently got a set of 4. I like them better than the manufacturers' covers since the slide on & off more easily. I can appreciate the manufacturers' interest for a snug fit but found the snug-ness irritating when at the range.

Earlier this month I was in the market for a new 3W. Walked into my local Pro Shop / Range convinced I was going to buy a R11 3W (I have two TM Burner Superfast 2.0 hybrids I love). They gave me the R11 3W, a bucket and off I went to hit balls. The R11 felt really nice but before I was going to pull the trigger I decided to hit other manufacturers. I also hit the Nike VR Pro Limited Edition 15*, Titleist 910F, Ping G20 & TM RBZ. For me, it came down to the R11 & Nike as the contenders. After a few dozen more shots I decided on the Nike. I was surprised since I never considered owning a Nike club. The weight of the club, ball trajectory & ball striking all narrowly favored the Nike. Also, the Nike's face is slightly deeper than the R11 (the R11 is shallower but wider)...I only intend to use this 3W off the tee...my hybrids have plenty of distance off the deck. The Taylormade Rocket Ballz was my least liked club out of the group.
