I broke 100 the first time I played. I had a month or two of range time before that, though. 90 took about two months, 80 took about 9.

During the summer I played 4 times a week...until my shoulder started acting up. I took a swing one day and I thought I'd been stabbed. I had to take a few weeks off after that, but it was just some kind of strain that cleared up and hasn't bothered me since. So I'm going to say 4 times a week is a little much for me.

Unfortunately in my experience I've ended up with Top Flite X-outs and gimmick tees as golf related christmas gifts

Check with the course - see if they have one of those "at your own risk" signs. That guy doesn't want to go to court because he knows he'd get railed.

As much as I would enjoy taking racquetball, I'd much rather have a course where I get to play nine holes once a week on a course that hosts SEC championships and Nationwide events for a grade

For me it's a mixture of things...below 45, windy, rainy. If it's 2 of those three I won't play. Otherwise I can make it.

I'm looking for something to break up the monotony of major classes next semester so I'm gonna get a degree requirement out of the way at the same time. We have three PE courses in golf: beginner, intermediate, advanced. Has anyone ever had a golf PE class? I want to get an idea of the skill level in those three. Obviously I'm not a beginner, but I don't want to look like an ass in an intermediate course either. I'm going to ask the guys at the driving range but I just wanted to get a general opinion first.

Equipment pricing realization
JawjaDawg replied to Livestrong's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yeah, a tour ball would be detrimental to your game then. Look at Wally World for deals - TaylorMade makes good cheaper balls, and Noodles are perennial favorites around these parts. -

If you're a 36 I'd invest in Noodles. -
Yup, my thoughts too Dub. http://www.scorelow.com/item--Adams-...MWATSON09.html That's what they were, so I know they're the 2009 model. Interesting that the price is $20 lower than I've seen anywhere else though, and thirty lower than that site.

Anyone buy these? I'd love to have the money to drop on a threesome of Vokeys but I have to worry about eating right now. There's a set of Tom Watson wedges at a local shop going for $79. 52*-56*-60*. I don't know much about them though...can anyone enlighten me?

I play with a guy who dabbles in the long drive competitions. I've seen him hit some ridiculous drives. The one that really sticks out in my mind was when he drove the green on a 380 yard par 4 that was freaking uphill. He makes me feel like an eighty year old.

Anyone got a Ogio O-Zone stand bag?
JawjaDawg replied to Hokie2k5's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have one that's a few years old. Nice bag. It's light and comfy on your back, tons of pockets, and cheap. I only have two qualms with it - it doesn't stay put very well on a cart and the legs aren't very steady. My bag has been blown over by a gust of wind two or three times. The first problem is just the cost of having a stand bag, however. -
lostgolfballs.com AAA 100 ball bucket?
JawjaDawg replied to golfnuub's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I've got not problem playing with AAA Pro V1s. I bought ten dozen and only stuck about 10-15 in the practice bag. -
Stiff flex shaft for slow swing speed?
JawjaDawg replied to ToddziLLa's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Getting fitted is the way to go. Someone at a local golf shop once told me that Ping says if you hit a five iron farther than 150 yards you should use a stiff shaft...take that as you will, and still go get fitted. -
So I finally found a Gamer on the course and gave it a shot. I hit it on a short par 3 and it was fine. It wasn't bad at all. Then I hit it on a long par 5 with a pretty tight landing area and discovered that this sucker does not want to work with me. I had been hitting a consistent power fade that day and it went straight as a freaking arrow, right into the woods. I teed up a Pro V1 and stuck it in the middle of the fairway with the nice fade that I'm used to. So yeah, I'm sticking with Titleist.

You've just gotta drop putts. You've certainly got a chance with a team like that. Make sure you've got a shot in the fairway then let that big hitter put some red ass on the ball.

I play in scrambles every week through the summer. The local muni hosts them on Thursday nights. It's nine holes and $5 to play, so whatever. -7 usually ties/wins. Pays about $70/person to the winning team. Each team has an A, B, and two C players by handicap. I absolutely love them.

How Hard Is a 2 Iron to Hit?
JawjaDawg replied to maraca2020's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've gamed a two iron for a while and it wasn't a pleasant experience. I'd take a hybrid over it any day of the week. -
I hear it all the time...maybe you're just not listening or you've got a loud course? It's easy to hear.

About 95% of my practice time is dedicated to 100 yards and in. Being able to get up and down changed my game immensely.
