  1. Aloha! I am flying into the bay area on Wednesday for about 10 days and was wondering if anyone needed a fourth player. All my buddies are working/spending time with family and cant escape to hit the course. I can guarantee a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts! If not, can someone suggest a good course for a mid handicapper? Thanks!
  2. If anyone is in Hawaii (Oahu) and wants to do a sandtrap Hawaii outing, count me in. Actually, even if you are not in Hawaii and want to get away from the cold of winter, fly on over!
  3. Had a co-worker who bought the sharper image version of these glasses and to say the least, they didnt work.
  4. I was playing over at the Kaneohe Klipper course about a year back and got hit by a ball. I was on my second shot on a par 5 so i pulled out my 3 wood and sized up where i wanted to set up my approach shot. I took aim and let one rip and the ball cut sharp into a palm tree about 30 yards to the right. It bounced off the palm tree and as fast as I hit the ball, it started coming straight right back at me waist high. My mind presented me with two options, duck or jump. And at the very last moment, i tried to jump and it me square in the thigh leaving me with a nice bruise. Does that count? :)
  5. I have been playing for about a year and a half now and in the recent months my game has just started coming together. I started out the year with the goal of breaking 90 and then hopefully staying consistent in the low 90's. I carded a few 90's and one day i shot in the 80's and kept pretty consistent in the mid 80's. With only 4 hours of sleep the night before, I went out with my golfing buddies and at the turn realized that I was 1 over. The pressure was on to keep it in the 70's. For full disclosure, the course i played was a par 70. At the end of the day i had 9 bogeys, 7 pars, and 2 birdies. Ironically enough I shot a 103 the week before and was ready to swear off golf! My golf goals for this year have exceeded my highest expectations. Now hopefully I can just keep carding low rounds.
  6. Good advice from everyone! It took me a while to get the "right" putter for me. I went through 2 or 3 before settling on my current putter. Having a name brand putter is great but what i found interesting was that I putt better with putter that I felt was aesthetically pleasing. I couldnt quite come to a real reason other than that I felt more confident when I liked the way the putter looked to me. Just like the other posters said, go to a big box store and grab any and all putters without looking at brand and have at it. Ultimately the right one will find you!
  7. Us High Handicappers are not losers! Just keep in mind that all the low handicappers that are making you feel this way were at one time a high handicapper!
  8. I try hard to play 4 to 8 rounds a month and that keeps me happy. It may not seem like a lot, but we dont have a "winter season", so 4 to 8 rounds a month is all year round. On a side note, my buddies and I did 4 rounds in one weekend (two on saturday and two on sunday) and by sunday night I said I didnt want to play for a month. Needless to say, we played golf the following week and contemplated 6 rounds the next time we had a 3 day weekend!
  9. So I was trying to hit a short par 5 in two today and have a decent drive I pulled out my Cally FT 5 wood and took a couple practice swings. While I was waiting for the the slow pokes ahead of us to get putt out, I flipped my wood over to clean the face with a towel and heard a rattle sound travel from the head to shaft. I thought I was hearing things and flipped it back down and heard it again. After shaking the club a few times, I started to realize that something was moving around in there. Is this some sort of weight or something that got lose? Could it have traveled from the head into the shaft of the club? Any ideas? Thanks!
  10. I think it definately helped me out with trying to create a smoother stroke. And when I am not able to sneak off to the range during the week, it seems to help keep me in form versus trying to bring out the flat stick 20 minutes before my weekend round. Plus its funny cause you start to learn all the breaks in your living room.
  11. So my golf buddies and I are all at the green and I have a long downhill slider to the cup. It was a windy day and there happen to be a large leaf behind the cup and I knew if I went long I would probably have hit the leaf and slowed down my ball. When one of my buddies went to pull the flag, I saw him motioning to grab the leaf and move it out of the way even though it was not in anyone's direct line to the cup. Anyhow, I told him to leave it there knowing that if i missed, i would probably run into. We all had a good laugh and sure enough I missed the cup and hit the leaf which probably kept it from rolling a good 4 feet. This was all in fun, but I guess my question is, would I have been obligated to move the leaf? Thoughts?
