  1. I agree with this statement, I too would seek you out if I lived in your area!
  2. Shortly after I took up golf, (as an adult) I was teeing off on a long par 5 and really want to smash one. Well, there was this bathroom (wooden shack meant to look like an old outhouse) near the tee box. I hit the ball off the toe so hard and it goes straight right through the moon cut-out on the door and loudly bangs around inside like a pin ball machine. I say. "jeez there was no one in there I hope" or some such thing. My playing partner deadpans "if there was they're dead now". (it was unoccupied, I checked)
  3. Yes, HDTV here, but for some reason The Golf Channel is not broadcast in HDTV for me (Time Warner). When the golf is on one of the major networks I love to watch it in HDTV!
  4. I am always curious as to what equipment the pros are using. I read the "what's in the bag" sections but I can't find any real data on the length of the drivers shafts used by the pros. I searched the internet and did find minimal data from 4-5 years ago. Good article at http://www.usatoday.com/sports/golf/...ing-labs_x.htm Is there a place that does give solid information on the equipment pros are using i.e. shaft length etc.?
  5. The best thing about the Medicus is that it does teach good tempo. This is why people can put bad swings on it and it will not break, becuase they are using good tempo. So the caveat here is, if your swing is already good, use the Medicus to work on your tempo.
  6. I would hate to accidently whack the range basket or shaft with a club that I like though.
  7. USGA decision 2001-496: This or any similar training tool is not considered to be a 15th club, therefore you can keep it in your bag during any round. You cannot, however, take it out and use it in any way during the course of the round without incurring a penalty. I use an old shaft for the same purpose. Alignment is so important.
  8. Thanks giantbear, any input I get on the shanks I will take into consideration.
  9. I have used different brands, Carbite, Never Compromise, etc. But I always go with a center shafted blade, they seem to work best for me. I am currently using a Taylormade which a like a lot.
  10. I agree that most want to hit the long ball. I might sacrifice minimal distance for straighter drives but ultimately I would always choose a 300+ yard drive that I had to gouge out of the rough.
  11. I own the Medicus and I feel that it is just "OK" but not great. I assume that you slice a lot. I would suggest the Inside Approach. You can actually build a similar device with PVC pipe and foam pipe insulation for about $6.00.
  12. I use/own a Medicus, Kallassy’s Swing Magic, Inside Approach, a weighted iron, SpeedStik and the Swing Glove. I have also used a net in my back yard but I agree that this can ingrain bad habits. My two favorite aids are the SpeedStik and the Swing Golve.
  13. Phil Mickelson works with Dave Pelz on his short game, he's (Phil) sort of successful.
  14. For me, it is definately the dreaded shanks . I usually have a good idea as to what I am doing wrong when the other things happen but with the shanks it is so elusive for me.
  15. I have used a lot of different irons, Cobra, Snake Eyes, Ram, etc. but I really like my Taylormade LT2 irons. They are quite forgiving with not too much offset and they have a thinner top line and sole. They play well and look good at setup.
  16. I used to put a straight line on the seam but now I just put one purple dot under the Taylormade logo. I found the line too distracting.
  17. I stay grounded with all clubs but NOT with the driver off the long tee...it hovers.
  18. Not only do I put it back in the exact same place but I usually give it a quick cleaning with the brush. I don't see myself as OCD in other areas of life but I guess that in this case...
  19. I suggest that you get some impact tape and put it on the face of the driver to see where you are making contact (as you said you might be nailing the hosel). I have a fast driver swing speed, clocked as high as 130 and I caved in the face of my old Cobra SZ 440. I did break a shaft once but it was on an iron and it was from hitting the ground.
  20. There are two basic things that could cause a slice, either an incorrect swing path (outside to in) or an open face at impact (or both). I would be interested to know if your slice starts straight then goes right or if it starts right then goes more right or some other path. There are so many things that you could try to correct a slice but it makes the most sense to first try to figure out what fault is causing your particular problem. Observing the ball flight can get you on the right track to diagnosing the dreaded slice.
  21. During the "off season" (usually Novermber-March where I live) my workout is focused on staying in shape specifically for golf. I workout 3-5 times per week. My workout consists of 15-20 mins. stretching, 30 mins. cardio, and 30 mins. on the weights focusing on the core muscles for golf. I also swing my Speedstik in the living room a lot, my wife hates this but it keeps the golf muscles active.
