Your thoughts on possible new clubs.
bogeyme replied to bogeyme's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for that info. Good to hear someone has tried them and liked the feel. So they didn't have any of the irons to test? Well that sucks. Maybe mine will if I stop in and look around. -

Thanks for the input guys. I won't say that money is an issue but it is kind of. That's not the reason that I'm trying to decide on getting a hybrid over a fairway wood or anything like that. I just thought that the hybrids replaced either the 3, 4, or 5 irons depending on what one you got. I don't see a point in buying a 3-hybrid if I'm already buying a 3 iron in the set. I guess it would make sense if I hit the 3H longer than the 3i. As far as my distance with my driver, I'll be like everyone else and say that with a driver I average about 300 yards. I WISH. I probably hit my 3 wood plus roll, ABOUT 175 maybe 200. I'm not really sure. I think it's a 10.5*. I wouldn't classify me as a beginner per say but I'd imagine the way I play you might call me a beginner. I don't really understand what you mean by the set won't fill my distance gaps. IF I were to buy these clubs this is most likely what I would pick up: 1) Driver 2) 3 Wood 3) Iron Set 3-PW 4) One of the other wedges you mentioned if I could find one that I liked. My current set is: 1) Driver 2) 3-Wood 3) 4-SW On the course I play I know that adding a 3 iron or a hybrid of some sort would help out on the par 5's. Would a 3 iron or a hybrid of some sort fill the gap between my 4i and my 3 wood? But this is all relative to distance differences with the new clubs versus my old clubs (if any). Would the newer clubs add distance just because of the change in technology? I believe the Slazenger Iron set is a "hybrid" set of irons what ever that means. I've got a set that I'm currently using. It's an old set (around 10 years old). It's not that I'm not confident enough to play big courses it's just that I don't really like spending the money on them since it's kind of tight right now. I can go and play the executive muni course a couple of times for the price of the longer more expensive courses. -
If it's even slightly bright out I will have them on just because sometimes it's hard to see without them. I guess it might be sensitive eyes but I don't know.

Ok I'm looking at/thinking about getting new clubs. It most likely won't be until the end of this season or even next season. I'm looking at the Slazenger Raw Distance line. I haven't found many reviews of these clubs but I like the look. I priced out the clubs online at Golf Galaxy. The iron set (3-PW) is on sale right now for $299.99, Driver is $79.99 (9.5*, 10.5*, and maybe 11.5*), Hybrids are $79.99 (3/5/7), Fairway Woods are $79.99 (3/5/7). My question is outside of the iron set and driver would I be better off going with a hybrid or a fairway wood or both? I don't play very many long courses so I'd be ok with just getting a driver and a hybrid or leaving out the driver and getting a fairway wood and a hybrid. What do you guys think would be the best way to go? I will most likely stick with the Slazenger line so all clubs that I get would be Slazy's. Also if I did get a driver what degree would you suggest? Thanks guys and gals.

I didn't hit the course over the weekend but I did venture out to the range. It felt good to get the dust off. I figured out some of my slice problem. Now there's still a little I need to take care of. Now instead of slicing from the beginning my shots are slicing more towards the end of their flight. Over all though it was good to get out and feel the sun warming my skin.

I think my problems are a mixture of things. I have old equipment and I don't play very often. I think if I had newer equipment I MIGHT play a little better. I also know if I played more often with my older equipment I would play better also. I can't justify buying new more expensive equipment if I can't play very well with what I've got. I don't have a practice schedule. My only practice routine is to hit the driving range a couple days before playing. Then maybe hitting the practice range at the course if they have one and putting a little before I start. I haven't played a higher end ball so I'm not sure if I'd notice the difference between them and my Walmar special Top Flites. I'm hoping to try some higher end balls this summer to see if there is a difference in my play. I did take a couple months worth of instruction many years ago. It was free through the Parks and Rec department so the instruction wasn't the greatest but it was a good start. It got me to understand the game.

Ford Ranger. I needed a car and this one was priced right or so I thought. I wish I would have looked a little longer but like I said I needed a car "yesterday" and didn't want to wait until "tomorrow" to buy one. Now I wish I would have waited.

Anything by Stephen King. My favorites have been "The Dark Tower" series (7 books total), and "The Stand". I've got most of his works. That man as quite the imagination.

Welcome from Lancaster. Sure would have been nice to get out the last couple of days if it weren't for the rain. Looks like we have quite the crowd from around Ohio.

Me too and he was a poor car salesman at that.

No one else liked "Chuck and Larry"? That movie was great. Adam Sandler and Kevin James are both very funny and Jessica Beal in her bra and panties. The only other movie I seen in theatres in 07 was "Catch and Release" and it was ok for a chick flick.

I've got black and white saddle shoes. Dunlop I believe. I bought them about 5 years ago. How often do you guys buy new shoes? I was thinking about getting sandels but I wasn't sure if I'd like them. Something about playing in the early morning with the dew still on the ground and sandels just doesn't fit my style.

