  1. Can anyone tell me why McD's workers find it so hard to line up burger, cheese, and buns somewhere within the same zip code?
  2. Heck, I have a (slightly) different swing for every club in the bag. Especially considering the multitude of different shots you may be attempting. I never ever believed in that one swing theory. Can anyone really say that a punch 7i swing is the same as a full driver swing? What would Seve or Lee say?
  3. Yeah, my daughter: Mis-clubs all the time, even when she knows the distance (you have 125, why are you hitting a PW? I can barely hit a PW 120...her: I don't know.....) Hits the wrong trajectory a lot (why did you open the face and try to flop it when you have 50 ft of green to work with? Or, why did you take a full swing when all you need to do is punch it under the tree back out onto the fairway? her: I don't know....) Is just starting to understand ball flight laws and use her ball flight as feedback. Has ADD, and has to be reminded all the time to go through her PSR, especially when putting. She was blessed with a natural swing and for 3 yrs just pulled the club back and hit it long and straight (except for her putting, which has always been suspect). Now for the last year the game has caught up with her and her ball striking has declined as her mind has started to engage. However, she responds well to my on-course coaching, but I can't do that at JGA tournaments, and I can't figure out why they have that rule.
  4. After only 4 years of playing, my daughter is still learning the nuances of the swing, and the game (aren't we all?). Not hitting the right shots at the proper moments can lead to high scores and frustration. She usually plays much better when I can coach her.
  5. Happy Bday Wolfgang! Thanks again nevets for posting classical music! Mozart was the Beatles, Who, Stones, and Zepplin of his time, no, wait, of all time. He was and will always be the biggest rock star ever. Mozart's Requiem could possibly be the most brilliant and moving piece of music in history. Period. Every single note grabs your ear. It defies description. I can't say that of any contemporary music.
  6. Yeah, what is the NFL without controversy? It's the best reality TV. Lol, tongue firmly in cheek as always Gd! Keep up the good work sir...
  7. In our local JGA tournaments, players don't have caddies. After playing for only 4 years, at the age of 15, my stepdaugter could use some input during play. Do they want to drive young players away from golf because of frustration? They're doing a good job.
  8. Wow, hard to believe there's not more banter here now that the superbowl is set (Oh, wait, I don't want to get sued for copyright infringement by a multi billion $$$ organization who's whole existence is solely to make more $$, so I have to call it "The Big Game"). Maybe my dream of a world without football is starting to come true.. I am glad the nasty Pats didn't make it though...
  9. Why would the variance, or variability, in temp be the critical metric rather than change in overall mean temp versus time? Variance is a measure of the dispersion of individual data points. Long term change would be measured by the slope of the mean vs time, ie, dT/dt where T = mean temp and t = time.
  10. Just wanted to follow this up (slow night). After calming his wife down, the guy looked at me and said, 'how do you know that snake wasn't poisonous?'. I said 'all you have to do is spend about 30 min on wikipedia or the herpatology section of any university's website or any of a dozen other snake identification websites, or get a Peterson's field guide, and it's pretty easy. Here in S Jersey there are only two large black colubrids, the black rat and the black racer.' However, he stuck to his guns and said, 'you don't know, it could have been a copper head'. Sigh. I was going to reply again, but I deferred and said 'OK'. Instead of spending a small amount of effort educating themselves, some people choose to live perpetually in darkness, fear, and ignorance. Then, from their position of ignorance, they will insist that you don't know what you're doing.
  11. There's a couple courses I used to play where I have seen some monster bass just hanging in the shallows, presumably because there's almost no fishing pressure on them. I always vow to come back with rod and reel, but where does the time go...also most of the ponds are within direct line of fire of golfers...
  12. I don't understand, why do you want college recruiters to watch you when you have already gotten in? One of the things I don't like about the JGA rules is that parents can't offer advice during tournaments and have to 'stay 30' away'. Why? Throughout college matches the coach can coach from the sidelines, and obviously the pros have their caddies, so what's up with this silly rule (that almost all parents just ignore anyway)?
  13. Yeah but it doesn't collapse. Booooo! Oh, and BTW Josephine, almost twice the height of a man = a lot more than 30"...
  14. Haha! You're hooked (pun intended)....again. Wow, bass fishing is more expensive than golf? You must have a boat..
  15. I don't know why, but all hybrids I have played look a little closed at address, and I have a tendency to hook them. I play a 2h as a 5w substitute, and I hit it well as long as I imagine I'm holding the face off through impact. I'm glad I still hit my long irons well There's nothing like the feel and sight of a well struck 3i. The long irons are all about tempo.
  16. IMO the Duo is soft, but a different kind of soft. You can tell from the sound of a well struck shot. The Wilson has a 'clack' sound, while a ProV is more like 'whup'. I think the difference is the cover. And the Duo holds fairly well, but nothing beats the holding power of any of the top urethane balls from any of the mainstream manufacturers. On iron shots from 160 and in that gives me more confidence to not be tentative with my swing.
  17. I have always preferred least skilled first to most skilled last. That will usually dictate the same rotation throughout, but if you have a lights out putter, I would always put him last for putting no regardless of his other skills. Worst to best puts less pressure on the hackers and more pressure on the players who are better able to handle it. (usually)
  18. Dammit. Beat me to it. She's still touring. Her voice still has that signature sound.
  19. I've heard Seve was the nicest guy while wanting to step on your throat during competition. I miss him.
  20. A little cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar?
  21. My first truck was a Tacoma, and I followed that up with a Silverado 1500. I dunno, looking back on 170K miles on both, they were about equal with regards to repairs. What I do know is, I got a deep discount on the Silverado so that it only cost me $1K more than what I paid for my Tacoma 8 yrs before. Much more bang for the buck. Now with my new Silverado, I am Chevy truck guy... You sir, are a REAL truck owner. In comparison, I'm a pretender...
  22. Most Reddit content is hard to understand. Too many trying too hard to be underhanded/obscure/sarcastic/obtuse/knowledgeable/avant-gard (what....on an internet forum?). So, I still could not determine who the guy is?
  23. I volunteer for our local LPGA tournament every year, and the ladies are for the most part very accommodating in interacting with the gallery and volunteers. There are a few who are a little stand offish, but I have never seen or heard of outright rudeness at our event. After finishing one of my shifts, I went over to a nearby tee to watch some more golf, and Sandra Gal was waiting to tee off, and turned as I walked up and very casually said, "Hello". I tried to remain casual as well and not act like a gushing school girl and said, 'Hi Sandra, how are you doing?'. She said she was playing well, and I wished her a good round, and she said thanks, and she stepped up and crushed her drive. My heart was fluttering a little after that.
  24. Annie Lennox is awesome. Is that Dave whats-his-name with her?
  25. Great story telling. Funny stuff. I have heard that dominant male 'roos don't back down from anyone.
