Thanks for the post. He touches on a good point of how the ball is addressed. Myself being a higher handicap have always played the ball in regards of how much I wanted out of the drive. If it was a wide open fairway and a long par 5 I would nearly put the ball on the edge of my big toe on my left foot. If it was a tight fairway I would bring it inside my heel. Keeping it in the same exact spot would probably help with the inconsistancies or pushing them out to the right.

Longest Iron in Bag... And More
shfboyroddy replied to Reval14's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
5 iron all day long. I guess when I look at my hybrid or fairway wood I just have a lot more expectations and end up topping the thing or sending it the wrong direction. -
Alaska's Wolf Man by Jim Rearden Captivating story from a first person readers perspective. All info is from recorded conversations and info out of his diary and historical data from the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) . Frank Glaser, the man the book is about, moved to Alaska in 1915. While all the hysteria was built on gold, this man stuck to what he loved. Hunting, exploring, and living off of the land. The stories and life of this man really has a strong grounding effect on work ethics and determination as opposed to those today. It really makes you respect the men that built this country and the true sacrifices. 1918 he walked 220 miles!!! from Rapids AK to Valdez just to join the US Army to do his part for WWI!!

MIzuno Releases MP-15 at Open Championship
shfboyroddy replied to Deryck Griffith's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Principally questioning a fine group of common interest golfers who may have a background of playing these clubs, since I had already known the Companies history. There are great product lines that carry far larger historical value to different games. However, some fizzle out and some grow from nothing to something. If you were to go buy a new set of Mizuno irons right now you would pay just as much as any "taylormade" or "Callaway". So I guess I should have phrased my question differently......Possibly to; what has been the largest turning point of the marketing, design, performance ect.. of Mizuno clubs that makes them regarded in such a way that they can compete with these other time tested clubs. From browsing through this Forum there are lots of golfers not playing Mizuno. To a person playing Mizuno, what is it that makes you enjoy and rely on their product? Do you think switching to the MP-15 is a good 1000$ plan? (besides the point of having the latest and greatest?) -
Good stuff man hopefully you continue to get better and better... I really like the pointers and things to work on the moderators give:)

MIzuno Releases MP-15 at Open Championship
shfboyroddy replied to Deryck Griffith's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Does anyone have any history about Mizuno? I really like the looks of their clubs seen the commercials ect. But the last I have heard of Mizuno since recently in golf was...that was the baseball bat I used back in Jr. High -
I was in a tourney once 4 people. This one guy had a warmup and routine for every shot that would have put anyone to sleep... Do your thing and hit the freaking ball!!!. However, he played very well and was -2 under at the 7th... Now comes the 7th, 550ish yard par 5 elevated tee woods on the left and about 200+ to good landing area.(flat) This guy steps up and hits his first O.B. Lets everyone else hit......steps up and rockets #2 O.B. again... we all figure he is going to take a drop (line of flight he was hooking them out)...reaches in bag #3 teed up and deep into the woods again!!! He literally starts crying and the 3 of us are just at a loss of words and because how pompous he was could barely hold back laughing at him.....He finally hit a solid 5 iron and landed the flat. Good thing for our composure we didnt all laugh out loud until we walked off the tee in front of him going to our balls.......I am sure he heard us laughing but come on man you did it totally to yourself..

That is totally priceless!!!!! Hidden fees, raising APR... all the stuff that normal joe gets nabbed with all the freaking time. Internet info is amazing. I had a Mortgage that was transfered or bought out by another company. I was upset about the way the transfer went and the way that my payments were messed up ect. When I was going to access my info through their web site, I punched in the name of the mortgage company. Believe it or not like 5 search inquiries down on google there was a link to GREENTREE SUCKS facebook page. I clicked on it and read tons of testimonials and articles on how horrible that Finance company is....... Needless to say trying to find a way to ditch them quick lol

So I quit playing but occasionally hit balls
shfboyroddy replied to longbow's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I like to hit irons off of the mats. Even though I usually have a target I use those hits to get that feel of contacting the ball before the ground. You can really feel and tell the lift and the vibration of a well hit (ball first) shot vs a hit the ground shot alot better. Another thing I think a driving or practice range gives you that you can't do on a course is; experiment with swing speed and tempo, try drawing or fading the ball. You aren't going to be as focused on direction as much as trying to get the results you want. Maybe that is what you where seeing people do, or the fact that yeah hitting a golf ball is one of those things if it right it feels like a wonderful homerun swing....some people have to hit 50 crazy ones to get the one GREAT one? :) -
Looks like I will be another that tries to get into the Wheel of Time stories..... sounds like you have enjoyed it. The George Martin books where my first fantasy/fictional books I had read, and even though around book 3 he started to aggravate me, they were interesting and the build up of another world was essentially amazing.

