  1. No better Cameron than another, just diffferent styles.
  2. I carry three wedges (plus a PW) because I hit my driver a long way and find that I end up hitting a lot of shots inside 140 yards. For the last couple years it's been Vokey spin milled 52 (54 bent to 52), 56, and 60. My yardages are PW-135, 52-120, 56-105, 60-90. The beautiful thing about carrying so many wedges (IMO) is the ability to get creative with short iron shots and around the green.
  3. I've never used a glove to play; only tried it a couple times at the range. I feel like it restricts movement too much and takes away a ton of the feel. For what it's worth, I also played baseball for most of my life and never used a batting glove when hitting either.
  4. I got a decent deal on a new set of Mp32's online, so I pulled the trigger. I'm hoping I like them. After hearing how great the 32's are for years, I finally just jumped on a set. I'm playing a set of X-Tours right now that I've been playing for a couple years now. However, I noticed a bent shaft on my 3i the other day and figured i'd put the cash toward a new set instead of just replacing the 3. I imagine I'll finally settle on a combo set with blades in the 7 or 8-P and something like the MP57 or 58 in the rest. For now though, I'd like to work on my ball striking and figured a set of blades will make me improve. I'm currently around a 10 or 11 handicap up from a 5 or 6 since law school started (law school is trying to ruin my game.) I'll have to post a report in a few weeks after a few rounds and some range time.
  5. 39+41=80 at LV National. I struck my irons really well today, but felt my swing kind of fall apart at the end of the round. We teed off at 3:00 in around 105* heat. By the end of the round I was beat! On a side note, I played with my Dad and had a great time. For the record, he shot a 78 and beat me. He's almost 60 and still plays really well.
  6. Good recommendation on Wolf Creek. Beautiful, albeit very very challenging golf course. Definitely worth the hour drive! I really like Bear's Best a lot. It's a lot of fun and offers some great views of the valley. Bali Hai is also nice. I just drove by a hour ago and it looks to be in great shape. TPC Canyons is also a fun course. You really can't go wrong with any of the above.
  7. I've broken a couple. I was on the side of a steep hill and had a 6 iron back toward the top of the hill. I took a hrd swing and snapped the shaf in half after strin\king the ball. I also broke my driver once, though not while swinging it. I hit a new spin milled wedge into the green and scuffed the hell out of a pretty new pro-v. I putted out, picked up my ball, and went to throw it over my cart into the desert. Well, I happened to hit my driver directly on the hosel around 40 yards away, without the head cover on it (I ALWAYS put the headcover on, not sure why I didn't this time), and heard a small *ting* as the head of my R7 TP hit the cart path. Thankfully Taylor Made fixed it for free and I got to continue using my $800 driver!
  8. My Dad is 58 and has been playing for around 40 years. When he was playing a lot about 10 years ago he was down to around a 2 handicap. Now he has less time to play and carries a 6 handicap. He did shoot a 73 last Saturday though. I enjoy playing with him a lot regardless of how well either of us play. In fact, I'm meeting him at the golf course in a couple of hours for 18!
  9. I got my degree in accounting last December, and will start law school in August.
  10. If your short game is better than your long game, bogey golf would be good. I'm usually around even on par 3 courses, but am a 10 handicap on a full course. If it's the other way around, like the guy above me said, anything better than 45 is better than your handicap.
  11. I've shot a 75 twice. One time was with one of my brothers and 6 of my cousins, to this day, they think I'm the greatest golfer ever. The other time was at Canyon Gate here in Vegas. I went out around 6:00 to hit some range balls and an aquaintance who was trying to get on the nationwide tour was going to go play by himself and invited me to play with him, so I did. I played great and shot a 75 and he played poorly and shot a 76. It was a great confidence booster for me!
  12. I definitely give up the most shots off the tee. The problem for me is that when I hit a bad tee ball, I often don't have a good look at the green which screws up my second shot, which causes me to miss the green, etc... I guess what I'm saying is that if I hit a bad tee shot, there are consequences for the rest of the hole, not just one shot.
