  2. well in an interview he mentioned he cries. So I forgave him and became a fan. I have a hard time dealing with sports and emotional discharge. But he admitted it and that made me feel better about him. i'd probably cry too if I had that payday...Go Bubba!
  3. I took up golf at like 30. leagues have been favorable or non-favorable to me, depending on course, etc. most of the course do offer an alternate's slot if you can be available in an hours time. I remember in the 90's, around here, you had to be in an association, lodge, union, etc to get on a league board...and league play was 5 nights a week on my local course. Today, they are one night, need alternates, and play sixsomes on 9 holes...not my bag "O" fun. Granted given the time in the summer I could see starting a league for all, and just have fun.
  4. Good stuff here...and to comment on the shaft flexology stuff from my post yesterday a good point was made, My MB's have NS 950gh-S shafts and my Vokeys have the KBS wedge-S shafts, so I can relate to why I hit my 52 as far as my 47-PW. I got the NS 950's on my MB's because I liked the way they hit on my cleveland 588 wedges?...crap...I got the wrong wedges in the wrong bag...f***...born blond...to die bald...Ciest la vie....
  5. Funny, I was thinking that today. I have started hitting my Vokey 52 SM4 as far as my 714mb PW, which is 47 degrees. (110-120 yds) My wish however is that I can take the PW out of my bag and install a third (draw) driver. I don't want a 48 degree vokey that I clock out further than my 9-iron, but I like the play of the Vokeys... so I'll ditch the PW
  6. Oh dang it!...just traded my SLDR for 2 burner 2.0 superfasts, an HL , a Tour Issue and a scotty cameron putter. If I knew the SLDR would come in white...well I'll never know....
  7. Thought I had it all...2003 Lincoln Town Car. Last of the V8 frame over road cruisers!!! Huge trunk! Woo Hooo!..but only holds maybe 4 stand bags worth of clubs. I have had to leave it at..." I can haul three"..in luxury" it has a cassette player"...bring your Molly Hatchet tape...
  8. a Wilson M3 putter...$40. I run two bags, in either trunk of either car. I got stuck the other day with an Odyssey 2-ball putter. The Odyssey putts fantastic, but cannot pick up the ball like my Scotty. Of course I tried out the Majors...Ping, Odyssey, TM, Yes, etc.. and sank most the putts with them from 15ft on a dead flat surface . I rimmed the 6 putts with the Wilson, like clockwork. It has a decent grip and picks the ball up just like scotty..ciest la vie.
  9. Keep it up you will get there! I played golf from 1993 to 1997 like a religion and gave up after never breaking 100. Well I'd play here and there after that. Then I got to play a really nice course, like a PGA course. It was groomed and I could have putted my way to a 100. That is how nice the fairways were. I did exceptionally well and was hooked again by 2008. I played 45 rounds in 2008 and averaged 111 and never broke 100.. Got some lessons and a divorce in 2009...score goes down score goes up, but i broke 100 with a 99 on memorial day 2009. When I started to shoot in the 80's back in 2010-2011 I only golfed 6-7 times a year and it seemed like a chore, I accepted bogey golf, which made me bored with the game overall. So I had to re-invent myself to be better than bogey and keep on hitting the sticks...Golf to me is a work in progress. Last year I shot a 112 on a new course I had not ever played. I redeemed myself by shooting 100 on it a month later, walking, in the rain. I feel a score in the 80's for that course this year....You can do it...just remember I was "Mr. 111" for 2 years at my local course....
  10. Well my SLDR 430 tp 10.5 is a work in progress. I did the Aldila Beta rip'd 70 stiff, still on neutral setting, hits a nice draw, which I need but is 30 yds shorter than my Titleist 910D3 which hits a nice fade, hopefully I can tweek it mechanically and not have to get an X-stiff shaft. keep ya posted..
  11. Well I am Gonna have to bail, couldn't block sunday out of schedule to golf..or travel.
  12. Okay..is it on?..because I am windowing my weekend around this event ...April 6th Timbers at troy...just off I-95 Baltimore south. I have these peeps down there that make plans for me when I visit, so I need to block golfing off to the minute...Let me know ASAP if it is ago or not...John
  13. 47/47 for 94..best march score ever...70/119 slope. nothing to write home about..except... bouncing a 119yd, sky high, wedge shot out of the cup, it went down the flag stick and bounced out of the cup probably 10 feet in the air and landed on the fringe. I have played this course probably 100 times and never saw anything like that. Even the Geese (my gallery) thought it was amazing honk, honk they jeered..closest to a hole in 3 on a par 4 for me..I chipped, and putt, putted the hole for a DB. I also passed a whole crew of Gollums fishing "precious" golf balls out of the castle moat. I already got the pro v1's & others out of the moat last week. ..at least they let me play around them while they were foraging for their Easter eggs...Hurrah for spring.