That is exactly what brings everyone back to play even though the game can be downright rotten. lol The one good hit where it went exactly where you want it.

Should Divots Be Considered Ground Under Repair?
shfboyroddy replied to Foursum Golf's topic in Rules of Golf
I always wonder this when I watch tournament play ie. Masters, Players, Open.... I watch the drives and the ball run down and around the fairway through many of "divots"/ previous iron approach shot locations I wonder, do they ever replace divots during tourneys or do they just sand/seed them and then all of the divots are replaced by the course crew at the end of the day? -
I am also 6'3 with 38 wrist to floor. I have been 2 degrees upright for a long time. The best I can say to my abilities is go with what is most comfortable. I know just looking at the club lay flush and square at my setup has mentally helped my swing. I used to see the toe in the ground and wonder??? Some of the other discussions on stance and posture I have read in here have been a great starting point from changing my swing and possibly effecting my lie upon impact.... 0-4 degrees really doesn't seem that much to me until you put it into perspective that wow a small blade is hitting a ball sitting still at 80-115mph.....Lots going on besides what a machine or calacultion says you need for a degree of lie. I am seriously not a good golfer but I have hit low 80s on rentals at cheap courses. so alot of it is mindset and how much your enjoying yourself. IF you get or got a smoking deal admire those beauties and whack the crap out of em.

I know its horrible but I was young and dumb so I will write it off at that. My home course in highschool had turkeys, deer, and elk everywhere. The elk they dont mess around they take off.. The deer just hang, and the turkeys...um the turkeys where the most annoying thing ever. We would drop a couple of extra balls just to whack at em because they were such a nusance and annoying tearing up the greens and crapping all over the course.

Being prior military, 13 years U.S. Army (combat engineer) 3+ years in happy places.... I am not sure I support this topic as much as I would for areas where I golf. (northwest). There are bears and cougars and other wildlife that has a mind of its own and I know I have had a couple times where I wish I had a pistol. With that being said to me there is a major difference between open carry and concealed carry. I know everyone has a stigma about a weapon in plain sight, but that is the wonderful part about it. Think of kids in school when a law enforcment officer comes in. What is the first things they notice. Yeah nice pressed uniform, badge, and haircut....ahhh oh yeah they visibly have a service pistol hanging on their hip and those nice shiny things called cuffs..... Nobody in their right mind wants anything to do with that stuff. Now as adults you have knowledge and you know the capabilities ect. of this weapon. You hold that person and the responsibility they possess in high regards. Concealed weapon (on public course), you have now intruduced mind altering decision, fear, and indecisivness. Once brandished openly. Could it be the best form of protection? Possibly against a drunk 3 foot club weilding idiot ..... Is that going to be something that is going to haunt you for many years to come including court battles ect. Take the high road, play smart ,play safe and remember you dont always have to use force on force....

Driver shaft length too long for most players
shfboyroddy replied to Motley01's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I am not a fitter, But I have you at 45.30" with a 57 lie driver. How long is your driver now? (trickyputt) I didnt actually go to a custom fitter I had my measurements from THOMAS golf. I am not sure the lie degree, but the thing comes in at an even 46". Such a huge contrast to my 44" taylor made that was maybe 280? cc.... I could hit the ball a country mile on good days with it. I am currently playing a 440cc at the length (46")and I am liking the sound and the feel but I am nowhere near as accurate or as far with it. My normal fade is inconsistant and sometimes far more bending than a "fade" lol -
Bogey Golfers Only (Index 16-22) / Breaking 90 Topic
shfboyroddy replied to rkim291968's topic in Golf Talk
Being a bogey golfer sucks when you play on a super nice course and there are Condos and Expensive homes everywhere so you are afraid to open up and let loose on almost all of your shots in fear of hitting a window or car or worse......I played on a beautiful course in montana here about a week ago. I was able to shoot a 91 on a 72 course... Played great on low pressure (no homes, wider fairways, par3s) but the long narrow house lined ones.....thank goodness for a straight/fade 5 iron:) -
