  2. I'm off to Devon next week. My wife bought me a 3 hour lesson with Mark so I'll post up a review! To me he comes across as down to earth and what you see is what you get. His love of the game really comes across in his videoes and vlogs. I'm really looking forward to it.
  3. I clean my entire set with a mild soap solution and warm water after every round or range session. I use an old toothbrush, cleaning cloths and elbow grease to keep them clean. I also clean down my bag and head covers. Straighten out all the pockets and restock tees etc. I hate it when my bag doesn't look pristine. In the harsh UK winter weather that takes some doing. In the summer I'll be washing down my trolley more regularly too. #anal #OCD
  4. Hit this club in my local American Golf store yesterday. Averaging about 230 carry which for me is very good. My i20 averages around 215. Going to try and convince the wife I need to bag this bad boy.
  5. I've been a fan for about a year or so. I like the fact that he doesn't take it too seriously at times.
  6. I started Yoga 4 weeks ago. Started mainly to increase my flexibility and my core strength. However, I now realise that if you really commit to executing the moves properly with the correct breathing it's actually a full body toning and flexibility workout. The relaxation breathing exercises to start and finish are a serious bonus too. Discussed with the instructor about sorting out a golf specific routine to practice at home in between lessons.

  8. Strong lofts and a bit longer than standard too. However, I love the look of them.
  9. Played my first round with these balls the other day. Shot my best score too. First drive off the tee was surprising given how soft these feel. Came off the face like a much harder ball. Nice flight too. It's around the greens that these balls shine. They are buttery soft, like the old balata balls. On the green they rolled really well. Definitely my new ball for this season. I was a little worried about the durability but after a full round with the same ball I couldn't see a deal of difference between that ball and the rest of the three pack in my bag! I am seriously impressed. Given its price point it's got to be worth a look imho.
  10. I've noticed I tend to stand very square to the ball and as I have a bad back I struggle to get a full shoulder turn. Perhaps flaring my feet more will give me a little extra flexibility.
  11. My Ping O-Blade putter. It's pretty beat up from being abused when I was a youngster but my dad bought it for me and it's been in my bag ever since. Love you dad and see you at the great gig in the sky someday.
  12. Recently watched a review of the new balls and the spin and distance look good if the price is to believed. Will putting a dozen of these in the bag when they land mid Jan.
  13. I'm not so sure. I've met some stuck up prats who think the slightest violation of the rules is an earth shattering event.
  14. Just because you make someone answer a few question doesn't mean they will replace every divot or repair a pitch mark. I've seen some experienced players make a total hash of repairing pitch marks!
  15. A combination of Hall, my surname, and Ryu. Ryu meaning school in Japanese. I created the username years ago when I was heavily into martial arts. I use the same username everywhere on the interweb!:-)
  16. It's a no for me. Is there any other sport that makes noobs take an exam before playing? The question is probably routed in the misplaced elitism that pervades this sport. It would be a shame if the sport was the preserve of the conforming few to the exclusion of others. I'm very well aware of the rules and the etiquette required, but if I was forced to take a test first I would not at all be interested.
  17. Having a spoon in the bag is a must for every golfer IMO. Sometimes driver just doesn't go where we want it to and a three wood just gives you that confidence to hit a good length tee shot without the need to play a provisional!
  18. Very interesting thread. I have made quite a few swing changes recently so I'm going to let those settle in before trying to move my hips as described but I'm encouraged by some of the positive comments from those that have tried to incorporate this movement in to their swing.
  19. The game is expensive as it is. If people are swayed into buying expensive custom shafts then it's going to be even more expensive (for them). I've been following MC's videos for a while now and I'm inclined to believe him. For most of us strike is far more important than a shaft will ever be.
  20. A fee months ago I would have said pitching wedge but now I've all but eliminated my slice I'm loving my new SLDR driver. Whilst I'm a little off being able to hit the fades and draws you guys discuss i am enjoying hitting it straighter and further than I ever have before. Highlight for me was hitting the front right of the green off the tee on a 289 yard hole recently.
  21. Now I've seen more of his videos and read some more blogs I'm beginning to see where some of the folks are coming from here. I would also like to see more real ball data!
  22. Happy to join. I've been practising for a few months and had my first full round last week. I shot a respectable 92. Last time I played was 22 years ago, I'm now 41 years old. Last time I played i was young, supple and THIN! Now I have an arthritic lower back, two flat feet and a well nourished body! I've been working with a pro for about a month. I've cured my slice, but now a few shots are going left. The best thing about curing the slice is the increase in distance I've got from all my clubs. I'm working on a consistent swing, keeping that slice at bay and hopefully getting in to the mid 80's.
