  1. The Ryder Cup is competition not an exhibition. Even if it was an exhibition where is the pride in doing your best. Did Jack, Arnie, and Lee have losing records?
  2. I wonder how many could have practiced till they were better and win? I think Tiger could have reached another level or two higher if he needed to do that to win. I have read that Jack only practed his short game just enough to win. He had back problems.
  3. If a player can't produce a winning record in 3 ryder cups he shouldn't play. All he does is put points on the European side of the scoreboard. We have used 3 of the greatest stroke play players of today and each one has had total losing records. What would our Ryder cup record be if Tiger, Phil and Jim had each one produced one more win point than losses each year. Transfer three points from the european score to the American side.
  4. I hate the guy with the high speed cart who races to his ball that is 30 yards in front of mine. And then he sits in his cart between me and the green. And waits for me to hit my shot over him.
  5. What you and I think should be is right is not necessarily what will happen in court. The law is not clear so that lawyers can make a living. And the situation can be an invitation to a court case. You don't go to court without a lawyer and a simple court case can cost $5000 to $10,000 in legal fees. That's why I have golf liability insurance. It doesn't cost much and also covers mishaps with golfers and the golf cart.
  6. The worst is: 1. Trying to enforce incorrect penalty's on other players. 2. Trying to force me to make swing changes. 3. Driving ahead of me and stopping so I have to hit past your cart. 4. Unsolicited coaching.
  7. I have heard and read many wise answers to your question. Some may sound silly, but they are correct. 1. Always pursue your dreams while you are young. 2. Your destiny lies down the road of your dream and hard work. 3. It will have real hard times, but real progress always comes after frustration. 4. Life is tough and it takes hard work to achieve anything of merit. 5. Don't wake up when you are older wishing you had tried.
  8. I like to play as a single in orderto get paired up with strangers, just to make new friends. IT is surprising how many people get mad if someone behind them plays faster than they do. It is shocking how many people take it as an insult if you play right behind them. and they wont invite them to play through unless the alpha players in their foursome suggests it. It is kinda funny, to watch men's reactions when a foursome of women are playing faster behind them.
  9. .83 COR is only measured at a swing speed of 90 MPH. Who knows what COR Bubba, Dustin, and Jason have available at their swing speeds of over 115 mph. This is the day of technology, who knows what COR's are created by designers at taylor made and ping for pros who swing at high swing speeds, when a driver creates a .83 at 90 mph. for all we know "long drivers" could have CORs that are way higher than we normal players get with the same driver. there are no figures available showing the COR for professional golfers who swing at over 115mph. Players who drive the ball over 300 yards don't need CORs over .83 . Test drivers at all swing speeds. 80, 90, 100, 110, to 150.
  10. This is the natural consequence of gamesmanship. For instance: What would you do if you were SP and the putt was never conceded? Morally was this any different than Annika's chip a few Solheims back?
  11. Some things I remember. European soccer fans are the world's worst. They have major battles. Some high schools have banned fans from football and basketball games. NFL teams have paid out large sums of money for damages to spectators who have been severely beaten at their games. I have friends who won't take their children and grandchildren to Steeler football games. Have you noticed the number of undercover armed security at golf tournaments. I've seen them on tv guarding tiger and Annika. Paige MacKenzie had trouble with stalkers at tournaments. Federer had a fan charge onto the court for a selfie. One of the Lady tennis players was stabbed on the court in a tournament. Would fans want to take their families into war like zones?
  12. When I was a beginner, I took 5+ hours to play a round of 18 by myself. And I rushed and didn't waste time. When I asked some of the single digit handicap golfers how I could speed up my play. One asked me if I would like to play 18 with him tomorrow. I said yes, and when we met up the next day he handed me a bag of balls and said to play them. He also said when ever I hit a ball in the rough to drop a ball in the fairway and play on. Don't look for the lost ball. Reasons: 1. the course I played had High rough. I did and we finished 18 holes in 3 hours and 45 minutes. 2. The course had a lot of difficult bunkers. The good player told me to limit my strokes in the bunker to one. And to toss the ball onto the edge of the green. 3. The greens had a lot of elevation and contour. I was told to try to keep getting closer to the hole with each putt, and to putt out. And to limit my putts to three. 4. To limit my strokes on each hole to eight. He also shared that I was playing the men's T and I wasn't long enough to reach the greens in regulation. And to move up a T until I was good enough to reach the green in regulation. He also shared that I should avoid playing with other beginners. He felt that I should play with one better player or by myself until I could keep the ball in play.