  14. i plan on being in the area that weekend, visiting relatives...
  15. found this for those interested....http://www.timbersgolf.com Well I am looking forward to it...John
  16. yesterday could only play 9 but shot a 44 par 37/3209 yds but 70-119 slope rating. They converted a par 4's into one of those par 4/5 the tee boxes are only 10 yds apart. Avg drive 171(using Wilson smart-core cheapo balls), straight but way short, 3gir, 5/7 fairways. the course was littered with balls from years past? with the vegetation gone/dead found a couple Hi-end Pro v's etc. I am 11 strokes better on first three 9 hole rounds of the season compared to last year, at this rate I should be shooting high 70's in may...
  17. I'd say...Let us golf ! I am good with that date and locale...I'm ready for crabcakes and Golf! ..Ahmen winter made me her slave and I may have another player to pick up on the way. I should ask first but I am In...TST into Elkridge! Let us rock! ..and for the putts just let it roll...
  18. for a windy , cold, frozen fairway, golf tees only going in less than an inch, par 3's sucked...etc. I do not think i did too bad for a melon head form Virginia, living in Ohio for 20 years...shot a 96 on 18 with all the glamour you would expect from shooting a whole new bag of irons and driver. shot a 96 50/46
  19. as a 50+ round a year single golfer, I run into many Log jams. If I catch a group ahead of me and there is no one ahead of them, I expect them to offer me to play though, If they don't... I ask them. If they say no then I tell them...politely... I am playing around them. Then I move on. Be wary though..while playing 18 once with a co-worker. ran into a log jam. after being told "no" by a drunk foursome (playing 9 ), we played around them on the front nine about the fourth hole. apparently that infuriated them to a point where they complained to management(verbal warning) and pissed in my cars gas tank(that is why you tip the cart return guy, thanks! security cameras)...I just topped off with premium after my car sputtered to the gas pump.
  20. Well got to golf today 9 holes walking, course and greens were soaked and the ground was still frozen. took ATP out and for a first time on the course, he was not too bad, except a killer 60 deg slice off the tee box, but he was hitting some good length with those. If he gets it dialed in I will be in trouble I'd say i shot in the high 50's. I was 2 or 3 over, and he'd be in the 80's, 4 or more over. I had never golfed this course but I knew it was flat. So I figured we were going to have to walk might as well make it easy. I called the owner and he said "put $10 in the mail slot, grab a pull-cart and go"..."There is some debris on the course and greens, but it is very playable" after about 5 holes ATP was starting to "think golf" just like we all do and that is great. He is a very smart guy and he'll figure it out before I ever did.
  21. Well my less than technical version of "Loft Up" goes like this...First few rounds of the year when my swing speed is low. I carry a Nike Dymo HL with an aldila nv65 stiff and a Lady machspeed HL w/ fubuki L flex both are at 14 deg. When things get crazy I Then typically go to my Titlesit 910 D2 with the 50 gr bassara stiff at 10.5 & the nike dymo, when the D2 gets silly, after a few rounds I go to my D3 w/motore f3 stiff. by the next few rounds(okay say round 20 for he year) I am up to my nike Dymo str8 fit w/voodoo 7 X-stiff & TM Burner 2.0 rombax x-stiff both 9.5 loft. as I go through my driver progression I tend to "Flex Up" and "loft down" to keep my drives where I like them. So as a tool to help I bought an SLDR 430 tp 10.5 w/ phenom Beta 70 stiff. I hit it the other day, and got the low boring, short flight I expected from it's factory setting and my post hibernation swing speed. So I shall "Loft Up"(with the SLDR) and probably eliminate 3 drivers from the progression and give my wife her driver back, and wait for he next great thing from TM.
  22. I shoot the PD's & crush/crush extreme to start my first 15 rounds ...then move to chromes, Bridgestone e7's & b330's, blacks and V1x's..So I'm really game to try 'em..
  23. Got the 24 year old step-son, ATP , to the driving range yesterday and we split a 100 ball bucket. gave him my guest set of clubs and I just let him go. after about 10 shots.. he became focused on hitting the 50 yd sign which he did fairly well...then he hit a few drives over 100, so I see some good out-of-the-box stuff happening for someone who has only played putt-putt and was on his third trip to a driving range. I'm thinking another driving range visit and then some lessons. are we supposed to update progress here, or is there another blog we are supposed to do updates on?
  24. Yes..it was a 45 yd give or take by the way...15%
  25. Okay, my fitter does not charge me for the fitting, but as I do he expects me to do the purchase from him ..which I do. and being the good fitter that he is ..he always states if there will be an up-charge for an item ie: grips, shafts, etc When you were young and your heart was an open book...you used to say "Live and let Live" Actually a very good question...hopefully answered "Wanda I can't find my bellybutton, could you help me?" Think of that next time you have a tee shot.
