  1. My lecturer at Uni hit the wrong ball on the last day of the European tour qualifying school to miss out by a shot :\
  2. There's a 15/16 year old boy at the range i go to, hits it pretty solid and swings it well.. his grandad goes to the range every time and after EVERY shot the kid hits he interjects with a bit of 'golf knowledge' that contradicts itself every time... its frustrating as no.1 the advice is useless and no.2 its hard to concentrate when you have a bloke saying "NO NO, keep your right arm straight" or "SEE how much better was that when you kept your head level"... how many different things must this poor boy be thinking of when he swings.
  3. You have to compare his achievements to that of others who have been knighted... Dame Kelly Holmes for example was awarded the honour for winning two golf medals in the Olympics. He won 6 majors throughout his career, making him the most successful Brit ever. He was despised as he showed a winners attitude, he couldn't care less what people thought of him as long as he won. He does a LOT of work with Juniors in England, the Faldo series helps up and coming young juniors experience tournament golf, one to one coaching from Faldo and provides the stepping stone to the next level. Faldo is very deserving of this honour and should have received it a long time ago, whether you like him or not (Even though you don't know him) has nothing to do with it.
  4. Nick muchly deserved this, especially when compared to achievements of those who have already been knighted :\ I still wonder why he has only just been knighted, he earned this honour a long time ago.
  5. lol, couldnt agree more.
  6. um... how many words
  7. Meh I've heard Tigers using an old Ignite with a steel shaft painted to look like the dymo with a graphite shaft... I don't think many people actually know what he plays, what irons are behind the markings etc, it says Nike on them so why not assume its some sort of Nike blade? Tiger has never been one to change equipment so is going back his old irons when he is not playing up to his own standard really a big surprise?
  8. Try hitting low punch shots, getting your weight ahead of the ball at impact, it might feel like your chest is slightly infront of the ball at impact.
  9. Swing changes take a lot of time to get used to, especially as you get older as its harder to get out of bad habits. I can't stress enough (from my own experiance) to stay as far away from technical thoughts as you can on the course, limit your self to maybe one key thought so that you can focus on the task at hand. You will never play well on the course if your trying to achieve ten different things in one swing.
  10. Cant remember if I have posted in this thread before, so here goes (it will be different now anyhow) Having decided that my swing got to technical, I have completely changed my approach to the game, for the summer I will largely forget technique and focus purely on controlling the clubface and ball flight (As my coach, Paul Eales says the task will perfect your technique, not the other way round) its a very new approach to golf to me (coming from the super technical background) but feel that it will be the stepping stone to the next level of golf, joining a golf club without a flawed handicap system will also help :p When working on the short game, I try and keep every stroke as simple as possible, using different clubs to hit different shots, I.E. 6 irons for flops and lob wedge for chip and runs, just playing around and having fun I suppose, stops the practise from getting boring and vastly improves your array of shots around the green. Putting - after getting on the SAM putting lab I am trying to stop my putter from going inside the line closed and then outside the line stil closed (in other words trying to avoid a 'hook' stroke) Hitting a lot of putts from inside 10 foot to really get some confidence going on the greens. Mentally - Learn to look 'cool' on the course at all times, for me this means staying as calm as i can mainly after a bad shot or a bad run of holes etc. Competition - Start entering National events instead of county, really push myself.
  11. I here mine fizz, not all the time but when I hit it well you can definitely hear the ball going through the air for the first few yards of its flight. Try hitting a low punch shot, striking it well and I don't doubt you will hear the fizz of the golf ball.
  12. One key feeling, get your right heel off the floor in your downswing as soon as you can, this will force you on to your left side. You could his shots with your right heel off the floor at address, and keeping it there throughout the swing to exaggerate this feeling.
  13. Work on your posture, you want slightly more bend forward from the hips (a steeper spine angle), this will give you enough room to swing from the inside, at the moment your set up is forcing you to come over the top. Focus on maintaining the angles you have at address in the back swing, notice in your video how you 'stand up' a little and your knees straighten, keep your knee flex and spine angle constant throughout the back swing and you will find it a lot easier to draw the ball.
  14. I would go for your local pro, he has years of experience and will add a personal touch that pro's at golf galaxy won't. As for the indoor lessons, stay away from them, thats what I have at golf college and feel that the instructor must be able to see the ball flight to teach effectively.
  15. you can hardly see the ball, at the end of the video you can quite clearly see a fair proportion of the ball. Imo the lie has been improved.
  16. 70 - 75 the lack of competitive golf this year has killed me :(
  17. loads of times, although mainly when hitting tee shots.
  18. because Mcilroy saying the Ryder Cup is an exhibition is a much more interesting story than Rory saying the Ryder Cup is an exhibition for the fans
  19. Worth noting that Rory has been misquoted, he said the Ryder Cup was more of an exhibition match for the fans than Majors were.
  20. Nike forged blades have weak lofts compared to most other irons on the market, probably a factor.
  21. The putter head will only follow a straight back and straight through path on the shortest of putts, trying to go straight back straight through will lead to a square to closed to square to open club face (set up, backswing, impact, follow through) imo. This is too inconsistent, watch all the top putters... in fact any professional on tour and everyone will have a slight arc to their stroke.
  22. What will next months driver be called?
  23. Cider.... now we're talking
  24. Because Garcia is the only golfer on tour to have spat on a golf course..... Tiger does it a number of times a round.
  25. And can give you me one reason why this is a bad thing to do? the reason a lot of people 'bottle it' is because they change the way they do things, they might hit the ball a bit harder than they have been, try to fade it when they have been drawing it all day, do slightly different things in the pre shot routine etc The best way to perform under pressure is to stick to the same routine you have been using for the lat 14'ish holes and not to change anything about your game.
