It's the Golf Launch Pad by Electric Spin
-
Alan Shepard, the first American in space and fifth man to step foot on the Moon used a six iron club head attached to the bottom of a collecting tool to be the first "lunar golfer" It took two swings before he connected his club with the 'little white pellet'. Seemingly unsatisfied with his shot, Shepard dropped another ball to the ground and this time took glee in his drive. "Miles and miles and miles," Shepard exclaimed. It was later estimated that Shepard's shots had traveled only 200 to 300 yards, but that was good enough to earn Shepard the title of first lunar golfer. Link 1 Link 2

GolfTec Golf Lessons - Feedback, Discussion
chris408 replied to chauvotsm's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Thinking of getting my custom club fitting through Golftec through Golfsmith. So I was wondering if anyone has gone through them and what their experience was. It's either there or through my local course. Thanks in advance. -

Legends Reno-Tahoe Open...Michelle Wie is playing!
chris408 replied to underparnv's topic in Tour Talk
Given all that she's gone through, I wonder how much SHE really wants to do this, vs. her dad/caddie/manager/whatever... wanting her to. To me, winning here seems to me a do or die situation for continuing on the tour next year, whereby she has to win enough money (about $80K) to finish in the top 80 LPGA players. That's a lot of pressue. Too much, I think. -
I use this approach as well. I use an extra scorecard and used that as my practice "course" and play with the yardage markers at the range. I do find going everyday, at a mat range, does wear on your body. I find my elbow and shoulders are becoming more sore. I currently working with a pro to fix some kinks, in my swing so going everyday, even with a small bucket, helps keep the lesson in memory. And as said before, doing your setup routine at each shot as well as using targets and setting goals each time you go out, all help ingrain the process.

Looking into a Golf Membership - Have Some Questions
chris408 replied to sioutdoors's topic in Golf Talk
Just wondering for those of you who are members of a club, have you found it worth it? And what are your approximate membership fees per year? And is it for an 9, 18 or more? And how often do you play? I'm looking around locally at club memberships and prices vary between 9 & 18 hole courses. I found a 9 hole for about $2700 annually. Main benefits are unlimited use of the course, grass range and short-game practice areas. -
Just wondering if anyone has setup their own practice area at home. I'm thinking of buying a mat and net to work on my swing in the garage since it's hard to get away with infant twins. I try to get to the range before work, but that's not always consistent. Any recommendations on a mat? Net? Other ideas?

I think it's a lack of respect for the Open. For an injury, that's understandable. But for weather? And it's not like they were the only two out there, all these other players were sticking it out in the SAME conditions. He at least should've finished the round.
-
Me too! I think this could be the one for him. Hope he keeps it up. Though I did want Tiger to win the US Open, having Rocco win would've been a great ending as well. You can tell he truly loves the game.

Now it's my 8 month year old, and growing, twins. Surprising how two of everything adds up. And in a close 2nd with golf is scuba diving, mountain biking, and road biking.

The Scorecard thing is actually a pocket that's reachable with your left hand when you've got the bag on your back. The water bottle holder and pencil holder are also on the left side. There are also a lot of pockets, which I like, that'll hold just about everything. Also next to the ball holder are 4 slots (two on each side of the ball holder) to place standard tees (will not fit brush-T's). Here's a quick pick, the back pad is on the picture's left side, while the pockets are on the right. Of course when you're wearing the bag, the pockets will be on your left. You can also go to the Ogio site and do the 360 spin view. Grom link (Which is where the pic was taken from)

Well finally replaced my old Nike bag with a Ogio Grom stand bag. I'm really impressed with the bag. The "Woode" divider system is a nice touch and the placement of the various pockets, like the water bottle and scorecard, really works. Have yet to walk an entire course with it, but so far it feels comfortable.

I love every aspect of golf; the simplicity of the game, and the complexity of it's execution.

Definately an awesome shot and a perfect way to finish the Open.

What to expect from lesson?
chris408 replied to scooterguitar's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Also looking for swing consistency, I'm in the middle of my lessons which is based on video instruction. I highly recommend it. I was able to see my stance, ball position, swing, and follow-thru at various angles. Based on what the pro saw he made some adjustments and I repeated as was able to see the changes immediately on video. The entire session was put on DVD so I can go back and review. The "homework" was taking what I learned from the lesson back to the range the next day, which was more difficult than I expected. Without immediate feedback from video and the pro, I found myself questioning my swing, especially when the ball wasn't going where I thought it should go. Instead of lessons every two week, I'm making them every week to hopefully help keep my swing changes on track. I think once I'm more confident with my swing, I'll spread the lessons out. Good luck on your lessons, and if video analysis is available, I highly recommend it. -
The local Golfsmith uses the same method but they use a small paint remover hot air gun. They take the stickers off for you... after you pay of course.