  13. I really don't care what people wear. Their clothing has absolutely no effect on me. Maybe if I paid $20,000 a year to be a member somewhere I'd care a little more. I play well enough, but don't feel like I need to dress like I'm on the tour because, well...I'm not.
  14. The J36 blades are really sweet. The Titleist zm's are also very very nice. I'd say that not at least checking these two out would be doing yourself a disservice.
  15. I've got a bunch. It seems like when I win events that give out gift cards I buy a couple dozen balls and a pair of shoes. Not really sure why, but that's my routine. I've got Ecco, Nike (2), Foot Joy (2), Adidas, and Callaway. I may be forgetting a pair or two, but I've got a bunch.
  16. I expect an average drive to travel around 280-285. The problem is that my accuracy is not the best. Driving is definitely the weakest part of my game. I'd estimate that I hit 5-6 fairways in an average round. I'd have no problem giving up a few yards for accuracy, but I'm no more accurate when I swing easy with my driver than when I take a full solid swing. I think I could bring my handicap down 3-4 strokes pretty easily if I could improve my tee game. Just for reference, I swing a Callaway FT5 with a X-Stiff Fujikura shaft.
  17. Absolutely crushed a drive 311yds on a par 5 today. Great trajectory and a little right to left. Left me a 3 iron in.
  18. 43+39=82 I only hit 1 fairway on the front, but hit 6 on the back. I hit 11 greens, but couldn't make a freaking putt.
  19. While I appreciate what you're saying, I disagree. You don't have to let yourself be verbally and mentally abused in order to take the high road. You can stand up for yourself and still rise above. Maybe what I posted was a little extreme, but even if she went as far as I suggested it wouldn't make her an a-hole like Lori. That being said, I still wish someone would tell Lori to stuff it.
  20. As annoying as Lori is with her BS mind games, it annoys me even more that Christina doesn't fire back at that big bitch. When they were tag teaming her at breakfast, I was hoping she'd stand up, tell Lori an Sophie to go f themselves, and walk off. I understand that everyone is there to win, but to me, Lori's antics go way beyond poor etiquette and are plain ridiculous. I'm definitely pulling for Christina.
  21. Who cares what you pay for a putter as long as you like it and putt well with it. I had a lot of putters before I bought a Studio Stainless (including other Camerons) and I've had a lot since (including other Camerons) and I always end up with my Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2.5 in my bag. Try one, you'll like it.
  22. I'm up in the air on what irons to go with. I've been playing Callaway X-Tours and would like a little more control over my shots and more feedback when I strike the ball. I've been looking at the Titleist ZB, the Mizuno MP-57 and the Bridgestone J36 Combo set. I've read user comments about teh Titleists and the Mizuno's, but haven't read any user reviews for the Bridgestones. I've hit all three clubs off of a matt into a net, but haven't had a chanceto get out on the course with any yet. Please let me know what you think of the J36's if you swing them. How forgiveable, yardage compared to other clubs, feel on mis-hits, etc... Thanks in advance for the help. Joe
  23. I love having a 3 iron in my bag. I'll hit it from the tee, the fairway, the rough and even from a fairway bunker (if it has a low lip). When I strike it well I can carry it around 230 and have it land fairly soft making it a very useful tool.
  24. I carry a 46, 52, 56, 60. I carry driver and 2 hybrid instead of having a 3 wood and a hybrid. I hit my driver fairly long and like to be able to swing a full 56* for 110 yards or a full 52* for 120 yards instead of trying to back off or kill a club that is the wrong yardage. If I were to drop a wedge though, I'd drop the 60* and bend my 56* to 58*. In your situation, you're probably fine with your PW, a 52* or 54* and a 58* or a 60*.
  25. In normal conditions, my 5 iron flies around 200. I'm not nearly as confident with my hybrids as I am with my irons, so the hybrids rarely see bag time.
