  1. I agree with Nickent - I played the 3dx ironwoods for several seasons before retiring two of them this year. I still carry a 17 depending on course. Bridgestone is very much underrated as well. As for overrated, I can't say. What I think is overrated may be the score savior for another. I tend to believe anything heavily marketed is suspect, but if you are making money on a good product - you can pay more to advertise it.
  2. Angel Cabrerra
  3. I couldn't agree more. The name on the putter doesnt matter nearly as much as how you feel with it. I have a newport 2 that i swear i couldnt hit water with if standing on a cruise ship.
  4. function over form, stand bag, 14 dividers. Could care less about the rest. Also, given I have titleist, mizuno, ping, and odyssey in my bag (and sometimes Nickent/Cleveland) I would be hard pressed to match anything.
  5. I agree - and for those prices (
  6. I agree - I dropped the 2-ball for half a season with the sabertooth. I came back. Not because the sabertooth is a bad putter, but because I am more confident with the 2-ball.
  7. I am a fan. I want to see her do well. She had a tremendous amount of pressure put on her way to early. Its good to see her still sticking it out and not just packing it in.
  8. Congrats!
  9. I liked them too. They shred like butter after a well hit wedge, but I think for the money they are well worth it.
  10. Depends on where I am, but i will bump and run with a hybrid all the way up to a 7 iron.
  11. Mizuno irons. I can't imagine straying - and I have tried.
  12. I agree with all of the above, except that I like to see the best ball in the group ahead of me in the fairway before i tee off. I tend to be long off the tee box, longer then most of the better handicaps, but I get wild. Having pressure to hit one straight because I do not know if there is a better one in the group disrupts me mentally. Beer is key. Especially if you can buy throws!
  13. I cracked the same driver as well after about 18 mos of play. TM sent a brand new one over. Defiantly lost some distance with the crack.
  14. I agree completely. I was avid subscriber to Pelz and the more wedges the better theory, until I realized I never got good with any of them. Dropped the gap and the 64 in favor of two more options off the tee and from 230+, my 5 wood and the 19 hybrid. My short game actually got better. I have now gotten completely comfortable with my 54 from 115 to green.
  15. I am a vokey guy. Played clevelands 588s, CG11/12's for a long while but gravitated back towards the Vokeys. I am sure its mental but I trust those clubs and feel completely comfortable with that 54 or 60 in my hand.
  16. V1x - I tried not to like it as I have a tendency to gravitate away from mainstream, but its just a great ball.
  17. I did too until i went to one of those Dave Pelz short game clinics and got fitted. I went from a 35" flatstick to a 33" and 2 degrees upright on my lie. World of difference.
  18. I have a buddy that just picked up a new TM driver and was boasting about all of his 300 yard drives all of a sudden. Now granted, he was upgrading an original Big Bertha, but the guy was lucky to break 230 when he cranked it. I typically hit the ball about 280 all things considered and knew there was no way a club was adding 50 yards to that swing. So we played. After about the 3rd hole of my 280 vs his 245, he started swinging out of his shoes. I kid you not, he actually spun out of his spikes leaving two of them on the ground...three times. After the third time, the whole foursome just fell to the ground laughing. Next time I play with him, I swear I am taping it. YouTube here I come...
  19. I would be a drunk.
  20. i play the Nickent 3dx iw 17, 21.5, 26 - The only hybrid I would consider moving to is the Titleist.
  21. I got my irons because I have almost always been a Mizuno loyalist, My wedges because I havent found anything I liked as much as the vokeys, my hybrids because I fell in love with the Nickent 2IW and just kept buying them, my 3W because I can hit it and have confidence in it, and the driver + putter - well its love/hate (often on alternating shots).
  22. Never less then 18. Ever.
  23. Tobacco Road in NC. 73.2 and 150 - 10th hardest course by Golf Digest. It was very gimmicky. Worth playing once.
  24. I agree. Bounce becomes the question. Your gap wedge is probably a 52.10. If your traps are fluffy or you plan to hit it out of the deeper rough lies, you may compliment with a 56.14.
  25. i would probably do the 50* then the 56 Vokey spin milled for my SW
