  1. Nothing wrong with high loft. Not sure my swing speed, but I poke my Dymo2 Str8-fit HL (13*) anywhere from 240 to 265, with no ballooning.
  2. Golf epoxy breaks down at around 250º.
  3. With Golf Pride's large PGA Tour presence, and "knock-off" rights to make the same grip as the Sharpro.. you now have your formula for why GP grips cost 2-3 times as much as other grips, that perform just as good. Why pay more.. unless you are brand •••••
  4. Rest assure you'll never see Stricker have any issues with a flip.
  5. The playoffs are about one thing and one thing only: $$$$
  6. Reached my goal this year. I've broke 90 twice (shot 86 both times). The key has been working on the short game, somewhat, at the range.. instead of pounding driver and irons. On both 86 rounds, my putts per hole were 1.78 and 1.72
  7. Yep! Its a given.. especially since 99% of all clubheads come from the few foundries that put out the stuff, in the first place. Even some of the good clones come out of the same foundries that the big name OEM's come out of! Brand •••••s really get their panties in a bunch when you throw the real facts at them.
  8. Hireko isn't truely "all component". Their Acer line is a clone, that is inspired by Callaway's line.. They are a high quality component/clone though. Integra is in the same boat... they put out their own designs.. but they also throw out some clones as well.. http://www.integra-golf.net/content/view/350/467/

  10. I had them last year. They are very hot off the face.. and very forgiving. I didn't care too much for the really wide soles though.. The long blade length of the irons in that set make them really forgiving.. you will not be able to tell at all on any toe hits.. unless you are out toward the extreme end of the toe.. The 20* and 23* hybrid heads in that set are hot faced, just as the irons.. They put off a "tink" sound when struck.. If you have a solid swing.... be prepared for over 200 yards off of the 20* hybrid. They are a really nice playing/looking set, if you can get past the wide soles..
  11. Rules of Golf only states you can use up to 14 clubs, total. I don't believe it states in there anything about "having" to have a #1 wood or "Driver" or whatever you want to call it. Scorecard doesn't have a requirement also to have to use a "Driver".
  12. because its high priced at Dicks, and the other big stores to begin with
  13. Not sure if they are still on sale, but my local Dick's Sporting Goods had the Callaway HX Tour's going for $29... if you are going to spend $30.. might as we play the better ball.. over the Hot Bite's..
  14. There really isn't an industry standard in the golf world. What happened, as manufacturers fight over the claims to have the longest driver out, lengths have gotten longer. Also, when the shift from steel shafted woods went to graphite; you have to build it longer than steel, to get the driver in the "D" swingweight range.
  15. "single length irons" all have the same headweight. If you try to get your 3,4 and 5 to the same length (as lets say.. a 5 iron).. but do not add any tip weighting/head weighting, you will end up with a 3 and 4 iron that are way too stiff. Basically.. in the "single length" or "1 Iron" sets, all the shafts are tipped to a 7 iron, since all heads weight the same as a "standard" 7 iron head. Lie angles are the same as well. You would have to hope your heads also all bend to that same lie angle.
  16. Grip, setup / alignment are the crucial fundamentals to a sound golf swing. Those often get overlooked by beginners.. and as well, mid handicappers..and mid-high cappers such as myself. I'm just now getting to the point where I'm hitting close to 50% of my fairways with my driver. Pay attention to your grip. I'm willing to wager its setup as a "weak" grip. How many knuckles can you see on your right hand, when you look down at your grip at setup? Ball position is also key. The driver should hit the ball just as the driver is making its way upward on the ball. If you hit with any sort of a descending blow with the driver, bad things will happen. For the driver, the ball should generally be in the area inside of your leading foot/heel. If its back further, the clubhead at that impact point will be open.. Longer clubs = ball position further up in stance.. shorter clubs = ball position back toward the middle of stance. Get a lesson, if you can. Pick up "Ben Hogan's - Five Lessons". Now, don't get me wrong.. nobody will be able to copy Ben Hogan's swing.. but there is alot of good stuff in his book.
  17. Straight from the Callaway web site: "Returns may not be permitted or may be subject to special conditions. Where returns are permitted, if you return the products subject to the Qualifying Purchase(s), you must purchase from the Authorized Retailer other new Callaway Golf products of equal or greater retail value to the products that are the subject of the Qualifying Purchase(s), or pay the full retail price of the fairway woods that were provided in connection with the Qualifying Purchase(s). All returns must be in original new condition."
  18. Maxfli's are not clones; Hogans are far from clones. Hogan irons were a premier club on tour until Callaway got their hands on Top-Flite and Hogan (primarily for their golf ball patents) Maxfli's are an exclusive brand that is owned by Dick's Sporting Goods now.
  19. If you hit woods better than hybrids, then go for the 5 wood
  20. 1) Break 90 2) Hit more GIR (if I do this, then #1 above should take place)
  21. Clones can also be related to as "inspired by" designs. They are perfectly ok. Actually many of the "clone" companies will consult directly with the big name OEM's to make sure they are not pushing their limits on their designs. They will then get the "ok" that they are not releasing a product that could potentially infringe on their copyrights. The good clone companies do not hide the fact that they are clones. They will advertise their products as "ABC Iron - Similiar to the Nike SQ Sumo".. etc.. etc.. Knockoffs do not.. knockoffs blatently mislead the consumer into thinking they are getting the real deal at a steal of a price. Here is another kicker that should get the OP of this thread all wound up: Some of the clone heads are manufactured in the SAME foundries as the big name OEMs. Also, graphite shafts from different makes, brands and models could possibly come from one manufacturer. Just an example.. lets assume I'm a clone company and I want a graphite shaft to sell from my inventory. I might get some sort of contract with Graffaloy, and purchase "bare" Pro Launch Blue's.. remember.. I'll get these without paint schemes.. etc.. just plain graphite shaft.. thats how they all start originally.. Put my own paint scheme on it.. etc.. sell it for $19.99.... The reality is.. its a PL Blue.. underneath..
  22. Nike Sumo2 5900 is your driver. If you even come close to having a square clubface at impact, you will find the fairway.
  23. Shot a 97 on Friday, at Carroll Valley. First round I kept score for this season. Hit 7/12 fairways and no greens ugh :) First time playing this course and have never played a course where there are six Par 3's. Four of them are over 184 yards from the whites. http://www.carrollvalley.com/newpage...=306&page;=7221
  24. I went for the deal also. This was even after I had put together a component driver and hybrid, that I thought was going to stay in the bag :) We all know how that goes! Opted for the 11.5*, regular flex, stock Diamana shaft. A shock though was the stock shaft feels like a decent shaft. Picked up the 19* five wood to go with it for the $199 deal. Wife is getting me the three wood this week :)
