I have room for a club in my bag, what should I get?
octabogey replied to Aguirre's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've had this same debate myself many times. I ended up just spending a bunch of time practicing with my 52 and 56 and learned the shots I needed with those. Now pretty much anything from that distance in is a 52. -
I talked to the same dude about 10 times, after a while he knew me lol. My biggest issue with them is that they wouldn't talk to me. It's definately a great little pistol, that's the only failure of any kind that it has had. And you are right it shoots like a much bigger pistol. If I had to do it again though I'd probably just go with a g26

The K9 used to have a place on my vest as a backup, and off duty. That was until the slide lock blew off. Sent it off to Kahr, and it was like pulling teeth getting any info/update with them. After about a month and a half of this I started bugging their customer service, and magically it appeared on my door a couple days later. All they said was that they replaced the slide lock and test fired it. It's disappointing because I believe the failure was ammo related, but kahr handled it like crap. Enough of my crying. I'll still carry my K9 off duty, and interchange with a SW 5 shooter. I use a smart carry holster, which I highly recommend (especially if your a little guy like me). You can wear just about anything you want, to include board shorts and a tank top.

Like Dave said working on getting those lag putts close will help reduce 3/4 putting Best thing I can say for the short game nerves is keep practicing, and when you're on course facing that shot trust your swing. Don't get ahead of yourself and worry about where the ball is gonna go, instead pick the swing you are gonna make and focus on that. When you make that swing keep your head down until you hear the ball land. When this issue is seen in the shooting world it's called anticipation. The shooter becomes so worried about seeing where his shot went that he forgets about all the stuff that needs to happen before the bang. Long story short the solution to this is to focus on having a good grip, look at your front sight, and a slow smooth trigger squeeze. In golf I try to apply these things, as I had the same problem you did but with every shot because I was so excited to see where the ball was going. Sorry to get off topic I just found that was how I fixed a similar issue, plus I'm only on my second cup of coffee.

Speed Metal Golf Ball
octabogey replied to saevel25's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I wonder what the difference in distance would be seeing as you can't compress that metal.... Plus I'm not real excited about spending $40 on an anti slice ball. Pass -

God logix is awesome, and free. -
We'll here in va it was 70 two days ago the we got flurries last night. Usually if we get snow it's January or February, so that was unusual. Typically I can play year round without too much trouble. In fact this is my favorite time of year to play since a lot of people stop playing. I will say that hunting starts to take priority over golf though

Have You Encountered Hunters At This Time Of The Year?
octabogey replied to dfreuter415's topic in The Grill Room
Lol though they weren't hunters I had a similar experience while in Africa a few years ago. The army and some local military drove right through the middle of a hot demo range. They were apc's but it still woulda been a bad day for them. Btw happy birthday brother! -
Which golf balls do you use?
octabogey replied to jcooper5083's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Gamer/gamer tour, q star, e6, and dt solo have all done well for me. Been wanting to try the rzn's next... Hex chromes sound good too. Guess I'm a golf ball ***** -
Anyone ever try Wasmonds? Distilled in my hometown, pretty good stuff

I've got a 52 and a 56 that I'll use depending on the lie/distance. I have to say though that the 52 is really my go to. I dunno if it's the 8 bounce vs the 14 that my 56 has...but I find it easier to learn a variety of shots with one club

Also (to some degree) can depend on the course. There's a few courses here that have fairways you can hack your way down and save it with a nice put/chip. Others require much more shot planning because of water, dog legs, etc. For higher handicappers, I believe their longer game is the cause of more problems. As you got better it seems more strokes are lost from short game problems.

Summertime: gin and tonic. Cooler weather: whisky on the rocks I play a lot of solo golf, so my 19th hole is usually in my yard chipping around. If I'm lucky enough to get out with my buddies we'll stick to beer usually.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Something that requires some thinking, and offers a reward for some strategy. Having a par 4 offering a risk/reward shot, as well as a layup opportunity for par. A little temptation to finish on a strong note if you want, or to try to finish on a par. A hole set up like this would definitely have some landscaping to it, so pars not a gimme

I have the callaway, and it's a decent bag. It has dividers too, which makes a huge difference. It has a ton of room/pockets, one of which is actually lined to be a cooler. I don't drink and play golf too much, but you can fit a 12 pack in there. It looks like the Nike very similar as far a features, so I'd probably just go with whichever one you think looks better or is cheaper.

Started breaking 90 and 85 during the spring, had a major relapse recently. As a result my short term goals are to stop gripping my clubs so hard and focus on the simple stuff. Just bought a house in the county over, so my next goal is to learn some new courses :).

45..... Played a tough course, especially so for lefties. Thank god for my short game cause I could not hit my long irons worth a d***. That said it was a beautiful day so ill take any score over being at work

Anyone have any knowledge/building plans for a backyard putting green? Moving into our first house, and we have a little under an acre for a backyard. Got permission from the mrs, and want to make a little three cup green for putting/chipping. Looking to make the green out of a synthetic material. Any advice?
