    Mock shirt

I agree, I'd normally just walk out... the problem was it was a qualifier tournament for a regional USGA event, that I've paid $150 entry fee already. I doubt they'd refund me if I refuse to play due to dress code at that place

    Mock shirt

Sorry rembrandt, but you lost me. I understand what you say about gentleman's game, dress code, etc. - I'm very traditional myself, i.e. never playing in shorts unless it's 120+ degrees... What I'm missing however is the point - why does it HAVE TO be collared shirt? Esthetically it's not a issue, you can't compare it to a tank-top or a wife-beater shirt, cut-off jeans or anything like that. What makes the collar so much better than a mock??? Again - tradition is not an argument, since Gary Player introduced mocks in the 50's already. I think 50 years can be considered as "traditional". Esthetically collar does not have advantage over a mock. What is the reason? I've no idea. I know it's a free country and I someone creates a private club and requires everybody to wear kilts - he's free to do so. What really ticks me off is that private course staff is greedy enough to try to make money on sale of mock-shirts while they prohibit them from being worn during play. That's just plain stupid.
  3. talking about confict of intrest I'm up by 2 points and my opponent has Jay Feely. I actually hope NYG will score some defensive TD's and Feely misses a couple of field goals ( minus points in my league ;- ) ).
  4. I've been forced by unnamed staff members to tell the story... might this be a lesson to you all! "The Angry Golfer or Complete Idiot" yeah, that's me. I actually qualify for both categories After a series of shanks I was on the tee of a par 3 - 180 yds, slight wind into me, water guarding the green all along the right side. I proceeded to place a wonderful slice right in the middle of the lake ... Disgusted with myself, holding my 4 iron in the left hand I swang at the ground with pure intention of making a 2 ft deep divot, just to release the accumulated anger... should've know better. My swing was so off that day, that I missed the ground, whiffed completly and instead of releasing the anger... I released the club on the follow through !!!! It went right over the heads of my playing partners with a nice high draw trajectory... right into a small pond on the left side of the tee box. Oh yea, right in the middle of it. Good 20ft away from the edge with NO chance of retrieval. I'm a idiot. In my defense (and I hope people who played with me can testify to that) - I rarely destroy the enjoyment of the round when I'm bad. In my case it's a explosion right after (repeated) bad shot, but 10 seconds later I'm smiling and talking again. IMHO people who stay in a pissy mood for the entire round are much harder to tolerate. At least with me all you have to do is duck once... and still enjoy the day
  5. ok Everado you made me create a thread on my 4 iron now see under "golf talk" - "The Angry Golfer or Complete Idiot" .
  6. I recenltly had to replace my 4 iron due to ... let's say a accident I bought sonartec MD 23 degree and it is longer than my 4 iron. It carries consistently 195 - 200 yards, where my 4 iron was in the 180-190 range. I guess the more consistant contact and the graphite shaft would add some distance for you too, 21 degree hybrid might work more like a 2 iron... by the way - if you're looking for a sonartec - don't forget to ask Everado for a deal - he's sandtrap staff member who also is a authorized sonartec dealer
  7. Big D is going down tonight. I've a good feeling about the G-Man and Eli. Huge game - with Philly going downhill (faster than Paris Hilton on her boyfriend) - this could be the game that decides the division. Huuuuuge.
  8. welcome. just to set things straight - we're not a "nice bunch" (at least some of us) and you'll not learn much here... (at least not from me) but if you enjoy B.S. about golf - you came to right place! make sure you start from visiting the "golf jokes" thread in the "grill room" section and see if you can add anything - it's been quiet there lately...
  9. yeah, these titleist clubs are really nice... however I think the most beautiful set I ever saw was the Taylor Made rac MB blades in BLACK finish. never hit the market, couple sets sold for about $1400 on ebay, can't find pictures of them anywhere. Boy were they sweet looking
  10. oh yea, the GolfGods! Of course it's always a option... he can't call you guys at 866 number though - Steve is 13 years old and lives in UK
  11. play a round or play around? Michelle Wie for version 1, Natalie Gulbis for the version 2
  12. really? DO YOU? what gives you that idea he better keeps that up to win, everybody and their brother are going low at Mickey's place. he's only 3 clear of 2nd after 5 holes in second round, needs to throw in a few more birdies before this one is over.
