  1. I often practice on my course when it's slow and one day after hitting my tee shot to the green, I dropped a handful of balls on the tee and I ended up sinking the 4th shot. I smirked a little but I didn't even think (until now) that it was worth telling anyone about.
  2. Cool post, I remember seeing those tiger pics and I was surprised there wasn't more said about the position of tigers ball mark. I can't imagine how many shots it must take to create those marks. I've broken 6 clubs that have been reshafted and I don't have anything that resembles that. I've hit at least 10000 shots with a number of my irons and they have just snapped near the hosel after all of that abuse.
  3. Is this CiCi? I think that it is.
  4. It took me 45 seconds to load the website and then to click into this thread. (compared to say 4 seconds to do the same on ****wrx.com) My computer is a Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00 Ghz, 3.46 GB of RAM. I'm on a T1 line and I work in an I.T department so our connections are about as fast as they come. (My desktop obviously not brand new though) I also got this: Pinging thesandtrap.com 67.228.167.131 with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Ping statistics for 67.228.167.131: Packets: Sent = 4, recieved = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss) and it just took about 40 seconds following this loading before I could edit it, anyway I also use firefox and chrome, about the same from what I can tell.
  5. I dont want to sign up for anything but I was about to make this same post. I'm at work and I've never been on a slow site before. I can go to websites with crazy amounts of javascript, movies, animations galore and they load instantly but for whatever reason this site is dreadfully slow. I can't even scroll up and down the page quickly and when go to quickly close or open the window it will sometimes just lag forever. I can actually type faster than this cursor can keep up with me, thats crazy!
  6. I see that you just joined recently, welcome to the site. BTW a quick search will show that we have had 100's of pages of this thread in the past.
  7. Thats in response to people that say that they are unable to turn their hips completely in jeans because they are too restictive.
  8. s I see long drive champion Sadlowski hitting 400 yard drives in jeans, youtube it. Jeans are not 'too restictive' thats silly!
  9. I hit balls everywhere :) I'll just drive around until I see a big open park area and get out and hit golf balls. I've never had anyone say anything to me, in fact in college I used a soccer field almost everyday to hit balls in front of my apartment and after a couple weeks there were a bunch of other people that would come and hit golf balls in the same spot. It basically turned into a driving range. It bordered on annoying when I wanted to go out and hit balls and there we already three people lined up on one side of the field hitting shag bags. It was a perfect place though, they kept it mowed and it was ~250 yards and probably 50 yards wide. It even had an elevated hill that you could hit from like a teebox. One warning though in most places you will quickly realize just how far 100-130 yards really is, a park will look like it has plenty of a space until you knock a ball into the surrounding neighborhood. :)
  10. Funny, funny post. CICI is the greatest troll I have ever encountered on any board. He's obviously a troll but he is so skilled even I can't be 100% sure of this fact....
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if you find a number of things easier at first. I'd imagine its a lot easier for you to hit a big slice down the fairway as opposed to a draw or a straight shot. You might also find that it's easier to hit low lofted shots out of deep grass instead of flopping a wedge. You might find that you are more consistent putting from 20 yards out on the fairway vs chipping with a wedge. Maybe its easier for you to hit a half swing 3 wood vs a full 8 iron on a 150 yard par three. If you are new to golf a lot of things that are in the long run more consistent but that are really difficult at first. My friend picks the ball cleanly out of the bunker(well not at first, several times he will duff it) but then he will just walk up and chip it. You will find there are a bunch of bunker situations where it very difficult to just chip out. If there is a lip to get over, or if the ball is sitting in the sand a bit. If you play enough golf you might also find that hitting out of the bunker can be suprisingly consistent. If you catch the ball a bit fatter than you intend to it will roll out further and end up in about the same spot as would have if you had caught it 'cleaner' where it will have a bunch of spin but fly a bit further and stop on a dime. If you watch pros practice out of bunkers they come pretty close to holing out shots like its no big deal. In short, don't make to many assumptions to quickly, like "this is easier so it must be better." Some of these things are like 'the advanced secrets of golf'' you could practice hitting an 8 iron out of deep rough from 20 yards away for ever and never get really consistent with it. Then someone might come along and say, "Hey if you are willing to put in the time, there is an advanced technique that over time will make you more consistent in this situation, its called a flop! ":) Of course at first it seems crazy to think that taking a full swing with a super lofted club and cutting underneath the ball can ever be accurate but it can be because it reduces unknown variables like how the grass is going to interact with your club. (flop vs low lofted chip)
  12. I have/had almost the same thing going on. The majority of my rounds this year have been in the in the low mid 80's and then out of nowhere I started doing crap I haven't done in years. I've been topping shots off the tee, hitting shots O.B in places I've never been before(where I've never ever considered for that matter) I played on friday and shot a 101, yikes. Every time I hit driver I hit a 200 yard quack hook thing, well up until the last two holes where I hit huge push slices(obvious compensation) I've also been hitting multiple shots thin, skying etc.. My misses were starting to freak me out, an old miss would have been a shot that drew to much or not enough heck on a par three I hit a knuckle ball fade with a nine iron that never got more than 15 feet off the ground and plugged into the side of a bunker. Pfthh, how do I fix that?! :) Anyway, I just decided to see a pro. I've never had lessons but I have my first one scheduled tuesday. Apparently hitting hundreds of balls a day for several years in itself has not provided me with a foolproof swing.
