Glad to see the Oilers bounce back from a putrid game one. The team is doing an online 50/50 draw during the post season. Game one the total pot was nearly 750K. I bought $40 worth of tickets this morning, and have watched the pot grow from 100K to over 3.1 million. Half of that would be awesome. Hell, I'd settle for 5 or 10 percent!

I'm just glad hockey is back, to be honest. As for the draft, well, it's been messed up for a while now. One more year of clusterf***ery won't ruin it for me.

Playoffs begin on Saturday, in case you were wondering.

It was a very different feel to last nights exhibition games. I miss the noise the most, but the empty arenas seem somewhat creepy. Anyhoo, I'm glad the Oilers beat the Flames, even if the goalies had to bail the team out after the let off the gas after the first period.
  5. I picked up my current driver from a preowned site and it was an inch shorter than normal. I have hit some of my best drives with this thing, although I'm not consistent enough with my swing to always take advantage of it.
  6. I finished both seasons of Counterpart a week or so ago. I found it very enjoyable. Currently finishing up the first season of Preacher in hopes that Amazon Prime Canada finally puts out the final one.
  7. I found Greyhound to be a bit of a mixed bag. I really enjoyed the tension during the battle scenes, but the more quiet moments felt like big parts were missing from them or left on the editing room floor. To me, they seemed slightly incomplete. Also, RIP to one of my childhood crushes Kelly Preston. Gorgeous lady, and I wish she would have made more movies over her career.
  8. Ford Vs Ferrari. Birdie. I don’t find racing that interesting, but every once in a while one of these movies comes along that I’m totally entertained with.
  9. Very sad news, indeed. Festivus will be extra special this year.
  10. If my home course ever gets clearance to golf, this is what I see happening there. The owners / managers are okay by my standards, but I can't see them adhering to a strict set of rules. Plus, I've never seen anyone pretending to be a marshall on the course in the ten years I've been golfing there, and I doubt they can afford to add extra staff to monitor even half of the playable holes. Speaking of which, there's a creek that runs through said course, and it floods at the beginning of each season with the snow melt. This year there's some extra flooding going on, and the pictures they've shown are about as bad as I've seen it. Not that it will be a huge issue, despite an online petition, our health minister person in charge has not deemed golf essential yet. And part of me is thankful for that, because with the way I see how people behave in relation to COVID while I'm at work doesn't inspire any confidence that golf would be any better.
  11. The Lighthouse. Par. Its more of a thriller than a horror, I think? Willem Dafoe and that guy from Twilight are really good in this. Not so scary in my mind, but still a creepy show.
  12. I've watched the first two episodes. I like it so far. That twist at the end of episode two sets up things nicely.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvcX0Ef9KUQ Very sad to hear Adam Schlesinger passed away from COVID today. I absolutely adored their first two albums.
  14. Dragged Over Concrete. Bogey. Overly long Mel Gibson / Vince Vaughn flick that has one or two extremely gory moments. Not a horrible movie, but there’s a lot of time spent listening to the two leads while they sit in a car on a stakeout.

I hope the season can be salvaged. My team makes the playoffs only every twelve or fifteen years, so you have to grasp the opportunities when they arrive

Man, I would have loved to have been at the Caps / Rangers game last night.
  17. I’ve found that the screening agents at whatever airport I go through are more worried about the can or two of aerosol bug spray than the actual contents of my golf bag. I usually shove as much crap as I can into my golf bag before traveling. As stated above, if it’s not over 50 pounds I’ve found they don’t have too many issues
  18. It took me a few tries to get through the pilot, but eight episodes in I’m hooked. Like bad.

After the All Star stuff tonight there was an hour long documentary (or Masterson application video, probably) on the amount of damage done to Connor McDavids knee in the final game of last season. I'm not sure how you'd watch it in the States since it isn't on YouTube yet, but wow, just wow. The Oilers picked up the rumored four million dollar tab for his rehab, and even still it's hard to believe he skated on opening day, let alone the preseason. I already had a lot of respect for the guy, but after watching this it's shot through the roof now.
  20. I watched a trio of movies over the last few days, starting with: Once Upon A TIme In Hollywood. Par. It's definitely Tarantino, but there wasn't the eight minute monologues this time around. Kind of slow and plodding, but sweet mother of Jebus what an ending! 1917. Birdie. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this twenty minutes in. By the end I was really impressed. I'll be watching this again in the future. Terminator: Dark Fate. Par. I could care less that this messed with the canon of some of the previous films, because to me, I haven't liked most of them to be honest. Not bad action flick, I thought Linda Hamilton was really good in her role.
  21. Back in the day my dad would have given me a good ole smack upside the head if I did that.
  22. My father in law, who still dabbles in used car sales despite being 'retired', bought a new Honda Ridgeline two years ago. He usually trades off his new vehicles after a year or so but he's quite fond of this one. I've had a few chances to drive it myself and I have to say I've been impressed. There's even a cubby in the box that's waterproof that perfectly holds a set of clubs with a little extra space for a pair of shoes.
  23. I was in the unfinished (actually, still to this day, except there's a few more scraps of carpet down there) basement of my parents house, getting all jacked up with my York (the cheap Canadian equivalent to Weider) weight set. As a thirteen year old, my only experiences with golf was watching Caddyshack a few times on VHS.
  24. Man, I really enjoyed the finale of the Mandalorian. I think I'm going to watch it again.
  25. I watched it today and wasn't blown away by any part of it, but I wasn't totally disappointed either. Let's hope the Skywalker saga is put on the shelf for a while, and maybe that time will give somebody the opportunity to write a more consistent story. There's a whole galaxy of tales to be told, and to be honest I've liked the Mandalorian more than any of the last trilogy. I just couldn't get invested in any of the new characters that much.
