  1. You can look at the AP1's, but I'd go with the 2's if you get the AP line. I had the 1's for about 2 months last year and traded them in on MP57's which I love. The AP1's were too game improvement and were distracting to look at address. Just my opinion. Lot's of choices out there. MP52, MP57, AP2's, Nike Split Cavity
  2. Good post. This makes sense, I've taken this approach before and shot some of my lowest scores. My first time breaking 80 two years ago, I only hit driver off the tee I think 7 times and the course was a average length. Playing to your strengths and making smart decisions = good scores if you are hitting the ball decent.
  3. The head does not determine the launch, it's mainly the shaft. You could get the split cavity VR's with the high launch DG shaft and I'm sure the #'s on the launch monitor would be the same. I had the AP1's and traded them in for the MP57's after only 1 month. I hated the thickness of the AP1's and I love my Mizzy's. Just make sure you find a club you like with the right shaft. Good luck !!
  4. Probably going to pick up a couple of the new spin milled vokey's. Not sure what lofts yet.
  5. As you can see in my sig, I'm a big fan of PING woods and hybrids. They are long, feel great on impact, and if you get the right shaft you can work them and land shots pretty soft IMO. Never had a Titleist fairway, they look nice, but till PING steers me wrong, I probably won't switch.
  6. I'd go with AP2's or MP62's based off of what you are looking at. Won't go wrong either way.
  7. You can place individuals orders. Just give them a call. You can get your initials on them if you want for an extra $5. The traditional wool Pom driver headcover is $45. I can't remember the cost of the tassles. I ordered driver, 3wood, and utility.
  8. I just ordered the traditional wool pom driver, and tassle 3 wood and utility from Iliac in black / white. Got them initialized so they'll ship out late next week. http://www.iliacgolf.com/
  9. I agree stretching the arm and shoulder area and rest are the best things u can do. I hurt my left elbow, (lefty) last year and those 2 things are the best you can do IMO. It takes a while to heal depending on how bad it is. It could take several months. I think changing your lifestyle which created the problem is the biggest key though in addition to the stretching and rest. Good luck.
  10. Not a fan of Taylor Made drivers. I bought the R7 when it first came out in 04 or 05 and didn't really care for it. Like many have said, too many options. All I care about is hitting a driver with a tight draw or straight, and length off the tee is a big key. I'm not trying to work the driver like a 8 iron. Also, like many have said, TM releases too many drivers. That drives me nuts.
  11. I think i'm going to pick up a PDG grind 53 degree. They dropped the price $50. Here is a link about the groove rule from golf.com. Sounds like for top amateur events, the rules won't change till 2014. http://blogs.golf.com/equipment/2008...announces.html
  12. mp-57 with true temper dynamic gold R300's Best irons I've ever hit.
  13. I think PiKapp covered it all. Nice post. Picking out a wedge is almost more complicated than a driver sometimes.
  14. This is the dumbest post I've seen. Everyone who gets sucked in to actually answering this person's question, I'm sorry. Anyone on this site I'd bet knows, get fit to find the real answer, but the majority of the time graphite will produce more yards as long as the person is fit correctly. Also, I don't think handicap # and golf knowledge automatically go in hand. If you are educated, smart, and have common sense, it doesn't take a low handicap # to provide good advice.
  15. i've bought both Golf and Golf Digest for $10 a year each. I get Golf Fitness too, but can't remember the price on that one.
  16. Very intersting thread. I wonder what Tiger's handicap would be?
  17. Anyone own a "Scratch" wedge ? I'm thinking about buying one. From reviewing their website and talking with the companies owner, they look pretty awesome. Just wondering if they are $90 better than a Vokey.
  18. I've got one. Bought it last winter. I don't do a ton with it. Mainly work out at the gym, but I like using it to swing my weighted club while maintaining balance on it. Great exercise. There is a lot of exercises you can do with it (just google Bosu exerices), so I'd say it's worth the cost if you use it.
  19. When looking at new irons, pay close attention to the shaft since you say you hit your current irons too high. The shaft has a lot to do with the ball flight so new irons alone won't solve that problem. I went to DG R300's in my new irons to bring my flight down. As far as iron options: check out Titleist AP1 and 2 and Mizuno MP 52, 57. Driver: Can't go wrong with the new Titleist. Also check out the new Rapture V2.
  20. I have 2 Cameron's, Newport 2 Detour and Circa 62 #2 and I can tell the difference between the two putters. The Circa feels so much nicer and more pure. With that putter, I can tell when I'm striking putts well or not based on the amazing feel. Good luck !!
  21. Cool, I'm ordering the 52 as well, but in no real hurry since it's winter where I'm at. Might grab a 56 too.
  22. 78 on par 71. Handicap is 9 right now. Had some good nine's (37, lot of 39's, but couldn't always put the whole round together).
  23. I love my 57's. I got mine about 2 months ago. Traded in AP1's for them. Wasn't a fan of those. I went with the 57's over the 52's cause they felt great and looked better IMO. I had no choice with the 62's since I'm a lefty.
  24. I'd get one if they were a little cheaper. 44 is too much for that IMO. I just got a new pivot tool and oil cloth today which total including shipping was $20 from Scotty C. I couldn't justify spending an extra 40 bucks for a ball marker.
  25. Interested as well to here some reviews. I got the MP57's about a month ago and love them. Mizuno's MP line is pretty amazing. I debated between the 52's and 57's and went with the 57's cause I hit them real well when I demoed them and just love the look.
