You start a round and then… shankkkk
taxgolf replied to taxgolf's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I came to much from the outside. No connection, whatsoever. It is just about awereness. Give it a try. You can move the ball up closer if you preferre. but a Large part has to do how you feel. I felt ruwheid, excited, didn't sleep that well. And more excuses. Fact of the matter is, I feel this is not my season. My injury hampered me. After holliday I will get it done, pick my game up!! -
I'll probably never be banned. Heck, I am Dutch: tolerant and open minded! mwahahahaha

It is not my season. Was on the range, and off we go, shank, shank. angermanagement wasn't there. Then I started to hit it better, relaxation and bamm, shank, top. Hellraiser. Pinhead was there. At the end a pro came to me and gave me the following tip. Place a bottlel roughly 20 cm / 13 inch (?) on the outside and in line with the ball. The brain is now paying attention to other things than hitting the ball and it makes you swing more in to out. As soon as you start swinging out to in, you hit the bottle before you hit the ball. And it worked. Hitting it flush again. Lucky me. Confidence grew and positive feelings came back. Such a mindgame -
Well, I have to be humble here. I am not a economic specialist etc. So just my observations, which certainly doesn't mean it's the truth. It's what I make of it. To me, it was (or is) inevitable that at some point, that the European country's had to start working together in order to form somewhat of a united market, like the USA. One big market, a financial force in the world. It is an economic war out there. But in hindsight, one could argue it started all wrong. Greece is a very fine example. We all knew that their financial household was (is en will be) a mess. It was know in the seventies. They should be left out then. And all the new countrys entering, the EU wasn't ready for that. We will never know if we were better off if every country would have kept there own currency etc. I feel not. I always felt, left (keeping the status quo before the euro) or right (forming an EU, with now a Brexit, Greece financial crisis etc.) would bring trouble anyway. Different trouble, but nothing but trouble we would have to deal with. And it brought good stuff. We will never know if we were better off with a different road. The Netherlands had to pay a huge amount back to the EU not long ago. It was a political storm. It felt like the northern EU countrys (UK, Germany, Netherlands) were punished for their financial discipline. The more south you go, the worse it gets. I think people are fed up with the bureaucracy, stupid rules etc. At the end, where is the identity of a country? Anyway, the strange part of it that you simply can not deny that the last years, the UK got what they wanted for most part. Not using the € but keeping the pound might be the biggest example. The EU did a lot to keep Brittain in the EU. I wouldn't be surprised if we analyze it all in let's say, 2022, the shock isn't that big of what we thought back in 2016. A bit like the Y2K problem. 'To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years. To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day.'Churchill, 29 September 1959, Woodford, Essex (cited in Langworth, Churchill: In His Own Words) Anyway, the plunging of the pound might make a round at St. Andrews a bit cheaper.
-
What Brexit makes very clear, is that the EU must reform. A very important signal. Other than that, immigration apart, I fail yet to see what Brittain will gain from leaving the EU.
-
Well, the pound dropped and dropped and will be dropping further. But will come up at some point. Time will tell. A Ne(therlandse)xit will most likely never happen. But heck, who know's?
-
I wonder what it will bring. I think it's a stupid decission. Having said that: will things change? We have big multinationals all over the world. Economy's are so much condemned to each other. Does Scotland want to leave Brittain? Northen Ireland? When will the negotiations start? Who will lead them? Does the British Parlement have any saying in this? Who will call upon article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty first? What about the power of EU judges and limiting the free movement of workers, potentially in breach of the UK's treaty obligations? A long, hard road of negotiations between the UK and EU beckons although it is unclear when this process - likely to take years - will begin. I absolutely do not know what will happen next. I think it is an illusion that a leave will resolve all the UK problems. It won't. But it seems clear that the EU has to reform. my 2 eurocents or penny's.

I have a question. Don't know if it is a stupid one. I watched flashes on TV of the women PGA match, Ko and Henderson. It isn't broadcasted full coverage, but a summary. But it struck me that Ko (but I think also Henderson) geripped the club a bit short. Especially Ko seems to grip every club shorter. And I wonder why. I know you might grip shorter if you are between distances and you choose a longer club etc. Or you want another ball flight. But it seems she grips every club an inch or so shorter. Why is that? Is the shaft to long? Why doesn't she has a shorter shaft in her club? What is the reason? Not sure all women players do grip a bit shorter. Or is it just the TV that may looks like Ko grips the club shorter?

Poeh, when I started playing golf, I tend to get very happy when I hit a great shot. But when I hit a bad one, and certainly 2 in a row, I started to curse, got angry, might even hit the ground with the club. Then I played with a nice woman, and she adressed my behaviour afterwards. She didn't enjoy the round. told me just to except the outcome of the shot and play on. After you hit it, there is nothing you can do. Basically, I messed up her round. I felt so emberassed and ashamed and made a ton of excuses. I thank her for that lesson every time I play. But I have t admit that I sometimes forget that lesson, mostly when my game is bad. And sometimes after I hit a shot, and they say 'great shot', I answer 'mwah', because to me I felt I hit a bad shot, but the outcome was good. That is like being a bit arrogant. Need to work on that. Just accept and move on.

