I've been using Nicorette gum for about 7 years (It's a 6 week program). During my annual physical I told my doctor that I was going to start smoking so I could quit the gum.

I notice that some of you use iron covers to reduce chatter. We've already given up the sound of real spikes on the cart path. Sometimes I miss real golf.

I have lived my life by a few simple rules: 1) Do what you say your going to do. 2) If someone offers you a breath mint, take it. 3) Life is too short to wear cheap shoes. That said, I recently found a great deal. I have a white and a black pair of Dryjoys. The model I wear lists for $170 and typically sells for $140. I wanted an extra pair of whites for summer (I play 4-5 times a week). I went to "Golfshoesonly.com" and looked at their "Blemish" section. The had my model in several color combos for $85 with free shipping. I took a chance. They arrived in 48 hours and, for the life of me, I can't find the blemish.

Timely subject. I'm in my 50's. Until 1998 I played with contacts. Then I paid $4,000 for Lasik surgery (I know it's cheaper now). I was told the fix was permanent. This week I had to get glasses(what is permanent anyway?). I ordered Transition lenses. We'll see...no pun intended.

I was 5 over through 14 holes (not bad for my Index). On 15 I was middle of fairway/165 to pin. Finished DB, DB, DB, DB...85.

Back in the 90's I switched from graphite shafts on my irons to steel. Since then, I can always tell how well I hit the ball now from my elbow. If I hit it pure, fine. If I mishit the ball my elbow hurts that night. The docs will tell you rest is the best fix for tendonitis, but then you miss golf. Try Naproxian. I now have some tendonitis in my left knee (Right handed = left knee/right elbow) so I take a couple before I play and a couple after. It helps.

My club has a 2 part rule for playing the senior tees: 1) Minimum age of 70 2) Combination of age + handicap must equal a minimum of 85.

I was just wondering how many of you play for money and, if so, what kind of stakes? To me, a little wager is a healthy thing. I'm in my 50's and retired so I play quite a bit. Here are my regular games and stakes: Tuesday Blitz: $5 Wednesday Blitz: $2 Thursday Blitz: $5 Friday Blitz: $2 Saturday Blitz: $10 (heavy) Sunday Blitz: $5 The Wednesday & Friday's are run by our pro shop on a points/quota system with any winnings going to pro shop credit. Incidently, and talking about big money, last Wednesday I played in our year end Senior Mens tournament. There was no entry fee as the event was covered in our annual dues ($25). There were 28 players and I came in second winning $5 and a hat. Take that Tiger!

Each hole on the card is assigned a handicap. 1 being the hardest, 18 being the easiest. My question is, who assigns these handicaps?

I'm with glebert. A few years ago I switched from graphite to sttel on my irons. To this day, when I hit the ball well I have no problem. When I hit the ball poorly my elbow is really sore that night. I just got fitted for new irons and stuck with steel.

I belong to a private club where most people walk. To solve the divot mix problem we have heavy duty neoprene footlockers at the first, tenth, and a couple other tees. In the lockers are divot mix and empty GatorAde bottles. Fill a bottle with mix, put it in a pocket on your bag and you're ready to go. Include such a suggesstion in your letter and turn a negative complaint into a positive suggestion.

I keep mine warm with flannel boxers.

People who do not fill divots. I belong to a private club that gets much less play than any public course. Our course is closed until noon on Mondays. On a recent Monday about 12 of us volunteered for a "Divot Party". We started on #1 Tee and went through 18 holes and used over 400 pounds of divot mix. We have divot mix refill stations on #1, #3, #7, #10, #13, & #16.

Anyone using any tube bag needs to be prepared to replace a lot of grips. Stick with cutains.
