  1. This has become quite a spirited thread. IMO, one should not have a swing thought that involves any manipulation of the clubface to square up at impact. With a connected swing and proper grip, the rotation of your body through shot squares the clubface. It is the big muscles that the pros rely on. Something like squaring up with your hands/wrists will never hold up under pressure. Sure there is a sensation that my right hand has crossed over the left, but this is AFTER impact and the result of a proper grip and body rotation.
  2. Since you are staying at Disney I recommend Orange County National. It is a short drive from Disney and is an awesome complex. Two championship courses, one short course, and has to be the largest practice facility in the world. The staff treats you very well. I am an Orlando resident and there is plenty of good golf around, but most of my rounds are at Orange County National. Shingle Creek is also another great course in Orlando, but more pricey than Orange County Nat. I hear that the courses on Disney's grounds are good as well, but expensive of course.
  3. tree huggers.......
  4. Nope, don't play. The lottery is a tax on the poor and others who pay little or no taxes. I am all for them pissing their money away on 10,000,000:1 odds.
  5. R9......very solid fairway wood
  6. Look into Mike Bender's academies as well. He has one in Lake Mary and a new one in Orlando. The new one in Orlando is probably what you are looking for, academy members live onsite.
  7. I am sure the birth of your daughter will be more important than a trophy engraved with names of crappy golfers that no one knows.
  8. I think they require documented tournament experience prior to accepting your application to Q-school. At least what I read in "Paper Tiger"..........
  9. Little surprised to hear Pros not interacting with the amateurs. Isn't that a huge part of the pro-am. That being said, I am completely surprised by it after seeing the attitudes of some on tour while following groups around at Bay Hill this year. Some of the lesser known players acted like complete pricks to their caddies. One I remember, Scott Piercy, tossed his club down at the caddy's feet twice on the same hole after 2 bad shots. We've all seen clubs tossed in disgust, but this was obvious childish behavior. Couldn't be happier when I saw ole Scott tugged one in the water on his tee shot on 4. Karma........
  10. I would say go ahead and get what you want. You have the itch, it won't go away. I do the same thing. I have my eye on the new Titleist CBs coming out. Beautiful club, but know they are beyond my current ability to hit them consistently.
  11. I do. By far the best fairway wood that I have used. Feels very solid. Forgot to mention, I like the 3W so much that I am now in the market for a 5W.......
  12. I agree 100% with this post. "Players" irons will always be there and I wouldn't rush in to buy something over your head. I've heard the 57's and 58's are forgiving enough for a 12 Hcp or so..... However a friend of mine, a legit single digit Hcp, got rid of 57's because they would punish him severely on distance with mishits. You should be looking at the AP1's.......
  13. 100% agreement here. This country is so great because everyone has the opportunity to make their own way. However, statistically speaking, people rarely achieve what they are truly capable of. I really hate when I hear someone bashing a CEO with a private yacht, etc. Almost as though it is criminal for someone to have worked hard and become wealthy. It is much more of a crime to be a parasite and live off government handouts for survival............
  14. Disgusting........ No incentive to better yourself when big government is writing out checks. The world is full of idiots.....
  15. 100% agree there........There is a LOT of bad golf out there
  16. I wouldn't put MacGregor's in play even if Golfsmith was giving them away.......

    Home Practice

You bet. This is where ALL of my practice now occurs after the birth of my son. It is important to get a decent mat to avoid inury. For putting I recommend the "Boomerang", $30-$40 on ebay. I've had one for about a year and love it....
  18. Here we have a perfect example of someone throwing driving distances.........."I shoot over 100, but I drive 250-280 usually in the fairway or first cut, blah blah blah.....". The next time you are in Orlando shoot me a PM. I'll give you 10 tee shots and I will guarantee you will not put 1 in the fairway at 250-280. I bet you hit 16/18 GIRs too........
  19. Other than the mat and net I would say the other items are a waste of money and provide absolutely no benefit. - Tru-break: I have never used this, but I can guess it will not roll anything like a break on a real green. I think you are better off with something like the "boomerang" putting mat. I have one and it works great. I think I paid $30-$40... - Teego: Really??? Just use your club and rake another ball in.....FREE - Chipping net: Just chip to a stick or some other object in the yard......FREE
  20. I have the R9 460 and very happy with it. I previously had the 09' Burner, but it was just far too light for me. The R9 just feels more solid and the weighting is much better for me. Also, the R9 fairways are awesome. I have the 3-wood and it is by far the best fairway I have ever hit.........
  21. Thats an awesome demo policy that they have. You can take the clubs out for a demo once you pay full price for them.... Sounds like you bought them. All joking aside, the 57's are nice sticks. I've had my eye on them for some time now.......good choice
  22. Buy a package of lessons with the $150.
  23. Yes, I agree that his iron play could be good, but other points of the game might be lacking. However, at an 18 I would guarantee that there is some poor iron play happening. Just like in my rounds as a 10..... Hitting your woods off the deck has a minimal effect on your handicap. How often do you hit a FW wood off the deck during a round? 3 maybe 4 times.
  24. Divots good.... The kind you describe, bad. Your divots should not be that deep. Sounds like you are getting really steep at impact. Try to shallow out your angle of attack......
  25. Just because they are in his bag doesn't mean he can hit them....... I was paired with a guy on Saturday who was gaming MP-32's. I don't think he hit a ball solid all day..........
