i'd like to see poulter have a good run

I had the uPro for 2 seasons and wasn't that impressed. I have the $40 smartphone app, Golf Logix now and I LOVE IT. It tracks ALL your stats, TRACKS YOUR SHOT DISTANCES AND CLUB SELECTION(very important in my mind) and gives pretty accurate numbers. In my opinion, it works better than a $400 unit, tracks more stats and your yardages for $40 per year. Can't beat it. The Laser will track anything you can see ... so if you can see the bunker or water, then you can laser find it ... laser doesn't work for doglegs or hidden greens. Edit* One downside I've found with the GPS being on your phone is that you now have incoming calls and texts that you'll see ... normally when I golf, I put the phone away so I'm not bothered.

hehe .. that's silly. if you don't use covers on your forged irons and you ride in carts, your clubs will get beat up and look much older than the really are, real fast. my clubs, after 1 season or 5, still look brand new, minus a few scratches from the harder dirt, sticks or whatever else I may be swinging on.
-
just make SURE you use iron covers ... especially if you ride carts. all that bangin' around on bumps will bang up your clubs. if you clean your clubs after every round and keep covers on them, they'll last a long time.... also store them indoors, especially during winter if you're in a cold area.

Best looking irons? Have your say.

I have a new fav. ... the Nike VR Blade .. mmmm. -
I'm always trying to improve my game ... my equipment has been a huge part of my quick skill improvement over the past 4 years. Confidence is key .. I'm pretty sure I've found a driver, 3 wood and hybrids that I'm going to stick with for some time ... however my iron shots are not 100% where I want it to be. I had my zuno's custom made this year and although I love them and most likely will never part with them, I am not completely satisfied with my game. So after thinking today .. I've decided I'm going to continue my search for different irons... maybe I find something I hit better, maybe I don't and I continue my practice to be perfect. So for you guys that have played Mizuno MP irons for more than 1 round ... 1.) Have you played any other similar irons that are compatible that you hit better or worse? 2.) Have you switched to or from these irons and what are your experiences? Please know that I understand completely that everyone is different with equipment and that I should "hit what I'm most comfortable with" ... I tell that to tons of guys on this forum .. so spare the comment :) I guess I'm just looking for the few guys that may have played these before or after a different set and what their experiences were. Some other iron configurations I'm looking at: Nike VR Blade PW-8 & Nike Forged Split Cavity 7-5 Cobra S2 Forged 7-5 & Pro MB Blade PW-8 Titleist AP2 & Possible MB Blades

hahaha ... thanks. i needed that today. -
AP1's are a nice club too .. it all depends what you hit better and feel most comfortable with.

Played 18 at Greenfield Public in Milwaukee today and shot a 66 with ball 1 and a 74 with ball 2. I play two or three balls when I play by myself depending on who's in front of me and if I have anyone behind me.

Brookfield, WI (Milwaukee Area) has a great staff. There are a couple guys that I really enjoy working with and Mark the PGA pro is also decent. There are a couple guys there I don't like as well but overall good experience.

I think they look great but i've also heard from people that have them that they aren't happy campers.

Golf Shoes - Adidas Tour 360 3.0
Jon K replied to Ash1974's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I've got these and love them ... I want to try a nice footjoy model so that'll be my next purchase ... if those dont go well then i'll stick with adidas ... very happy with the 360's -
a ball retriever.
-
not only is it common ... in my opinion, it should be the only way you build your set ... why buy a full set of irons if you can't hit them all perfectly? again, imo, you should put your bag together club by club.

Mixing Hybrid Brand into Iron Set?
Jon K replied to KenStone's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
most definitely do NOT match any clubs to your set just to match brands ... go to GG and hit every different hybrid in the store and see what you feel most comfortable with and what you hit the best ... get down to 2 or 3 that you like ... come back another day or two and hit them again(you may hit differently another day). i went back to GG over several weeks to pick out my driver, woods and hybrids ... to be honest, i did "want" to stick with all the same name brand woods/hybrids but i was more interested in better ability to hit the ball. it just so happens that it worked out where my driver, woods and hybrids were all the same name. pick what you hit best ... don't worry about the name. no one cares what you have in your bag ... it's not a fashion show ... so use something you're best with and lower that score. another note .. if you want to stick with the same brand ... you're able to change shafts to make a club hit differently .. this of course, costs more to do something like this. if you're interested in going a route like that, head over to golftec and have them do a shaft optimization .. they'll tell you what shafts you should be using. this costs around 130 depending in the area you're in -
i got my mp58's off the mizuno fitting system. i as well, don't hit the project shafts right ... they just don't feel "right" when hitting the ball.

How often do you change your grips?
Jon K replied to mrprovisional's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
every season. -
for you .. i would suggest this .. put your set together club by club. start with your PW, 9, 8 and 7 ... get something like the 57 or more of a players club. when i started playing golf again, i went with a full set of super game improvement irons ... these helped me a TON ... however after one season, my skill out grew them and i bought a new set of irons between super game improvement and player club. the year after that, i went with full players irons ... so yes, three seasons, three sets of irons ... spending $2000+ just on irons. don't make the same mistake i did because reselling used clubs is useless .. you get nothing for them so you're stuck with multiple sets of clubs like me .. .i have three bags right now. with that being said ... if you think you're going to really work on your golf game and think you'll improve quite a bit in a season ... dont waste your money on a full set of game improvement irons ... you'll just out grow them. this is why i suggest using a game improvement iron for your 3, 4, 5, and maybe 6 .. or just up to 5 .. then get a players iron for your 7, 8, 9 and PW ... because those irons are a lot easier to hit and you'll want more control with those. ... of course i will always suggest using hybrids instead of long irons like 3, 4 and 5... suggest using iron for 5 if you're a good striker and want more control ... if you're not ... use a 5 hybrid .. you'll be must happier with the results.
-
I don't know anything about the bridgestones. I play bridgestone balls. i LOVE the mp58's ... basically the new model of the 57's however you have to be a really consistent ball striker to have fun with them and on another note ... the long irons of the 57's/58's are really hard to hit ... this is why i bought my set club by club. no reason to waste money on the long irons that i wouldnt use. i replaced the long irons with hybrids that i can crush and hit dead straight ... this gave me a kill zone all the way through my entire set.
-
bottom line .. you can't go wrong with a mizuno iron. one of the best makers on the market for irons in my opinion if you're looking for a custom set ... also consider putting your iron set together club by club. maybe use more of a players iron with more shaping ability and control with your shorter clubs like PW-8 or 7 and then more of a game improvement club for your longer clubs like 6 or 7 up to your hybrids. this should make a huge improvement on your game .. it did on mine.

Cleveland CG15 or Mizuno MT-10......
Jon K replied to ScfdRookie's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I haven't tried the latter however I'm a huge fan of the mizuno wedges. Great feel and consistency. My wedge game improved quite a bit already just from switching to those wedges. It may be a confidence thing ... or the custom length .. either way, i love em. You can't go wrong with a Mizuno iron or wedge ... great product and i consider them one of the best vs the vokeys If you're spending full retail on the wedges, go get fit for them at GG or something. I had my wedges a half inch longer than stock and it's made a big difference in my comfort level which equals confidence which equals much more consistent shots on the green -

I've got to agree. iPad = way too big .. although I am a techie and LOVE the idea of having a larger screen for stuff like that. Can't really beat a smart phone to keep track of score and gps.
