  1. here's your winner. "BETHPAGE BLACKOUT STOUT" If you go with it you have to send me a bottle to sample. I'm also I home brewer.
  2. Two tips: 1. Patience 2. Get her lessons.
  3. Yeah, I agree with that. But that doesn't change the fact he's been over-hyped. I mean, if every fighter had the ability to pick and choose to only fight a guy because it fit his style, they'd all be great fighters. The true mark is the ability to adjust and the ability to hang with the best pound for pound fighters out there. Mayweather and Pacquiao have been called the best pound for pound fighter- and I think that's rightly so. People also tried putting Hatton into the best pound for pound dicussion and I don't think the guy has ever done anything to deserve that. When he's fought the best pound for pound, he was out matched in speed and power (and even the ability to take a punch). Again, I like the Hitman, I just think he's been built up way too much. Just my 2 cents.
  4. I have to disagree. When he's fought the best, his best just wasn't good enough. Mayweather and Manny flat-out mopped the floor with him. Sad to say, because I really wanted him to be the real deal. Love the guy as a person, he's just not what the hype said he would be.
  5. I think it's safe to say Hatton is one of the most overrated fighters to come along in a long, long time. Pacquiao is just in another class. It's very impressive how he's been able to add so much weight while maintaining all that speed. For a man his size, his power is just remarkable. I love Pretty Boy Floyd- but I quickly becoming a huge Pacquiao fan. That should be a great fight, but I think Manny's power takes over in that one too.

  7. A more knowledgeable and/or lower handicap player may tell you different but I would say you would need to get more consistent with your set up, and get more consistent with ball position for different clubs. Get your pre swing routine down and make sure you're setting up property and you should start making better and more consistent contact. Just my 2 cents.
  8. I'm thinking about buying one of those practice nets, but I'm wondering if I could just buy some netting and rig something up myself for a lot less than the $160+ price tag I've seen on most of those nets. Anyone know of a website that sells golf practice type netting?
  9. I'm with everyone else when they say it's really what works for you because every swing is different. But, for me, I rotate them a little on my backswing to allow myself to get the most shoulder turn I can, then start the downswing by rotating my hips through the ball. I was taught that's the proper way to do it. A lot of it depends on your level of flexibility. In order to get the full shoulder turn, less flexible people need to rotate their hips more in the backswing than some. I'm about middle of the road when it come to flexibility- something I've been trying to improve.
  10. Agreed. I was refering to fairways and drivers.
  11. This is a great tip here. My main swing flaw with the longer shafted clubs is coming in to steep so I really flatten out the swing plane. That allows for you to bring the longer shafts through square. Also, going along with this idea, take a look at how far up in your stance the ball is. I know it's a simple idea, but sometimes if I'm not conscious of it...I'll allow the ball to get way too much towards the middle of my stance with my driver, and especially with a fairway wood. Make sure it's up in your stance, even with your front heel. Both of these flaws cause me to either push the ball right, or really get a wicked slice.
  12. I do. I'm remodeling my basement, have a mortgage, and I'm still paying off an engagement ring...so the muni track right across the street from my house that charges $13 to walk 18 during their twilight special see's a lot of me. It's next to a small local airport, so it's flat with terrible drainage. The greens are burnt out by June, and they're actually doing a lot of upgrades (should be nice in a few more years) so about 1/2 the fairways have dirt lines where they've dug and placed drainage pipes. I can walk 9 for $9 any time I want though and it's about 1/2 mile away from my front door- I can't beat that access and it's good practice. I'm actually lucking enough to have a few really nice muni tracks in my area too, both used to be private at one point. It's $32 to walk 9 there though, and $20 during twilight. So I only play that once a month. A good course in my area costs about $80 to ride 18.
  13. Agreed, I know it's a lot easier for me to perform a much better swing when I'm just practicing- the mind can do funny things when you're actually hitting the ball.

    Steve Flesch?

I've only recently started to follow the tour, with my interest it in growing along with my passion for the game...so, what is Steve Flesch's deal? He obviously looked impressive at Augusta (I guess dropping an eagle from 140 out will do that), and seems to have a nice short game- but when I googled him I see he's been on tour since '97 and only has two career wins. Was that just a case of a guy's game coming together at the right time and in front of The Master's audience- or is his game really as good as it looked, and maybe he's a guy like an Adam Scott who just never really reached his potential? That was the first time I've ever heard his name- and it's sort of hard to forget.
  15. [QUOTE=wachesawgolfer;282982. Also, buy a Swingglyde, about 30 bucks off line or in a golf store. [/QUOTE] No way! I remember seeing these a long time ago, on some golf channel infomercial my dad was watching. I was young, but I have always thought that was a good traning aid to burn the proper swing plane into your muscle memory- didn't think they were still around. Thanks man.
  16. Thanks guys. I actually hit the ball straight fairly consistently for my level of experience. So I'm usually coming through square, so it might not be a good idea to start messing with this. But I think I'm not really cocking my wrists at all right now and it's costing me distance. I still get okay lenght out of my clubs, but my drives aren't traveling as far as they were, even last season. Right now a good drive for me is 240-250 last year it was more like 280.
  17. I don't think I'm using my wrists enough in my swing and it may be causing me to miss out on some power/distance. I've searched the forums here (didn't turn up much- probably not searching the right wording), as well as some online articles but I'm getting various info and most stuff google turns up are just webpages trying to sell a training aid or something... Really, all I've gotten out of it is that your wrists should cock in a motion like tacking a nail with a hammer and that it shouldn't happen too late in your swing. So when should I be doing it? Thanks for any help.
  18. I agre with everyone who said he doesn't really get the hype he deserves. He's solid all around, stays pretty cool under pressure, and has some solid victories under his belt. IMO he's one of the best and most consistent players on tour.
  19. I'm a Project Manager for the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development- don't blame me, I just work there and the benefits are good.
  20. Cink is a good bet. I'll go with Furyk. I actually live about 30 minutes from Firestone and wen the last two years...can't make it this year. I'm pretty bummed.
  21. Driver: 260-270 3 Wood- 225-230 3 Hybrid- don't know but I can hit my 5 wood about 200-210 7-iron 160
