I feel the same way.... and I'm NOT sorry!!!

NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Having "bag dings" is a "badge of honor" amoung forged iron players. Besides, the AP2's aren't completely forged anyway, but that is neither here nor there. Also, you're gonna spend a bunch of money on those clubs, let people see them when you are on the first tee instead of those stupid golf club condoms! Welcome to the club!

Ball flies too high with driver ?
TommyD69 replied to lagagnon's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Height = Carry = Distance It's a "balancing act" that most of us never really get right. Sounds like you are right there.... leave it alone and ENJOY IT! -
I like Phil. I hope he does well. Shoot, he is doing everything I dreamed of doing on the tour, but would never have a chance to do. I hope he wins a bunch more times. I want Phil and Tiger to square off coming down the stretch at Augusta. I also really want Phil to finally become the World Number one golfer. I know it won't last, but, once you become number one, you can always say "you were number one once", something Phil has not been able to say yet. Time will tell, and I'm sure it will be exciting!!!!!

Another reason Phil needed the IV instead of drinking was "hinted" at during the final round when Bones gave Phil a sandwich which he "took a huge bit of". When you get sick (my kids did this a couple times) you cannot hold down ANYTHING including liquid. The only alternative is the IV. It is amazing how quickly you bounce back once you get some liquid back in your body!

Yet another "it depends"... This time of the year, I get about -3 inches on my drives. In August, I can get 20 or 30 yards depending on where I play. When the course is playing "short", it is ALWAYS a boost to my "golfer manhood"... I Love hitting those long par 4's with a short iron!

Oh, you mean the "Spitter"? I can't think of anything.......................

Stack and Tilt guys, speak up!
TommyD69 replied to SwinginCaveman's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I don’t like the Stack and Tilt. To me it looks like a reverse pivot. I was watching the pros at Doral on TV yesterday, and the commentators were saying that the pros that tried the Stack and Tilt are abandoning it. Only Mike Weir is still “trying to make it work”… Go see your local PGA professional. -
I like the Vijay and Boo commercial... makes me laugh... Regarding the talking baby, what the heck IS a "shank-a-potimus" anyway!??!

I can snap hook a ball around a building! Drive and 3 wood I hit a semi-high power draw. Hybrids I really have to be careful, I hit a semi-high straight to slight draw. Irons I really hit straight semi-high, but I can hook 'em with the best of 'em! Wedges I hit straight and TOO high. Putter I hit a slight draw.... seriously!

Q. Why does a chicken coupe have two doors? A. Because if it had four doors, it would be a chicken sedan...

Lifting back heel of left foot. (right handed)
TommyD69 replied to Ian's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
A guy named Ben Hogan would "Slightly" lift his left heel at or near the end of his backswing. The lifting of the left heel should not be an intentional act. The heel should/could come up slightly as a result of the tension created in your muscles as you get to the top of your backswing. Another guy named Harvey Penick said, that the first move of your down swing should be the planting of your left heel AND the return of your right elbow to your side (simultaniously). Harvey called it the magic move. -
Hybrid - did you like it right from the start ??
TommyD69 replied to kregan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It took me a little while to get used to them. I like the Cleveland Hi-Bore's. For me, they have the LEAST amount of offset. A hybrid is (in my instance) the same length as the iron it replaces (My irons are 1/2 inch long), I also use steel shafts in my hybrids. I want the hybrid to be as close as possible in length, loft, swing weight, and overall weight to the iron it is replacing to maintain a consistency between all my clubs. The optical problem is, a hybrid looks like a wood, but should be swung like an iron. Your brain adjusts automatically, and it takes a while to learn how to hit a hybrid. Swing it like an iron, and you'll be fine. -
My index is 10.6..... that means if I play a really EASY course, my handicap could go as low as an 8. But if I play a really HARD course, my handicap could go as high as 12! The truth is your handicap will change at almost every course you play (even if your HANDICAP INDEX does not change). What's your handicap index would have been a better question.

I heard Jim Nantz say Freddie was 49 and a half. It sounded funny, but he has six months to win on the regular tour before becoming a senior. I hope he does it... Maybe another Masters??????

It's definitely not me either! We are ALL driving range pros, AND legends in our own minds. It's what gets me thru the day sometimes... It would be cool to have the ear of a touring pro on this forum... maybe we already do..... who knows?

Bringing putter back in a straight line
TommyD69 replied to svchiefs19's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
1) I think your putter is too light... Get a putter that is heavier so centrifugal force will keep your path more on line. 2) STOP looking at your putter head while you are putting... Look at the front of the ball. 3) Swing path doesn't matter as much as you think. Take a look at Billy Mayfair swing a putter. It has more moves in it that Jim Furyk's golf swing. 4) Just put the ball in the hole -
Remember the story of "The kings New Cloths"? It is a fable which tells of how people are willing to ignore the obvious because they want to be "cool", or do not want to look foolish. Sometimes, someone has to say something OUT LOAD in order for people to realize that they are doing something they would “normally” not do or like. What you are describing regarding Michelle Wie has been going on for over a decade with Tiger Woods. Tiger has not played a round of golf since the US Open, and I am still seeing Tiger "highlights" during televised golf tournaments because the "media" can't stand the fact that Tiger’s not there so they can kiss his behind! The only reason you are noticing it now, is because the attention is not lavished all over the "chosen one", and instead is going to someone else... USA Today said it OUT LOUD… Not pretty is it?

I don't watch that much TV that is non sports. I am hooked on LOST, and whenever the BIG BREAK comes on...

There is a golf course in Ohio that MADE the best milk shakes you ever had!! It was miles and miles away from home, but we played there because the milk shakes were that good. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore. They said that they were too expensive to make. Shoot, I'd have paid what ever it cost, but they didn't see it that way, so, no more milk shakes...

Whats the next addition to your golf bag going to be?
TommyD69 replied to svchiefs19's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've got my eye on one of those GIANT Titleist Golf "bath towels" I saw at Golf Galaxy the other day. That's all I need, except a new dozen balls and a golf swing!!!