  12. I'll tell you that i have tried every type of repellent out there and I still get bit to high hell. The one thing I havent tried that I just saw on tv was that silly clip on scent device that has a little fan blowing out some form repellent. I dont think its meant to clip on to a person, but at this point i'll try anything. I can be with a group of six and while we are waiting at the tee box all the mosquitos will attack me and leave the rest of the guys alone.
  13. I have a set of each. In the CG-14's i have a 48,52,56,60 and in the 09 vokeys I have 48,52, 58, and 64. The vokeys definately spin more, but you cant discount the spin from the CG-14's. Aside from a little more bite from the vokeys, the club face is a bit more smaller than that of the CG-14's. I started out with the CG's and ended up playing the vokeys, so the transistion took a round or two to get used to the smaller face. Overall, both excellent wedges. My only concern in the long run is the "gel pack" or whatever cleveland calls it that is built in to absorb shock. But on second thought I am sure the face will wear out before the gel pack dries up...
  14. 1. FT-I makes a big noise (love it or hate it) The IQ does not 2. FT-IQ stock Fubuki is more whippy than stock FT-I Fujikura Speeder 3. FT-IQ has a lot longer body from front to back (face to back) - This makes set up a bit awkward if you like to rest the driver head on the ground. If you are a floater on setup, you should be fine. 4. FT-IQ face technology is a bit "hotter" off the face than FT-I 5. FT-IQ (non-tour) appears ridiculously more closed than FT-I (non-tour) - The FT-IQ tour still looks closed compared to the non-tour FT-I even though the IQ is supposed to be .5 degree open. 6. I found the FT-IQ amplifys a hook a lot more than the FT-I My buddy plays an FT-9 and he tends to slice. Thus the nicknames of FT-Hook for the FT-IQ and FT-Slice for the FT-9. I use to play an FT-I for about 6 months before switching to the IQ back in December. If i remember anything else, i'll try and post more...
  15. I had the exact same thing several months back. To make things I worse, I had an upper respitory infection which meant every time I coughed, it hurt like hell. Sneezing almost made me cry! Doctor said dont do anything for 6-8 weeks. I stopped cold turkey for 4 weeks straight and then did nothing but putted and chipped for 4 more weeks before playing a round of golf. My first round out in 8 weeks I shot the best score of my life. Dont hurt yourself and take it easy. The golf courses arent going anywhere...
  16. The show is fun to watch. He does have a lot of ideas and training aids so I just try and absorb what I think appeals to me. At the end of the show, there is always something I take into consideration. However, I hate how he's sold out to the website that you use to book tee times (I refuse to say the name). One per show would be fine, but two plugs for this website between each commercial set is way too much!
  17. I was out sick from work today and while nursing my fever I watched the whole thing. Pretty inspiring and overall fun flick to watch. And if you look hard enough you can catch stephanie sparks!
  18. Love it or hate, but I loved the sound of my old Callaway FT-I driver! (bracing for impact)
  19. I got my 22's new from Roger Dunns and they came witht he stock grips!
  20. I play a oddyssey black i-series #1 and I love it. I have been only playing just less than a year, and have gone through the playing musical chairs with half a dozen different putters including a couple no namers, an old school callaway tutle that I love and still have, and white hot xg two ball. My black i-series #1 has a great feel to it. I think the weighting on it is distributed nicely yet you can feel how heavy the putter face is. I have found that even when hitting a little off center, it doenst push or pull too far off the line. Feedback is good both through feeling through the hand as well as audibly when playing nicer balls. You definitely hear the click when playing a tp red/black. The stock grip has a nice soft feel to it, but sometimes I think it doenst have enough "grip" to it. Overall, i love this putter and intend on sticking with this one for quite some time.
  21. 5 wood, choke down 3 wood, or a solid 2 hybrid!
  22. Does she have a sister? :)
  23. Tiger woods!
  24. As if forgetting our wedges around the greens wasnt tough enough! Now they make them camouflage! Haha! I actually saw these at the local golf shop the other day and thought they were pretty cool!
  25. All my clubs are used except buying three of my four cleveland wedges. Grand total, $1650.
