  1. @Dave2512 4-7" in Denver on May 12th huh? Karma for all the gloating you did this winter!!
  2. I also have this problem too so bad with a DIRECT shadow, but like some of the other guys when its at a certain angle it actually is a help. The only thing I have ever tried with limited success is trying to pick out a dimple on the ball.. tightens your peripheral vision slightly so you notice the shadow less, but like I said, limited success. It drives me nuts too.
  3. thanks! @Ernest Jones
  4. I think I have most of those things you guys talk about working against me.. I'm the opposite of an adrenaline junky... im generally pretty anxious (as in diagnosed by a doc anxiety disorder), and I definitely am way too focused on not screwing up, rather than shutting it all of and letting the rest take care of itself. I'll have to look for that thread about dealing with pressure.
  5. Just wondering what everyone's mind set is when trying to bring a good pre-round warm up or even a practice session from days earlier to the course? Especially interested in those of you who play in a lot of tournaments. I struggle big time with pre-round jitters even in casual rounds and can almost never carry that looseness often found on the range to the first tee. Case and point, I played yesterday and always end my warm up with 5-10 drivers (or first tee clubs), depending on how well I hit them. The course I played has a tall net at about 275 out, and I ripped 5 straight high draws into the net on the fly and thought wow, this is gonna be a great round. Proceeded to hit 2 fairways (both with less than driver) and mixed in about 5 toe hooks and a few heeled cuts right over the course of the round and shot the most foul 83 you've ever laid eyes on. So, who's got a good strategy to stay loose and "bring it to the course"?
  6. My favorite partner is someone who is better than me.
  7. As far as MA goes, I got to get out at the Meadows at Peabody yesterday, 20$ for 9 with cart (which was shocking)... It was damp in spots, but really not too bad, not as bad as I expected, and I only saw one 2x2 patch of snow in a shaded bunker. All regulations greens and tees... The depression may be lifting.
  8. Those are juicy distances, please tell you are going to post a my swing thread!?
  9. This is one of my new favorite videos. One of the best, close up, multi-speed, multi-angle looks at one pretty ass swing:
  10. I am a self admitted rotary swing guy, but what I've come to realize after spending a lot of time on this forum and learning a little bit more about the 5 keys, is this (quoted). They really are just two ways of trying to get you to master the same few fundamental ideas and moves. I find it super beneficial to pull pieces from both and use what works for, wait for it.... YOU.
  11. This guy. Every time I see Jacobson his shirt is untucked. He's a disheveled mess. Belt never matches the hat or shoes, that hat is not a cool style anymore. I dunno, maybe just my own opinion, but he's right up there.
  12. Absolutely did, and watched the entire video (its been a slow work day haha). Obviously, there are so many tour pros and top players who extended the knee to some degree, it must be acceptable if not preferred. Makes me feel better about my inability to maintain flexion. Re: Dustin Johnson he absolutely straightens that back leg, although I have heard him (and Butch Harmon) say on multiple occasions that they've worked to reign that in...Maybe just a matter of less straightening vs. maintaining total flexon. This! This is what I am starting to believe more than anything, that it is a matter of flexibility. Torso, back, hamstrings? I am not sure what is so flexible, probably a combination of all. That being said, if you could achieve that level of flexibility...does maintaining the flex in the knee become advantageous, or at the very least a more stable base against which you coil? There must be a reason why he doesn't straighten, which seems to be the more natural move. Is it because he can or is it serving a purpose? Why is that ? If it comes from a tour player's mouth, or from his instructor, why is that crap? What is your basis for this argument? I am more than willing to listen, but that is groundless sh*t slinging as it stands now. Maybe not the zenith, though you yourself just admitted there is no zenith, so one might as well pick one. If we are to place any stock in those who watch the game most often (commentators/analysts) who claim his swing one of the best in golf, then I don't see why not his. Although I am sure they are crap too. And no, no he didn't. He just had a win and two top 5's in the majors. But okay, point taken. I don't know what it is about you, but your watchdog mentality towards all things Simple Keys, and your groveling toward the Pros on the site at any point when mechanics are discussed, is almost comical. My original post had zero negative intent; in fact I am a big fan of Mike and Eric, and have learned a TON from what they've shared about Simple Keys. I posed a question, looking for clarification, and you turned it into an argument. As a mostly quiet observer of this forum for quite some time, I have noticed that you are incapable of having a conversation about mechanics without reverting to the 5 keys with aggressive fervor. I think you comment with some rude retort on 95% of all things mechanics and swing related. RELAX. That is the beauty of the golf swing. It is never a perfect science, and questions are asked and answered and discussed LOGICALLY, all the time. No need to turn defensive; no one is attacking your nest. Maybe it's just the way in which you answer or your choice of words, but you are irksome.
