I used to feel the way you do. I would also go as far as to say that I used to feel bad for the guy early on when he first starting having problems. But now I feel differently. He is in such huge denial, he makes a spectacle of himself time and time again. Yes, the media does highlight his "screwups" and personally I am tired of hearing about him in any light at this point. It's hard to like a guy who doesn't even seem to like himself.

Keep playing, be curtious to others use common sense (it sounds like you are now anyhow) and you'll be fine. Don't worry too much about the guys who think they own the place.

Club Fitting/lie angle Question
rangerat replied to juanrjackson's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Maybe he meant one degree not one inch? Also, I have never heard of a club going back after one year (I don't believe that). At 5'10" standard lie clubs should be about right for you but you need to get on a lie board to be sure. Cast clubs can be more difficult to bend but if you stick to one or two degrees it is usually ok. -
It depends on who you talk to and what you choose to believe. Try one for yourself and you decide. I can say that a lot of the guys that compete in the LDA do in fact use Cobra drivers.

Swing Trainers: What, if any, do you use?
rangerat replied to LottaBalata's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I am a gear nut. I own the Medicus, Inside Approach, Kallassy Swing Magic, Speed Stik and the Momentus Iron. I have seen the one you are considering on the Golf Channel. To be honest it looks kind of scary to me. I imagine that band coming free and whacking me in the side of the head. I'm sure that it is in fact safe but I don't think I'll go for that one just the same. -
Me too...more info. on where to get one of these...

I believe that golf shoes are a must have. I take a fairly aggressive swing and if I'm not wearing spikes my right foot will tend to slip out of my stance. As for the clubs, the age is not as important as the quality, specs. and tpye of clubs.

Why is there still a fear of the Lob Wedge?
rangerat replied to Stacey_E's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I carry a 60* wedge, use it a lot, have great success with it, love it. In my opinion, I think the "fear" of the club is because it is not as easy to use right out of the gate. People try it and are initially baffled by it and give up on it in a very short time. It does take some practice and gained confidence. I practice with this club more than any other club simply because my back yard is about 85-90 yards; perfect for this club. I play with a guy who has a lower handicap but admits that he lacks confdence with a 60* thus is scared to even try it most of the time. He does carry one but only uses it in what he sees to be the "perfect" situation for the club. -
The club shaft is also contributing factor...

Taylormade RAC LT Irons
rangerat replied to gsu_paintballer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I play the Taylormade RAC LT2 irons and I like them a lot. I am 6' tall and mine are bent 1* upright. It would probably cost you under $50 to get on a lie board and have them bent to match your personal specifications (height, swing, etc.). 2* flat is typically for a person who is on the shorter side. If you are not shorter, the lie might cause problems for you such as hitting it to the right. -
Dear Santa, I would like the Nike Tour SQ Stand Bag, Taylormade Z TP 60* Lob Wedge and the Medicus Power Meter.

I have been doing research and had narrowed it down to the same two bags. I am partial to OGIO as my last two bags have been OGIO (a Spyke and an Ozone) and I really liked them both. I looked at both at my local Golf Galaxy which helped me decide on the Nike. I like the 14 full length dividers on the Nike, the Ogio does not have this and it is one of the reasons I am looking for a new bag (club tangle annoys me). Also, in the store three of the Ogio bags on the shelf had problems. Two had the hinges on the stand legs messed up and the third had a broken rain HOODE (Ogio's cool new rain hood system). Just my two cents, I am sure that they are both good bags.

Only you can answer this question. For me, I like practicing and improving, tinkering with my swing. I have come to realize that when I make a change I may get worse before I get better, but I love the feeling when it "clicks" and I do get better for my efforts. I love the equipment, gear and course management. I however, can also see the other side. I regularly play with a guy who uses 20 year old irons, makes no effort to change his swing, etc. and is a bogey golfer. Despite the fact that he has never improved in the 6 years we have played together he stills loves to get out and play golf. For him getting better does not matter, simply "getting out" is what matters to him. Bottom line; if you're happy with golf as it is for you...enjoy!

Try hitting with your feet together or at least very close. This is a drill that may help with your problem. It promotes proper weight shift.

For me, the less I play the worse my tempo gets. When I think about and practice having good tempo my scores are better.

Interesting Urban Legend but not true ... http://www.snopes.com/politics/ballot/redskins.asp

I have used many different types and styles of nets but they all seem to eventually bust out. I would suggest, especially for indoor use, a large peice of heavy canvas (industrial painters tarp). I don't mind nets that break through outside but in the house, that could get interesting.

It could be that you are not transferring your weight properly to your left side.

I want to beleive... but, nope, it's not reality. ganjagolfer, it's just a pipe dream; pun intended.
-
None for me. I know some guys like the "swing lube" effect but for me it wouldn't take much to interfere with course management.

What brand of club holds its value best?
rangerat replied to Alex1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't know the answer to this but I can say that a buddy of mine just picked up a set of Ping Eye 2 irons that he is playing regularly. They are very old but he loves them. -
"Big" Glue hole in Callaway FT-5

Just wondering, is it possible that these are not legit clubs but rather fakes that we are hearing a lot about lately??? Just wondering....
