    I find if I'm hitting a little fat that looking in front of the ball a couple of inches helps to make sure I'm hitting with a negative AoA. Otherwise I don't really focus intently on the ball I just look at it.

    I use Apex irons during my lessons and I'm not amazed by them. They are certainly nice but no nicer than many other irons.

    No prize money would be zero issue, the sponsor deals coming his/her way would be insane.

    Ah, I didn't mean lessons are a necessity, just that going to one lesson and expecting a major improvement is somewhat unrealistic.

    That's your problem right there. One lesson isn't going to change anything. You need to stick with them and see a pro on a regular basis if you want large improvements.

    If I was a psychologist I would say boredom with your job and family life. 26 is pretty young to have to kids and be married. It's easy to see how you might be feeling like you have missed out on your best years and are using golf as a distraction tactic.

    It took me easily 6 months of trying to find good looking shoes and when I finally get a pair that I love clubs start banning them! Adidas do have some nice non-golf shoes that would probably do the job.

    The steeper swing plane of the shorter clubs comes from the club head being closer to the body and increasing the angle between the floor and the shaft. Are you holding the club too far away or maybe getting too close to the ground by bending your knees too much? I'm no expert by the way, just thinking how you might be creating the wrong plane with your setup.

    I have the grey/dark grey ones pictures above, have done about 6 months. They only leave a mark on the green when the green is soaking wet, in the dry they leave no marks at all.

    An update: My wife has been to two lessons now and is already suggesting *to me* that we go to the range to practise :)

    The worst thing about playing in winter is getting to the 18th with the sun going down and not enough time for another 18.

    It's hard to match a black glove to the clothes you are wearing, that's why they generally look crap. Matched with a black or grey jumper and they are ok. Anything else, especially navy, looks wrong.

    I guess I'm on level 2 already, in January I convinced my wife to get total beginner lessons. Her first one is next Monday.

    Yep, they are doing custom adizeros on the Adidas website now.

    There is one of these in Central London, but it's way too expensive.

    I've played with those gloves and they are certainly thick enough to cause a reduced grip pressure.

    6 iron. Just enough length to make progress without uncontrollable slice if I hit it wrong.