  13. Agreed. Here is better contrast. I would actually submit that there is more knee flex at the top than at address.
  14. I swear I am not trying to troll or beat a dead horse... but I think we can all agree (including nearly every golf commentator, every time Adam tees it up), that this is one of the most fundamentally sound and perfected golf swings today, if not ever. There is very little knee straightening happening here, that is really tough to argue. His right hip absolutely goes behind him and up a bit, but how does he remain so flexed? I ask because I know for me personally, maintaining this amount of flex while staying centered is SO difficult, if not impossible. I do straighten my right leg, not consciously or purposefully; in fact I've spent the better part of two years on the course and in the gym trying to be able to do what he does in terms of leg action...and I'm still not even close. I have been told not to maintain flex and NOT hyper extend, and have only recently seen the guys here say otherwise? So what's right? Wasting time working on this move? Maybe its more of a personal choice/ feel/ ability than its been made out to be in this thread. I don't know. Be gentle. Also.. remembered reading this last year or two years ago in Golf Digest, just found the article.....

    I'm A Caddy

This read is by far the coolest I have read on this forum. Hope you keep it going!
  16. Anyone have any courses open or about to open for 2014?
  17. Just posting a more recent swing here so I could have some progression all in one place.
  18. I flew down to Northern Virginia to visit friends Saturday to Tuesday, and planned to play as much golf as possible. Played 18 Saturday and Sunday, and woke up this morning to 8 inches of snow on the ground. Not exactly the ideal golf trip conditions. Just cannot escape the white stuff this winter.
  19. Damn. I guess I will just be playing Saturday and Sunday. Unless the snow is super light and melts for Tuesday. Hoping it stays rain. How far South do you need to go in general to find a rain/snow line?
  20. Hey I am visiting a buddy in Manassas that's close to you right? I'm only going Saturday to Tuesday, but I am hearing snow on Monday?! Is that what they are saying there?? I'll be real bummed if I only get one or two rounds in.
  21. I've been using this website quite a bit.. http://www.myforecast.com/bin/expanded_forecast_15day.m?city=19327&metric;=false It has been giving a relatively accurate 15 day extended forecast, and so far its looking like the last one for the Boston area. We'll see.
  22. Couldn't be any more true. I'd put two hoodies on and go play in 38-40, so long as the snow is gone and the grass isn't crunching frozen under my feet.
  23. I assume using a 60 it wasn't so much a chip shot as it was a high pitch or even a flop? Out of rough? If you are trying to hit actual chip shots with a 60, that's your first mistake, unless you are really desperate to make it grab and don't have much room to work with... Less loft=more room for error with short game shots, especially if you have some green to work with... and in general the lower you keep the ball, especially with the short clubs, the easier it should be to control.
  24. I dislike you Dave. We are commiserating. You are bragging.
  25. Well just for reference I'm about 6'2", and I knew going in my swing was definitely more upright than flat.. the changes he ended up suggesting were... +1/2" shaft length (skipped this for now because of the cost to extend including new grips/extenders etc) +1.5* upright +1* strong throughout Haven't even gotten them back yet, its been like two weeks, I plan to call today. I'm heading down to Virginia next weekend to visit some friends, and hoping to play there. Pretty apprehensive about jumping on the course with new lofts and lies, but for now I can't tell you how the adjustment will be. And I feel your pain on getting new clubs.. especially when yearly dues payments are right around the corner. Whats the club between your 3i and 3w? 2h? whats the yardage gap between that and the 3iron? 4iron? I guess the alternative is getting something in the 52* range you can still get out of the bunker? Best way to do it "scientifically" haha is probably to just lay out your 11 clubs (excluding putter, 3w, dr) and try to get as even a gap between them as possible while still covering the biggest range of yardages. Its all personal choice and feel I think.
