I am old enough to have seen both and have no hesitation is saying Tiger is the best ever. This past US Open put him over the top in my mind. Tiger is a monster and no one can compare to him.
-
Yep, congrats to Tiger! Move over Jack there is a freight train coming through. After this monumental win, Tiger in my mind is the best to ever tee it up! Best US Open I have ever seen!

When getting fit, the best thing is to go in with a very open mind. Try some different clubs, then start with different shafts. Let the launch monitor stats help direct you to the club that best fits your swing. Enjoy the process if is fun and quite educational.

The best thing would be to get properly fit on a launch monitor. This can tell you the ball speed, spin rate and launch angle of the clubs. Shaft stiffness, kick point, swing speed, head loft and design all play a role in the ball flight. Get fit and let the scientific numbers lead you to longer more consistant drives.

I am speachless........

This question is an easy one......Ecco. The most comfortable golf shoe you can purchase. Their dress shoes are also excellent and last forever. You get what you pay for. if you are looking for inexpensive, you may want to look at the Footjoy E-comfort series of shoes. They are definitely comfortable, but not like Ecco.

For what it is worth....I really like the B330. Great ball. A few dollars cheaper that the Titleist, but I find them to be quite a bit more durable. A full wedge will still rough them up a little but not like the ProV1.

1) EXCELLENT point on Sergio's comment about Tiger. This is exactly what I was thinking when I heard this. 2) I wouldnt worry about Tiger being "too old" for Anthony Kim. Better to just worry about Kim being in the field in 5-10 years. Nothing is a guarantee. He is off to a good start, but lets see what happens.

Absolutely! I like seeing the best of the best. Tiger is by far ahead of any player in this generation and arguably the best of all time. I didnt stop watching golf because of his latest injury, but am definitely lookinf forward to his return.

I typically buy all my stuff from the local golf store. Yes it is more expensive, however I know that I am not getting any clone or being scammed. I also get to hit every club on a launch monitor to test the feel, launch, spin etc... When investing this much money in equipment, I prefer to do it only once. (buying 2 sets on ebay to find "the one" is more expensive than getting fit and paying more 1 time.)

I wear my Maui Jim's whenever golfing in sunny weather. As an optometrist, I cannot urge you guys/girls enough to wear proper UV eye protection. Proper UV light protection can greatly decrease your chance of developing Macular Degeneration later in life.

255-260 with a few additional yards of roll. I am pretty much 260-265 total distance for my driver.

I am waiting on my new custom Mizuno MX-25's I was just fit yesterday. I went with these irons, because of the shot dispersion, feel, consistency and the confidence I get from the look. These with Project X 5.5 shafts were perfect for my swing. Now the LONG process of waiting for the call from the pro-shop.......

Swingweight on Taylormade Burner NON TP version
eyedoc replied to jathames's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
1) See Bubba Watson. Exceptionally long hitter that uses a Graffalloy Shaft 2) They tend to have a slightly lower trajectory, (Prolaunch Red). This may be why you didnt like the shaft. Please do some research prior to posting false information. Better for the community. -
I completely agree. I have both the addidas Tour 360's and the Dry Joys. I love both, but the comfort is better with the Dry Joy.

Swingweight on Taylormade Burner NON TP version
eyedoc replied to jathames's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thats funny. You have 2 threads, where you bash the Graffalloy Shafts. A much more educated statement would be to state why you think Graffalloy shafts are garbage for you. They work for MANY people, and quite well at that. I just got fitted yesterday for the Tour Burner and the Graffalloy Red stiff was by far longer with much less left/right dispersion than any other shaft I tried. Different strokes for different folks. -
Just got custom fitted for irons this afternoon. Was a difficult decision, however I ended up with the Mizuno MX-25, with Project X 5.5 shafts. Cant wait for them to come in! These irons with the forged heads are so sweet. Spent some time with the MP-57's but they were just a little too much club for me.

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
eyedoc replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Was an expensive trip to the store today: A set of Mizuno MX-25 irons A Taylormade Tour Burner 9.5 Stiff Prolaunch Red Taylormade Tour Burner TP 3 wood and 5 wood Had a complete fitting today, and it was excellent. Now time to wait for all of them to come in...... -
When I buy another driver, I am definiely concerned about the loft. However, I would not buy one until I hit some balls on the launch monitor. You need to take into account the shaft, launch angle, ball speed and spin rate to determine what is best. May be 9.5 on one but 12 on another.
-
My best recommendation is to go and get fit by a professional fitter. Have them put you on a launch monitor and measure. It is much cheaper to pay the money to get fit, than to buy multiple sets of irons until you find the "one" Saves money in the long run.

Where should the calluses on your hands be?
eyedoc replied to DavidFehertysBike's topic in Golf Talk
According to Harvey Penick's Little Red Book we should not have callouses on our hands from golf. Means we are gripping the club too hard. However, I have a small on at the base of one of my fingers, from golf. -
Most comfortable walking shoes.....
eyedoc replied to Dub's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
A couple of pairs come to mind....my Footjoy Dryjoys are very comfortable. Also look at the Ecco line of shoes, I think they are a touch more comfortable than the Footjoy shoes. This is coming from someone who walks just about every round possible. -
I come right in about 265-270. Once in a while I will smoke one a give it a ride....

Yep another cigar smoker here. I seem to gravitate towards anything Padron (especially the 1926) or most Rocky Patel cigars. As for smoking on the course. I generally do not, because I like to sit down and have a nice single malt scotch and enjoy the cigar. When on the course, I am there to golf. But boy do I ever, love a good cigar!