By accident I got in touch with a fitter. Madman. Het got his set and told me Pxg only talkshow to fitters. His irons were made for him. But he let me hit a few balls. I was impressed and certainly have no doubt the outperform the current US brands. When you have them in hand, those irons are more beautifull than in an advertisement. It is basically one huge sweetspot. I like the fact all clubheads weigh the same. But still wouldn't buy them unless they fit me and outperform. Very happy I was able to hit with them.

Thanks. Funny thing, it comes out of nowhere. 2 years ago, I had a great golf month in September and October. Season coming to an end, weather started to get worse. End October, a nice weatherforecast, so I could play 9 holes. Everything was fine, hit al the shots on the range. Hit a fine one from the tee, and then, bamm. I laughed, but ended up shanking allmost every shot. Didn't touch a club for 3 months. What I remembered mostly, that I could not control my emotions. -
It happens to me once or twice (lucky me) in a year. I'll explain. Last week i was at a club. I got to speak with the club pro who also fis a fitter. Track Man and a Pure system in the house. We talked about clubs. He showed me his clubs, which were PXG. Which I thought were impossible to get in Europe, let alone Holland. He let me hit a few balls. So impressed with those clubs, and happy, it felt nice. My round was about to start, so I wanted to hit a few balls, And offcourse it happened. First ball on the range, shank. and again again. I quickly stepped away, tried to loose my tension. It never got better in the round, even shanked a wedge. Somehow, when I hit a shank in a round, I can not get rid of it. The one shank I can handlle, but when you start a round and I top the driver and shank the next one, I know it is going to be a horrible round. How the H!@LL do you stop it when you hit 2 shanks in a row? What is the quickest fix? First thing I do is breath! Just breath in and out, try to relax. But I really would like to know how to stop it.

On page 3 I read your comments why you drifted away from S&T. Thanks. It is very difficult for me to comprehened how fierce the USA golfmarket is. Not sure if I discribe that correctly. I am a fan but people should evolve and adjust. I do not know why S&T didn't adjust when other / better info was at hand. I certainly like your open comments. 2 questions if I may. time is limited, so I play whenever I can. So I probably have a few swingfaults, hahaha. Should I balance it a little and take a few lessons and practise it? I try to go to the range every week and use 2 drills. second question is about Leadbetter. I do not like much of the info. But could you give some more info why his info is so bad and ruïnes golfers, like Wie? Into so much about bashing, but he has a huge platform with Golfdigest and throwing his a swing to us.

I've read the interview with Parsons and was impressed. I receive the email news letter. I think it is great that some fresh minds are roughing up the current powers that be. Same reason I like Bryson. I have emailled them for a free trail/fitting. I kept in mind that they would probably tell me that they are not represented in Europe, let Alone Holland. Never heard a thing. Zippy. Mailed them twice. I was just curious what they would answer. Anyway, I find the irons pretty ugly. But I would really like to know if they outperform the current brands to justify the price. But I am a huge fan of Japan brands. I doubt if Pxg would match the quality.

I find it becoming a strange discussion. My 2c. Stick with your evolved instructor. Or respect the given instructions. And deal with it. Use what you think is helpfull. Otherwise I do not understand why you would seek advise in this thread. I might be wrong but to me it seems you do not trust your evolved coach and or the given opinions. To me, it presents an insight how top coaches are looking at your swing.

I watched that Ko clip a couple of times. I found it difficult to spot the learning point, but I think I saw it. To me, she takes the club up and starting the backswing, it droppes ever so slightly on a flatter plane. Golf. So difficult. Time to for me to just hush, listen, read and watch.

I read a piece in Golfdigest (The anonymous pro) that TPC plays diffenrently 50 weeks per year, only the that one week... http://www.golfdigest.com/story/undercover-tour-pro-why-i-dont-like-playing-at-the-home-office ' I'm a fan of firm and fast, but there they bake out the fairways so much that it's Mickey Mouse. If your ball lands on the front-right fringe at 18, there's a good chance it'll kick all the way into the water over the green, which is just ridiculous. The course plays completely different the other 50 weeks a year.' I do not know if that's true, I even do not know if it really is a pro speaking or just a GD ghost writer...