  13. I'm not sure I can buy that 300 yards with a putter business, or 260 with a six iron. Next time you are out at the course stand 300 yards from the green and visualize getting there with a putter. I just can't even concieve of it.
  14. My friend bought a brand new ping driver years ago and the club pro at our course asked if could take a look at it. He took a semi-practice swing with it and bounced it off the pavement. It made a horrible sound and then he handed it back to my friend who had a bit of shock in his expression. The club pro assured him that the scrapes would not affect the peformance.

  16. A couple things: One, I can't see the second video, not sure why. Two: I'm not sure I agree with you Iacas or at least I can't wrap my head around using the bounce of the club from really tight lies. I spent the first of years playing just not being able to hit shots very well off hardpan or dirt lies. It wasn't until I read something about avoiding the bounce in the club was I able to hit this shot with any consistency. I close the face a bit and lean the club forward to hide the bounce and catch the ball first with the leading edge. I've actually seen some good illustrations online that show how the bounce causes the leading edge to float too high and near the balls equator requiring a very precise angle to avoid the dreaded skulled shot. I know it can be done, I can pick a ball off cement using the bounce but not with any consistency or control. What was the downside to digging again? I've been practicing like crazy in my yard with my new vokey wedges and I seem to get the most control from taking some sizable divots, even on 20-30 yard pitches. seems to be the popular advice: A quick search on bounce and tight lies contradicts the advice to use bounce. I've been trying to follow Stan Utley's advice on pitches regarding using the bounce to skim the wedge along the ground, which works great in fluffy lies, but I really don't get how that's supposed to work in a tight lie. Every time I try to pitch without hitting the ball first on a hard fairway, I skull it horribly. --> http://thesandtrap.com/forum/thread/20206/short-pitches-on-tight-lies HEY! :)
  17. Is this actually true? I'm surprised if it isn't that Iacas hasn't had a thread about it. :) I feel like the more down I hit the lower the ball goes. It seems like as you increase the amount of swinging down you decrease the amount of loft on the club. (Think hands way in front of the ball) I also watched a video on youtube where the commentators showed in slow mo how (baddley maybe) hit the ball so low off the tee by hitting down on the ball. I also find that when I hit the ball as level as possible with my wedges I get the highest ball flight and the most spin. So whats the deal?
  18. I don't think they look that bad. You need to quit hitting the ball all over the face though. :)
  19. Well yea, if you did a who's your favorite golfer poll, Tiger would win hands down. I think I would root against Lee Westwood.
  20. Thanks! As you probably know, I do struggle with getting my low point in front of the ball, I get pretty good contact but I can't get that 4 inches in front of the ball low point, it just feels impossible. I suppose this is why. So it looks like I'm a little underplane then? Thats a pretty big change since my shank vid. I do find that sometimes when I feel like I'm hitting the ball really well I'm starting the ball way to far right and drawing it left of the fairway, especially with my 3 wood. It looks great at first but then it keep turning. Could you explain where the uncocking occurs? I'm not sure where that is happening. I'll work on these things, Thanks again!
  21. How should I keep the club on the inside? It sounds like I'm doing it one way but should be doing it another way. And by off the wall do you mean shifting forward dtl?
  22. Whoa, just noticed that? Why am I doing that? (what does it cause?) Also, Iacas I was hoping for a little more info out of you... I just watched a tiger vid to figure out what the head should do, it looked like it dropped and moved back a little, he was hitting driver though. Hmm, Hogan grid shows the head moving forward on the downswing.
