  1. Ok, I am in as well. I received the equipment a couple of days ago and finished my second session tonight. So far, I enjoy the workout. I figure at the very least this will keep my swinging while the snow is on the ground. The last time I was in Erie my swing speeds were 100-102 and my goal is to see if I can improve to 105 to 110. Measuring at home is something I am still trying to figure out. I have a Swing Speed Radar but the numbers seem to be a bit low. For example, night my driver around an average in the low 90's but I am still playing around with locations. I noticed that my right shoulder was a bit sore after my first session. I am guessing that this is do to one of two factors (or a combination). I am a right handed golfer and the right shoulder seems to take on a lot of the deceleration. Of course there is not a ball there to aid in the deceleration. Also, I separated the ac joint in my right shoulder years ago so that is something I have to constantly work on. I also plan on only working on my speed within the framework of the improvements I am working on.
  2. Thanks @cedrictheo it may be a good thing that I am short. =)
  3. How long are the clubs? I am wondering if I could use them in my basement.
  4. I am guessing that if these tournaments (smaller fields or invitationals) did not come with world ranking points guys would be less inclined to play in them. Making the tournaments less appealing. If my memory is correct this tournament meets the minimum criteria for WRP to be available...18 players that are all ranked in the top 50.
  5. My score was 38. 4. I'm not a big fan of pre-shot routines. If it were up to me I would hit before my partners ball had landed. 6. Does anyone like a high-scoring round?...really?
  6. "Suspended?! Kick her off the tour Doug!" Sorry I was way off topic but I couldn't help myself.
  7. No insults coming from me. I think you have a very good point. Think about it from a numbers perspective. There is a lot more people on Earth than there was back then. And, they are playing for a lot more money. Now I understand that not all of the people on the planet are vying for a spot on the PGA tour. But I'll bet the number has grown exponentially for the same 125 spots.
  8. Tiger Woods -8 Jordan Speith -8 Rickie Fowler -7 "I want to win a Callaway Big Bertha Driver" .
  9. It's a fart joke...think about it.
  10. Bounce can certainly be your friend. My 58 degree has 22 degrees of bounce and the way that it is designed it is extremely easy to lay open and play floppy pitches. There are a number of discussions on this site regarding this topic. Look for the ones with @mvmac and @iacas hitting flop shots off a green.
  11. Tiger Woods -11 Adam Scott -11 Phil Mickelson -11
  12. I'm just glad that I remember to make some picks this week. I slipped from from 5th to 15th because I didn't log in on time...oops
  13. @iacas I'll meet you at the Peace bridge....
  14. I recently made a decision to make an upgrade to the clubs in my bag. I have some rather lofty goals for this season and wanted to make sure that my clubs were not going to be working against me. In my recent work with Dave Wedzik and Erik Barzeski at GOLF EVOLUTION it became apparent that I could not create the proper launch conditions with my current driver. I also had some questions about the irons that I played. After a pretty exhaustive search and decided to schedule an appointment at Modern Golf in Toronto, Canada. And boy am I glad that I did...:-) The appointment that I scheduled was set up to evaluate all 14 clubs in my bag. My wedges were fit by @david_wedzik and Erik @iacas and my putter was fitted by James Hirshfield so I knew those were spot on. But, to look at the driver, fairway woods, hybrid and irons it was cheaper to do the total package. When I first arrived they did a full evaluation on my current set of clubs -Swing weight -Shaft weight -Frequency -CPM -Loft, lie and length In this pic you can see some of the equipment they use to evaluate clubs. Plus in the background you can see some of the shafts that they offer. They have developed a system which I think is their own to swap out any club head with any shaft so that you can try any combination. After my clubs were checked out I met Ian Fraser, one of the owners of Modern Golf and the person that would be doing my fitting. We then moved into one of their hitting bays. I spent the next three hours hitting irons, drivers, fairway woods and hybrids. Of course I hit my own first and then discussed the Trackman data with Ian. I was then able to try various club head and shaft combinations and compare them to my own. We then prioritized what needed the most attention. In my case, it was the driver followed by my irons. Like I thought I launched the driver too low but I also found out that I should be playing a softer shaft in both my driver and irons and that my lie angle was too flat in my irons. One of the things that truly amazed me about experience was that after spending three hours hitting numerous club combinations and answering a million of my questions there was absolutely no pressure by a single club. In the end I went with Jetspeed driver with the F1 Motore shaft picking up on average 21 yards of carry. Possibly more important I increased my launch angle to 15.4 degrees and reduced the spin axis from 5.7 degrees to 4.7 degrees. I also ordered a set of Chikara irons with the KBS Tour V shafts. It hard to describe how good these irons felt. I've long wanted a set of irons that I can play until the face wears out (hopefully right in the sweet spot) and I feel confident that these are them. I highly recommend any one in the market for new clubs to consider making at trip to Modern Golf. Their staff is very professional, incredibly knowledgable and the facility will blow you away.
  15. 1. Masters 2. US Open 3. British Open (yes, I still like to identify that as the British) 4. Ryder Cup 5. Accenture Match Play (with a decent field) I would put the PGA on this list if it went back to match play.
  16. Thank you for your thoughts and ideas I appreciate you guys taking the time to post your ideas. Most of the events that I will help over see are member only events but our pro shop does collect score cards. It seems that the biggest challenge will be finding the balance between keeping tournament fields full and having the scoring as accurate as possible. If I can't get any of your ideas to fly I'll just keep voting to play scratch with the flight.
  17. I was recently elected to the members board at the club that I belong. One of the reasons I ran was because I was sick of seeing tournament net scores that were statistically I'll say "improbable". After discussion at my first board meeting it became apparent that the biggest problem is getting people to post all of the scores that they should post. I know there's been a couple discussions on what should be and should not be posted but I think that's a different topic. What I'm trying to find is a solution/idea to get people to post more of their scores. If anyone has seen ideas that have worked at their club I love to hear about them...thanks in advance.
  18. Taylor Made really seems to be pushing the idea of 17 degrees of launch with 1700 RPM's. As a person who resently found that he is launching the ball to low I'm interested to hear more about this 17-17 idea. It seems a bit general to me but I'm no fitting expert.
  19. I was looking to set up my roster tonight and I noticed that there are players you can choose that are not playing the Sony (Tiger for example). This is my first fantasy golf league is this common or am I in the wrong area?
  20. This may be too obvious but I need to hit more greens per round and the greens that I'm hitting the shots need to be closer to the hole. My best rounds tend to include many pars, not many bogeys and not many birdies. My rounds that aren't so good and have less GIR's and more bogeys and I never have enough birdies to offset. And if I start making doubles…=\
  21. I'm in. Thanks for getting this started gogolfing.
  22. All things being equal (and that is assuming a lot) if you are able to increase the pressure on you left (lead) leg at impact you should be able to move your low point more forward. Again all things being equal with a low point more forward the path should be more to the right which should produce a draw...and possibly reduce you dynamic loft which may increase your distance.
  23. I am going to put in a second vote for Boo Weekley. I followed him for 18 holes on Sunday at Oak Hill. It was amazing to watch him strike the ball. I'm not saying that I would like to putt like him. Then again it would be interesting to see how the average golfer would fair against the tour's worst putter. He'd probably make me look silly. =/
  24. Tiger Woods -13 Ryan Moore -8 Gavin Hall -6 (Young kid from my area. Tons of upside to this kid.)