I had high hopes. First, I didn't want to buy new clubs and/or gear for the year 2016. Well, that's the dumbest thing I said to myself. Golf is a sport and every new season, they manufactures bring out new goodies which make you hit the ball further, straighter, drive the par 5 in 2 with ease. I kept myself in hand, but I did buy a Odessy tank 7 putter. I have to say, it was the best investment yet. In 2015 I 'invested' in an Aimpoint clinic, and that helped my putting tremendous. But his new putter, with a superstroke grip, 38 inch shaft somehow gives me tons of confidence, every time I put. Somehow, distance control comes natural. When I practise on the putting green, and play a game (I drop three balls at a certain distance which I have to put all three in 2, then I can go to the next hole, a miss is starting all over), it's 2 put max. Full of confidence to start 2016. But the weather since January is really crap, with loads of rain. Actually, today is the first bright and sunny day! But 2 months ago, I torn a tendon under my biceps at a sparring session (kickboxing). Goodby season. Rest, rest, rest, to get rid of the imflamation. Acupunctuur and chiropractic helped. Now I am starting to pick up the game. Last year, this was the moment I started to get the form, the feeling and halfway May, I would slowly but surely pick up the points to lower my hcp. Not this year, I guess, but will see. A low hcp isn't a goal by itself, it comes woth better play. Ah well, so, for 2016, I might get some new shafts in my i3/4, but that's about it. Furthermore, I am gonne play a few nice courses, one in Belgium. I hope to enjoy the rounds, work on my course management, pay my respect to the courses I play and hope to score on them. Try to relax and enjoy. And by the end of the year (probably October) we will see how I did.

I am not so sure if you can or want to tell a bit more about that. You do have more insight than others and I would really like to know about leadpoison etc. But I would also understand if you can't. When I picked up a golfclub for the first time, I bought a dvd of LeadB. At that time, his info made sense. How naïve of me. For what is worth, I do not think you should critisize your student in public. Most of the members of public probably do not have a clue what teacher and student are working on. To me, it seems to be a split-up in the making. I am sorry, I fail to see quoting your own article contributes here in relation to mr Leadbetter.

What a difficult question it is. I might answer it differently years to come. Mr. Palmer did undoubtely so much for golf, it is hard to pass on his greatness. Unfortunately, I have never seen him play, only watched him on the tube and from recent years on the TV. A great, great golfer and person. In Holland, golf was a relative unknown sport, for the happy few. I saw Nicklaus play on the BBC, without satelite. I saw his yellow garment, walking over the bridge at St Andrews and had tears in my eyes. I knew then instinvtively, this man was great, a sporting hero. Yet his achievements were relative unknown to me. Along came Tiger, never saw that epic year in 2000. He is the reason I watch golf. Without him, golf is boring. mr. Palmer set golf up, Tiger made it great and built on it. To me, it's Tiger, nothing, nothing, nothing and then the rest of the field. I saw wild baby John Daly win the Open. What a player! I always like to watch him. He is different, a camp. I didn't recognize what Seve B. did for the game. Slowly it creeps in. Hogan, can't do without him. I spend evenings watching him on youtube. Rory? Might be. Speith, mmm. Phil? No, I am putting my chips on young Bryson D. He is gonna change the game of golf. For sure. He thinks out of the box! But he will be always behind Tiger.

Boxing - My New Activity - Improve golf swing power?
taxgolf replied to Dave325's topic in Fitness and Exercise
I love to take from time to time a boxing lesson, with cardio afterward. But for me, I like kickboxing more. Dutch style offcourse. Unfortunately, I injured 2 lower biceps musscles during sparring. So I can't do nothing, just rest, icing, rest, biofreeze etc. My season is already gone to pieces. But what I realy like, is the workout, the fun, training and sparring, working through pain and never give up. -
Golfing With Strangers-The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
taxgolf replied to Gator Hazard's topic in Golf Talk
I tend to agree, I am not sure if that is the rule on that local club (which I quite well could understand), they shouldn't let us on the course. I have to say, they asked us about our hcp (12/13) so I think they made a judgement call thinking we wouldn't hold players up. -
Golfing With Strangers-The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
taxgolf replied to Gator Hazard's topic in Golf Talk
Stupid people on a golf course in every country. Sunday, I booked a greenfee. That course uses a spiral for starting times. I was there at 08.50. Friendly madam warned me that a club tournament would start at 9.30, so she advised us not to go to the dr, but directly to hole 1 and warm up a bit. Oh yeah, that's the start of a solid round. Anyway, we were just about to tee off (9.00) when a clubmember walked up. Starting with a "slight' arrogance tone telling us we should keep up with the group in front of us, keep our pace etc., because, a club tournament was just about to start! A bit surprised I told him that we were informed about that but that the tournament would start in half an hour, and that we probablywould be at hole 4 by then. What's the problem? But again, the lecture start. Just a member with a disrespect to green fee players (and courses in Holland do need the greenfee player). The arrogance made me angry, I asked him friendly to bugger of, cleared my throat and dropped a bom near the teebox. He walked away.
