  1. You don't think people back the pre gps had exact yardages. Caddies. Now everyone has access to that knowledge, and to disregard that is pretty stupid. Or you're trolling.
  2. I read through the replies and was surprised to see nobody yet mention the Nike One Tour's. I used to play Pro1x's and switched to the NXT tours to save some money. I liked them off the tee, but wanted more spin and feel from my irons and just gave the nike one tours a try, they were buy one get one at the golf place. Man I love them, feels great off the tee better than prov1's imo and good feel and decent spin with the short irons.
  3. The only advice I ever get on the course is yardage, which is quite helpful. I give yardages with my skycaddie to everyone and most are very appriciative. When it comes down to deciding on the shot thats up to the individual player. Never been in that sceniaro but it does feel nice pulling off a great shot regardless.
  4. I've always had a natural fade, and for me it comes from un winding my upper body before my lower body. If I get my keys right I can carry it 260, either dead straight or slight fade or draw. If you want to hit a little draw just point your club face to your target and align your feet to where you'd like to start the ball out. Experiment at the range. My key now, is to release my hips and have my hands follow my lower body and making sure I release my wrists making the V at impact and like was previously said before finish on your front foot. I also have a cool looking reverse C thing going on. Just what works for me, what goes through my head so I can hit a good drive.
  5. Usually too hard.. Tempo has been my key lately... Smooth swings usually have good results at least for me.
  6. Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus lifted their left heel. I do for the reason that it allows me to make a full turn, if it feels natural and you are correctly moving back onto your left side and finishing there shouldn't be a problem.
  7. I was just looking at tnt and their coverage starts at 4am pacific time. Which is exactly the time I'll be waking up tomorrow. The open championship iphone app will help me out a bunch though.
  8. Oh I'll be up alright. Sadly I'll be going to work.
  9. wait, your supposed to move your body. That should help a ton LMFAO
  10. personally I carry two, a 52* gap wedge and a 60* sand wedge. I can control my distance pretty well with my sand wedge and can hit it 100 yards if I have to. My gap wedge I can hit up to 120. I really like chipping and the different shots I can hit my with my sw, and being able to control the distance really eliminates the need for a 3rd wedge.
  11. My sumo2 5 wood is my favorite club to hit. High straight, I rip that club. I'll probably look into something like that for a new 3wood shortly.
  12. Shot +2 (74) on a short course yesterday. One birdie, 3 bogies. And a ton of one putts. Only played 9 today and shot even. One Birdie, one bogie but I played so much better today. Beautiful drives, 9/9 gir. I'm just on the cupse of breaking out into a under par round soon.
  13. I was a better driver at 17 than most period. Granted a lot had to do with my backround. What I don't understand is how we teach our kids. I am a private pilot, the training you go through to get that license is real. In drivers ed, they tell you (maybe once) how to correct a slide or what to do if you brakes fail, but never any real world experience. The first time I was learning how to recover from a stall, I freaked out. I know what to do, but I panicked. After help from the instructor and some real world training I figured it out. Simply telling kids to turn into a slide isn't good enough IMO. I understand a lot these accidents are cause by speed and/or alcohol. But normal kids have no real understanding how to handle an out of control vehicle. Until they get used to it, they never will.
  14. 200 even it really depends. I normally hit my 5 wood like 210, and my 3 iron is inconsistant but near 200. So no water to carry, and I'm swining good that day I'll pull a 3 iron. If I need to carry every bit of 200 you better believe I'm hitting 5 wood.
  15. Early last season on a short par 4, I have like 80 yards left a full lop wedge for me. I bladed it bad, it came out like a 3 iron. I thought for sure it'd be OB behind the green, but it caught a tree behind the green dead perfect, bounced back and hit the down slope of the backside of the green, bounces really high and lands about 15' away from the cup. My playing partner had a good laugh, and so did I.
  16. My wife is very understanding of me playing this game. I did get all new irons last year, so they'll last me a while. But she totally understands how much I play, and practice. She knows that whatever I'm doing, I always am trying to be the best I can at it. Which is good, makes life easier you know.
  17. that recent DUI might change that.
  18. For my driver, I will aim my body and club head where I want the ball to start and naturally will hit what I would describe as a power fade. 3-5 yards, it starts on the target line and "snaps" right off the bat about 3-5 yards and pretty much goes straight from there. I can also hit draws if I have to. My misses are straight shots, or blocks right. But I've been on pretty well lately.
  19. Exactly, I try to take everything one shot at a time. If I find myself focusing on the holes ahead, I try to turn my focus back on whatever my next shot is gonna be. I played my local course, which is fairly easy. +3 the front side, but on the back just keeping my focus I managed 1 birdie no bogies. I don't think it's a good idea to think to far ahead.

    Eagles?

Made 1 eagle when I was like 19. I'm 25 now, but I was out of golf for like 3 years until last year. One of my last rounds last year, I hit a sweet drive slight draw into a 15 yard wide fairway. Had 215 to green, with a pond guarding the whole thing had to carry that. Hit a laser beam of a 5 wood right at the flag was probably about 3-5 feet away. As I'm walking up, it's about dark and the greens keeper comes out. He moves the cup from the spot it was, to the other side of the green turning my 3-5 footer into a double breaking 50-70 foot putt. I was yelling at him telling him to wait, but he didn't pay attention to me and the guys in the club house were laughing about it. Thats my last real good shot at eagle, but this year is young. :)
  21. Only 1 in a row until last Thursday. Boogied the first 3, to birdie the next 3. Ended up even through 9.
  22. I just wish they'd use both more. But I do love those features, especially pro tracker.
  23. Got in 18 today, thanks to some vacation time. Played really good, even though I left a lot on the course. Finished the front side with 4 boogies 1 birdie. Finished the back nine with one birdie, even though I edged out at least 3 birdie putts, If I would have putted better I would have scored awesome. I feel like I have taken my game to the next level, I feel I can be at par or below everytime out. I'm still making simple mistakes, but if I keep puting in the time, I should have a great year. So I finished +2 (72), easily could have been even or 1 under. I'm still looking for my first par 18, and finally went under par over 9 today.
  24. I look at the inside back of the ball. But really during my swing, at least from my top swing down, I really don't see the ball. My head is turning through my downswing. I think I'm to the point now, that I could swing with my eyes closed and still make good contact.
  25. Went out and played 9 after leaving work early. It was about 55 when I started playing very nice. I drove the ball the best I ever have in my life, I was playing a power cut, like 10 yards. On number 6 a 277 yard par 4, I was about 10 yards short of the green and the ball plugged. I wish the rest of my game would have been as on. Ended up 2 over, 36. I'm really looking forward to this summer.