I was a member for a year or two a few years back. It's not a scam. It's a legit club. But like most other clubs, they send you stuff to buy. If you join don't bank on getting a new Nike Driver to test. So many people join expecting to get a new driver or a set of Callaway clubs. It doesn't happen. Well it does to a few but not everyone gets a new driver or new set of clubs. When I was a member I got to test some $5 swing trainer thing that I didn't even know how to use. I also got a Brush-T just for reviewing a video. It was something they mailed me hoping I would buy it and the 100 other tapes in teh collection. I didn't though. I wasn't into golf that much when I was a member so I let me membership expire. I'm not sure the $18 or $24 was really worth it though. You could always do a trial membership and see if you like it though.

Are most people exagerating their long drive exploits
bogeyme replied to jfrain2004's topic in Golf Talk
It has to be true because I read it on the internet and everyone says that what's on the internet is the truth. I agree with most of you that many people exagerate about the lengths of their drives. -
I voted other. I think my irons are Makers Pride??? My uncle made up the set for me. I'm not sure if they were a set he bought or if he bought all the things to make the clubs. They work for me I guess. I won't be getting my tour card anytime soon though.

Which Wedge Do You Use Most Often?
bogeyme replied to FutureSound's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I use my pitching wedge the most. I only use the sandwedge in the sand. But after reading some of these replies I might have to get the sandwedge out of the bag a little more often and let it play. -
Is it possible for Guitar Hero to be too sweet?
bogeyme replied to BigHitta's topic in The Grill Room
I know what you mean about growing out of them. I go through spurts of time in which I want to play. My wife and I would usually play Tiger Woods golf on the x-box just about every night. Then when we moved we stopped playing as much. Then we got the PS2 and the Guitar Hero games and she plays them all the time. I like Tiger Woods golf on the PS2. I really like the Wii. It's a lot more fun than the PS2 or the x-box I think. I like the sports package of games. The Tennis, and Bowling are the best. The golf is kind of hard but I haven't played it much though. I think you'll have fun with the Wii. -
:cough: :cough: Wow someone knocked the dust off this thread. I started when I was about 12 or 13. I got a set of clubs for my 12th or 13th birthday. I played a lot with my aunts and uncles growing up. Then when I got older I played less. I wanted to play in high school but never tried out or signed up for the golf team. Then after my sophmore year I went to a Technical School so I wasn't at my "home school" so I didn't event think about playing for the high school. I wish I would have played in high school. I took up fishing after I graduated high school and didn't play golf much because I was always fishing on the weekends. Recently my fishing buddy sold his boat so that opens up time for me to get out on the course. I'm looking forward to this coming spring so I can get out and play golf some and hopefully improve my game.

Is it possible for Guitar Hero to be too sweet?
bogeyme replied to BigHitta's topic in The Grill Room
I love the game. Got hooked on it at a friends place and had to buy a PS2 and GH 1 & 2. I'm not sure yet if I will pick up The 80's or not. I probably will just so I have the collection. I am getting a little burnt out on it though but my wife loves it. I prefer to play real games on the PS2. I picked up Tiger Woods 08 and love that game. -
I voted semi snob. I've always started a new round with a new ball. I usually lose a sleeve of balls a round too. If I'm lucky I'll only lose 1 or 2 balls a round. It's not that I have the money to burn but for some reason I just like to use a new ball to start out with. I'm still trying to use up a dozen balls that I got for Christmas a few years ago and a couple that I bought real cheap. If I don't lose the ball it goes in the bag and will be used again probably the next round after I lose a couple of balls. I usually carry 3 new sleeves of balls with me in my bag. After I lose my first sleeve I will use a ball I have played with previously. I usually only play maybe 5 times a year so I'm not using up a whole lot of new balls in a year.

Which ball do you use? or prefer?
bogeyme replied to Robiola the Monster's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
How do you like the Slazenger's? I bought some around Christmas. Actually I bought some as a gift for someone and got another dozen free so I kept them for myself to use. I usually play what ever was on sale the last time I went to the Big Box stores. It's usually top flite. Last year (July 07) I won a dozen Pro V1's at a golf tournament at work. So I'm going to play them some this year and I'll work the Slazy's in also. I'm not sure that either will help my game any but you never know. Maybe they will give me a little more confidence and I'll play better because of it. I voted Pro V1 since the ball I usually play isn't up there. -
That would get you into one of if not the best Private Club. My aunt and uncle are members at a semi private club in Tennessee. I think they get unlimited golf, and pool. The best part is they are pretty much nieghbors to the golf course so when ever I travel down that way it takes me a whole minute to get to the course. They also have their own golf carts so I'm on the course as soon as I get there. I'm not sure how much they pay but I know I drop $35 a round when I play down there.
-
Oh how I'd like to complain because it's ONLY going to get into the 60's. It's ONLY going to be in the 30's this weekend I think. One of these days it's going to warm up. I'm sure.
-
I have the same problem. I don't think mine is a push. I think it's 100% slice. I wish i could figure it out. I just close the club head at address and it "solves" the problem. It's not really the solution I would like but it works most of the time.

You would atleast have a nice tan by the end of the summer though. I know what you mean though. I usually count on losing atleast 3 golf balls while I'm out. Sometimes I'm lucky and only lose 1. One of these days I'll be more consistant and I won't lose any while I'm out.
