Mizuno JPX-825 and JPX-825 Pro
yamhang replied to rockinrebel's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Does anyone know the difference between JPX 825 Pro and the JPX 825 forged iron? Just purchased a set of JPX 825 forged iron set 4-P, and can't tell the difference. -
what is your go to shot from 100 yards in the fairway?

smooth 54 gapwedge -
It is ok for a 20 handicap to play with forged blade and it is ALSO ok for touring pro to play with clubs like x-12 with super wide sole and tons of offset............IT IS FREEDOM OF CHOICE!

currently using forged cavity II 3-P set with Rifle 6.0. Compared with the Macgregor Muirfield forged blades, these are lot more easier to play, especially the long irons. These are quality golf clubs and really like them.

scratch play - range finder essential?
yamhang replied to imtomtomim's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
it would be nice to know the exact distance to the pin; low/high handicappers alike but I would think better player who can shoot consistent distance will benefit more. -
shorten the shaft will somehow stiffen the shaft.........be aware of that and if you're happy with 2H, I would suggest to stick with that until you are comfortable with the extra length..........a good hit with 2H of 17 degree should get reasonable distance without the hassle.

nice pictures!!

Try pick a set of "modern blade" which is easier to play compare with the good old fashion ones with high CG, stiff shaft and almost no offset. I have a set of Macgregor Miurfield 20th Annivary made in 80's and managed to stick with them and got quite used to them. But when i tried out the recent VIP blades, they are just lot easier to play.

Macgregor Jack Nicklaus Muirfield 20th forged blade must be it!

swing question to people who play tennis and golf
yamhang replied to pendlebg's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Very interesting thread. To me, regardless of the swing (tennis or golf), the main swing thought would be : turn your body instead of swing the arm/hand. If I were able to keep my hands / arms quiet, just turn the torso and create lots of lag, I'll be able to hit powerful and controlled shots. Well, just my two cents. -
Currently I am using KZG forged cavity II irons. These are very solid irons with medium dose of game improvement features, i.e, off sets, cavity backs, larger club face etc. I enjoy my eight irons set quite a bit. You can work the ball and also feeling confident doing so due to forgiving nature of the club.

I was told V1x is made for player with high club head speed and mine is a little over 100mph, I like V1 more; it is softer and gives me bit more "feel" around the green.

I always wondering if I could spin my wedge shot like a pro. You see, I play mostly in far east and the greens are relatively harder than the Parkland course in the US, the closest thing would be a shot stopped dead on the green and never really see any shot being spun back past the flag. May be I'm not hitting my approach in certain way to generate enough spin on the putting green. Please share your thoughts.

P. S KZG provides custom club fitting for you and that I consider really important.

Chavez, have a look at KZG Forged Cavity II irons. I enjoy using them alot and they're really good quality clubs however, not as popular as say, Mizuno MP's. Happy golfing!!

Short Game Bilbe by Dave Pelz is a must read. Happy golfing!

My swing plan is steep and always hit down and take a divot disregarding the length of irons. May be should try to shallow out a bit, see if that would improve my score on Par3's. What do you guys think? Please share your thoughts.

Really look forward to your pics and I'll post pics for my beautiful Macgregor's too!

Callaway S2H2 iron set with Memphis 10 shaft
yamhang posted a topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I were give a set of Callaway S2H2 irons (3-sand) with the missing 5 iron and rusty Memphis 10 steel shaft. My question : can I still get Memphis 10 shaft out in market? Any ex-owner can share their experience with these 15 or 18 years old irons? -
gas_can, Really appreciate your info regarding the club spec. and you're absolutely right about these vintage classic clubs; you see I'm no bigger hitter and my 7-iron goes about 155 to 160 but when I play with the vintage Macgregor set, I actually somehow gain 10 yards in every club (except the 3 iron). May be that is because my "hit-rate" with these forged blades are better compared with my KZG's. Dont know why smaller head with weaker loft, shorter shaft ly go further. How about some opinion from you?

I just started to play with the Macgregor Jack Nicholas Muirfield 20th edition for few months, it did not improve my swing but improved my concerntration / focus throughout the shot and that somehow made me score better!! It's really old set but when I got them, they're practically new! It's got shorter shaft and weeker loft compared with my KZG Forged Cavitiy II but I'm really getting to enjoy this set and hope my score keeps improving. Gas_can, do you have ay info regarding the spec. of the set? Last time I bought them to a club fitter, they didnt have a clue.

should play clubs with lots of game improvement and Callaway clubs usually fit that catagory. Regarding club fitting, should see your local club fitter.