  13. I'd post it in "Equipment"... that's almost $250. For that money I think you can snipe a nice used set on eBay, like last year model or something. Even with shipping to UK - IMHO u'd be better off having a solid brand-name set than Dunlop's clubs. If you were to play tennis, that would be a different story
  14. Justin Rose's start : birdie, birdie, birdie, par, birdie, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie... SICK !!!
  15. No and Yes are the answers... 3-4 rounds every weekend, occasional 1-2 rounds late afternoons, use all vacation + personal days for thursdays/fridays to make a long weekend trip out of it The second "yes" is the key. She plays a lot and she's hooked as well - much easier to explain to her that I simply HAVE TO play when it's 70' and sunny She dropped her hcp from 31 to 24 this year, just a sign of better things to come !
  16. I took quite a few lessons in the past and this term never came up The natural motion is for the club to come in to the inside of "the line", I can't imagine trying to follow it at all... Was "the guy" a teaching pro?
  17. so which one is it? in the other post it was : I guess it's easy to get mixed up if you pulling these numbers out of your ... Or did you work out and added 25 yards on each club within last 40 minutes?
  18. I guess I'm the winner... my "contract" says I can play whenever I want, where ever I want. Practice sessions are unlimited and uncontrolled. The only obligation - participation in her-side family events (b-day dinners, etc.) about 4 - 5 times a year. I'm 100+ rounds for the year with 6 trips to Myrtle, one trip to St. Andrews, 1 week in SC/NC for the Newport Cup... Send me $100 to my paypal account and I'll tell you how to do it
  19. excuse me, but I'm missing something. You're comparing a 20hcp to Tiger? ok, I guess if we talk swing speed only - anybody athletic enough could be compared. Let's put this a side. Now - you're comparing a "Tiger swing out of the shoes from a flyer lie" to 20hcp dude's "average" distance? hm... Call me crazy - I ain't buying it. Bravo Sierra it is.
  20. if you have the cahunas to wear that on a driving range... go ahead My wife bought me once the "swing jacket" for my bday. Luckily she was reasonable enough to let me send it back unpacked. If you get stuff like that you're only a step away from looking like TinCup before US Open I bet you for the same money you can get at least 1 if not 2 hrs with a teaching pro. IMHO - more sensible investment
  21. Try to get hold of Adam Sandler. He had the same problem in "Happy Gilmore" movie Maybe he can help you. People who visit this site are real, not fictional like you and Happy
  22. unless you're about 9ft toll and build like Hulk (not Hogan, that Green thing) - I go on a record and say you're full of it. What's your real agenda posting this b.s. here?
  23. I went once to a DEA outing (my company sponsored it). Thinking it will be a serious event I quickly realized, that it won't How you might ask? When I noticed that the cart in a front of me, instead of golf bags strapped in in the usual spot had a huge garbage can strapped in, filled with ice and beer Clubs were inserted sideways into the basket behind the seats Needless to say - there was not much golf played that day. These guys know how to party... Scary thought though - I guess all of them were 'packing'. I made sure I don't piss anybody off by hitting into them, picking up a wrong ball etc. They had terrific prizes and raffles - including a cruise tickets for two !!!
  24. that's why I'm sticking with the PC. ALL courses are available to import, from all the older versions. Further it comes with the Course Designer - if you're patient enough you can build your own or download off the web several hundreds of user-created courses. Only thing that bothers me - all imported courses are not used when you're in carreer mode They are also controllers in form of a 1/2 length golf club... you can actually swing the club to control the game. I didn't go to this extreme, but it's there if you want it!
  25. no jokes needed, it's a joke on it's own but seriously - yea, that's some scary s..tuff. About 12-13 years ago while living in Germany I experienced pretty decent one ( the epi-centrum was in Turkey or northern Italy...) It sounded like a HUUUGE truck was driving by or a huge cargo plane flew right over the house. The lamp was rocking, books flew out of shelfs and I woke up scared shitless I guess since it happend middle of the night it was even worse - I needed some time to figure out what was going on. Something is happening... first Hawaii, now NC... wonder what's next.
