I am new here and try to contribute when I feel I can. A lot of times the thread has multiple answers with my same answer. I don't want to be the 30th dude to say.... go to a fitter lol

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
CamoCladWarrior replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I purchased a couple clearance hats and a new super stroke grip for the putter. Then headed to the course -
Would love to give em a try

I don't think Mary will last long. They are trying to portray her as this mean competitor when in all reality her mental game is just not there. Although we only have seen her play once, after two shots she was showing her emotions and being pissed. I am curious to see how she handles some real pressure.

I game a 12 degree driver. I also have a bit of forward press in my setup with causes me to hit the ball low. In my situation it helped. I would suggest getting with a fitter and looking at the numbers on a launch monitor

Embroidering your name on your bag
CamoCladWarrior replied to mailman's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
It's your bag. Do what you want. I have had my name on most of the bags I have played up until now. Between middle school, high school, and college. They all had my name and school name and all where stand bags. I recently purchased a new bag without my name because I have been out of school for a couple years. But when it comes down to it you can do whatever you want -
Hey all, My name is Nick and I am 25 years old. I reside in sedro-Woolley and am looking for playing partners who can play during the week. I work a rotating schedule and my regular playing partners only play on the weekend. I am not scared to drive a little ways. Will possibly be playing a round this friday.... Anyone out there?

Callaway Supersoft Golf Balls
CamoCladWarrior replied to tmac20's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I was at the golf store today and just about bought a dozen. I kinda got scared when the pro told me that they are designed for swing speeds under 90 mph. When I can get my hands on a sleeve I will try them but until then I am hesitant. I might just be over thinking it as well -
Golf Equipment Pricing ("Cost" vs. Retail)
CamoCladWarrior replied to nickel_aTm's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Most of the time in retail, items have different mark up percentages. Retail is what I do for a living and marking merchandise at a standard percentage will not work. You also have to factor in buying practices. Most manufacturer s will offer buying incentives for retailers on new or discontinued product. So I guess the simple answer is it depends on your location and the retailer you are purchasing from. -
I took about a 7 year break from the game and have been back at it for about 3 weeks. This last week I played two courses. The first I shot a 93 and the second I shot a 90. Ball striking has gotten back to where I was before but I am giving up a lot of strokes around the greens. I bought all new clubs and i am still trying to get used to the new clubs and get a little touch back. Hopefully progress to follow....

WITB Photo Edition!
CamoCladWarrior replied to Laxplayer201092's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Those cobra t rails are sick aren't they? I put a 5 wood in the bag this year and love the thing -
Able to or not. He isn't hitting a decent cut either.
-
That's sucks. Go hit what you can. Take the pros and cons out of each club so you can detter decide
-
I have always had issues hitting fairway woods but I recently picked up a cobra baffler t rail 5 wood. It is a good fairway wood. I hit the ball low and can really get this one up and can keep it on line

womens golf clubs
CamoCladWarrior replied to CamoCladWarrior's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the input guys. I will bring this information to her as I am allowing her to make the final decision -
I have searched the forum and have found a handful of information but not quite what I was looking for. My wife would like to start playing the game. She says she is very serious about playing the game but has not started. My question is should I buy her a new set of clubs that are nice for example Callaway or cobra or adams. Or do I buy used clubs and piece a set together. Or do I buy her a cheap Walmart set. I having been thinking about the pros and cons of each but though everyone here might have some experience.

There is a bit of a gap there. A gap wedge would fill the gap. Although I know many players who don't carry one and just learn how to control the ones they do have. I just added a gap to my bag and am loving it so far

The Short Game Movie on NetFlix in December
CamoCladWarrior replied to bmartin461's topic in Golf Talk
I watched it as well due to this thread. I seen a lot of golf but I also seen a lot of kids being kids. As in most of these kids situation they are building relationships that could be useful later in life. I thought it was a good movie. Found it enjoyable and would love to see a follow up movie in about 10 years -
I had a great time play high school golf. At my school the first week of practice you would play the course everyday. Your scores would set the teams. Both varsity and junior varsity. We would play a round the day before a tournament to give everyone a chance at improving their average. When at a tournament we would take 6 golfers. All the numbers 6's would play and so on. I graduated a handful of years ago but my advice would be to make the most out of your resources. Use your range time and practice time to get better. If you work harder than the other players you will improve

I recently tried the coverts. I thought the top line was a little thick and the overall head weight was a little heavy for me. I did however like the feel of them. I ended up not buying them and went with another set. The bottom line is you need to test the clubs and be properly fitted.
-
The reason I love golf is because it is as little or as much as you want it to be. What I mean is you can pick up a cheap set of clubs and hack around the local muni course or you can shoot for the pro tour. With this being said I believe golf can be affordable to just about anyone. I also believe the face of our sport is changing and will hopefully give younger kids of this generation to look up to.

Like said above. After taking way to many years off from golf I have gotten back into playing. It took this advice and went to the local golf store. I had done my Internet research and had 3 sets of irons I wanted to try. After hitting all 3 and a couple others the fitter recommended I purchased a set that wasn't even on my radar. You need to buy what works for you and your budget.
-
like the others said try to focus on your next shot. Start to take notes on how the other players are managing the course and their shots. For me, if I have to play with a anti social golfer like you did I want to take something away from the round. Playing with good players will help to make you better.

Does anyone else have a backup putter?
CamoCladWarrior replied to PathToThePGA's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I like to have a couple putters around as well. If my putting stroke goes to hell it is sometimes as easy as changing the putter.
