  1. When I was growing up, the 11th hole at my home course hat it. It was a par 5 and from the tee you had to hit an iron most of the time. The second shot, you could either try to go over the lake or follow the fairway around the lake. If you tried to go over the lake, you had to carry it at a minimum of 225. Now I would probably try it, but not back then.
  2. I have that all the time. Mine is the wedges. I am having trouble getting them on the green at times. The other day when I played, I had a 48 on the front nine. Wedges could not even get the ball on the green, only 1 three putt. On the 8th hole, I started hitting the wedges better and then the game cam together. After getting the wedges better, I proceeded to shot a 37 on the back. That is the best I can hop for right now until I can start playing more often. I think I need to warm up the wedges on the range more before playing and maybe that will make a difference.
  3. It will make a lot of difference mentally. The new clubs down there will give you a lot more confidence. The newer technology will make some difference in the game and it will probably help you hit the ball farther.
  4. I am happy for you. Mind GF/wife (in 9 days) has went to the range with me a couple of times and she is aweful. She is not taking tips and if she keeps trying, she might get it. I wish she would get more into the game and play some. I have the same problem with only me ever playing. Every now and again, I get asked to play while I am at the course because the people that would be in front of us are really going to be slow.
  5. I have done that with a really old driver, but never with the new technology.
  6. Great job. Keep it going.
  7. It definitely has something to do with the mat. The mat takes all of the essence of the divot away. If you hit it a little chunky off of the mat. It still looks great, but the grass would have slowed your club down already and not gone as far. Just focus more on striking on the ball. Think that this is just a shot on the range and focus on making that practice swing instead of an intense course swing.
  8. Thanks. I am using oobgolf and if I ever need an official, then I will try something else.
  9. I agree with kc8. Hit the fade shot. Hit the ball at the center of the green and with a slight fade. If you mess up, you are still in the middle of the green. Getting too aggressive can cause major problems and you could be in the trap or worse in the bushes and bring some really high scores into play. With hitting the center of the green, you can easily make par and if you are fading or drawing the ball good considering where the pin is placed, then you have a really good shot at birdie.
  10. I say the Pro V1, Pro V1x, or the NXT Tour. Right now I am hitting the NXT and am not having any problems making the ball stop. They are cheaper than the Pro V1 and V1x.
  11. It has to be personal preference. You just need to hit the Titleist and see if you like them. I would try the ZB and ZM while you are at it.
  12. The 60 definitely. Very evident if you every watch Phil Mickleson hitting the wedges. He puts a lot more movement on the 60 and 64 that he carries than the 56.
  13. I have a different opinion on the 3 and 4 iron. I love the 3 and 4 for the MP-32's. I have them and I can hit them better than any other 3 and 4 iron. I have been using the 3 iron off the tee because the course I play is much shorter and I blister it all the time. I do not think that the 3 and 4 are hard to hit at all. Just an opinion though.
  14. Which Vokey's are we talking about? The Spin Milled, or the custom designed, or is there something new that I have not heard about.
  15. I like the 9.5. It is more versitile and creates less spin on the ball.
  16. I do not use one. I want complete feel with the putter and the glove does not give me that. It is just an opinion though.
  17. If you do find a job, let us all know. That way we can tell people that we know somebody that sells for a golf manufacturer.
  18. 85. An aweful 48 with 2 triples and a double on the front. Whopping 37 on the back. Once I got the wedges on the green, it was money.
  19. Is there anyone from Columbia that has an instructor? Thanks Dub. I might have to give him a call.
  20. I am glad that everyone has done some homework on this. I have been interested in the same thing and that is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
  21. I will agree with everyone else. All of the wedges you have mentioned are very good wedges. I have a Vokey and a Mizuno MP-R. I like both of them. The only thing that I have recently discovered that has concerned me is the Weight of the clubs. The weight of the wedges are vastly different. If you like a lighter club the Vokey is lighter than my Mizuno.
  22. The fitting for my clubs at the local golf store was $35. That was for them to fit me with length and lie and give me advice as to what clubs to try. They gave me the original sheet that they wrote everything on and just kept a copy of it for their knowledge.
  23. I know it is all relative to what people say. And this is just my opinion, but I think you might want to talk to a local pro or to someone int he golf store. You say you are new to golf, does that mean that you have never picked up a club or have you hit some and want a set of your own now. If you have actually hit some before and like to hit and think that you are willing to really start practicing, then I would talk to someone in the local store. They will match you with something in your skill level and what you might want. Then you might want to think about a set of clubs that will get you better. Maybe something a little harder to hit and will make you better. The first set of clubs that I ever had and learned to play on was a set of true blades. They are really hard to hit, but they taught me really quickly how I needed to hit the ball to not get my hands beat up really badly. Just personal preference though. Adams golf has some good sets to learn on that are not the badly priced.
  24. I bought some new gloves, hat, and lead tape.
  25. I will be interested to see. I am glad that they are not getting rid of the MP 32's. i really like them.