  13. There will not be a Women's Masters at Augusta. Reasons 1. The LPGA will not be able to guarantee the same cash profit for the club. 2. The LPGA will not allow the world to see a full comparison of the LPGA women's game is that of the PGA players. 3. I remember when most LPGA players and officials objected to amateur Michelle almost qualifying to play in the Masters. 4. What do you think would happen if the Masters gave an invitation to the top LPGA player to play along side the Men from the same T in the Masters? PS: It is only a matter of time till some woman shows up that can play shoulder to shoulder with the PGA. Will she play on the PGA or the LPGA?
  14. Royal Poinciana Invitational From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation , search The Royal Poinciana Invitational was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour in 1961 and 1962. [1] It was played at Palm Beach Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida . The course was a par-3 course. In 1961, the field consisted of 24 men and women, both amateurs and professionals. [2] [3] The tournament was 54 holes and won by Louise Suggs by one stroke over local pro Dub Pagan. [4] Sam Snead was third, two shots behind. In 1962, the field consisted of Sam Snead and 14 LPGA golfers and was played over 72 holes. [5] Snead won by five strokes over Mickey Wright , making him the only man to win an official LPGA Tour event. [6] What about all the PGA pros that Michelle Wie and Annika Sorenstam scored better than on the PGA tour. Are those men not good enough to play on the PGA?
  15. Then why do we have these discussions?
  16. Why don't the best LPGA women Qualify for the US Open and play with the men? Would the #1 LPGA player accept an invitation to the Masters?
  17. The top women golfers play money games at their home courses with PGA players. I have never heard the details of strokes given or not and same or different T's in their matches. If the ladies are playing from the same T and gross, why not say so?
  18. Big difference. Thanks Vinsk for clarifying that. But I hope my point about course setup getting harder isn't lost?
  19. Butch violated Tiger's trust. Butch was a name dropper who liked to gossip with the media about what Tiger told him in confidence.
  20. After hearing people talk about their experiences in how much harder championship courses and their setup is compared to local setups and courses. A scratch at the local muni would probably have a bunch of mid 70's and a few low 80's listed in their scores. How would this player fare in Florida, Pennsylvania, Mid Amateur State championship? I would guess their probably score jump up to be around 80 to 85. How would this player fare in the national Mid Amateur championship? I would guess their probable score to be 85 to 95. How would this player fare in the Final Qualification of the US Open? I would guess their probable scores to be 85 to 100. One year I think Tiger said the average scratch player would not score under 100 on the US Open setup. Big ben a great professional quarterback and really good golfer shot under 100. And this scratch muni player is really good when we see him at our local course. But we have to realize that pros playing on the tours aren't good, they are great beyond anything I can comprend.
  21. The long courses don't really challenge the real long hitters like Bubba, John, etc. the pros don't have to hit 100% full out shots to reach par 4's and par 5's. The pros have reachable par 4's and 5's. Bubba can hit the driver 350 yards. He can hit a 3 Wood almost as far - 325 yards He can hit a 6 iron 225 yards. 350 plus 325 plus 225 equals 900 yards. The PGA has no par fives playing 900 yards. Most seniors and women have to play par fives with maximum force shots. I don't know of any courses that have reachable par 4's and 5's from senior and women's t's. I know a lot of courses that have par 3's that require women and seniors to use driver and still not reach the green. There are more women and seniors looking to play local courses than PGA pros. If I was building a course to make money, I would focus on making women and seniors my target customers.
  22. Until the USGA starts to measure clubs COR at all swing speeds - 90, 100, 110, 120 mph and publicizes them. It is mechanically possible for pro speeds to have a higher COR. Just because at 90 mph a club has a COR that is under the limit. That same club could for some one who swings 120 mph have a COR way over the max limit and be legal. Bubba and John don't need a boost. people who hit under 200 yards could use the boost.
  23. Could you picture Stacy Lewis or Suzanne Pettersen with their fiancée inside the ropes?
