  1. As a relative beginner, you won't get the benefit of the ProV1. Way too many golfers play balls that aren't right for them simply because of the 'cool' factor or because others play them. Try a ball like the Titleist NXT Extreme, or the Callaway HX Hot for a high quality ball at a decent price.
  2. I'm just curious why someone with a 17+ index is playing ZB's? The AP1's seem like a much better fitting iron? But on the topic of the irons, even if they have 50 rounds in them instead of 5, there's plenty of golf left in them. Irons are very durable, even if they look worn down there's a lot of golf in irons. You should be able to play irons for several years. Besides even if the original owner of these got them the second they were released, he's had them BARELY for a year if that. So I'd say you got a good deal overall, even if they weren't exactly what you were thinking they were.
  3. Not really. I don't attach any meaning to it. Besides it was last round, what affect does that have on my next round tomorrow?
  4. I've got that putter in the trunk of my car. I really liked the feel of the putter, but for me the lack of a sight line was throwing me off. Visually, I like to have something to square the ball up to. It's a good putter though, enjoy.
  5. I'm at 1 right now. Haha, I 3-putted my second to last hole yesterday, so that's my streak right now.
  6. Excellent comparison. You get what you pay for, simple as that.
  7. Played 9 holes yesterday after work. Shot 38. Not bad, considering I had two 3-putts.
  8. I echo the comments of the others. The force you'd have to impart on the shaft/head is no where near enough to bend either the clubhead or the shaft. You'd have to be putting just about all your weight on the club while washing it to do something. So unless your clubs are extremely dirty I don't think it's affecting it.
  9. Both Titleist and Nike offer their 'Staff' bag for sale without other company logo's on them. http://www.titleist.com/accessories/...82_cartbag.asp If you want one, I would suggest going to your local shop and ordering one as most shops aren't going to stock them.
  10. So I met with several reps today and saw the new lines from Titleist, Cobra and Nike. Here's a list of what I saw: Titleist 909D Driver Series (D-Comp, D2, D3) Titleist 909F2, 909F3 Fairway woods Titleist 909H Hybrid 09 Vokey BV wedges Scotty Cameron Fastback, Squareback and the new Newports Cobra L5V Driver Nike Dymo Driver I liked the layout, and family of the new 909's, this is the first time they're going to be releasing a whole "family" of clubs at the same time since the old Starship series in like 1992! I was surprised that it's been that long, but it's true that everything has been 'al la carte.' I really liked the look of the D3, being a smaller head it really looks clean. I think the D-Comp is going to be very popular especially as a replacement for the 907D1, which was a bomb. The new Vokey's are beautiful clubs, and they're offering a much bigger variety of lofts/bounces. Lofts available are 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62, and 64. They're all available with Spin Mill, as opposed to the current line which doesn't offer Spin Mill above a 54. The Cameron, Squareback and the Fastback look very nice. They both set up very cleanly, and square up nicely with the line. Very soft feel. I'll probably be picking up a Squareback here shortly. The L5V, in my opinion looks much better than the L4V. The "5th" variable is an adjustable shaft which changes the shaft angle depending on the head, from square to 1* closed, 1* closed to 2* closed, or 1.5* closed to 2.5* closed. It also has an adjustable weight in the back which is changeable based on the shaft weight. I also saw the Nike Dymo line. The big change is their Straight-Fit technology which is along the lines of the Cobra. The shaft is adjustable in up to 8 different configurations, to give options of closed, open, upright, or flat. I'll definitely be picking up the 909 line when we get our Sure-Fit cart supplies and find my right combo.
  11. I was introduced to the game when I couldn't even walk. We have family pictures of me in diapers sitting on the floor swinging a club before I could even stand up. I played golf and baseball until I was 12, then gave up golf to play baseball more competitively. That lasted until I was 17-18 when I decided to go back to golf, and played my senior year in high school. From there I got serious about it and got down to about a 2 handicap. I played until I was 21 or so and then took about 3 years off while doing some different things. I picked it back up again about 1.5-2 years ago and have since been back taking it seriously. I just wish that in my 40+ hours spent at the golf course a week, I had more time to spend practicing/playing.
  12. It was most definitely assembled wrong. We have that same Titleist Fitting cart and when it's put together correctly it's just like an actual club. I'd say go back, and have someone else put one together for you.
  13. I often tell members, or friends of mine that play, when they talk about getting mad over golf. I tell them, straight faced "You're not good enough to get mad." Unless you're getting paid to play golf, you have no reason whatsoever to get upset over golf. It's a game. Grow up and get over yourself. That's how I look at it.
  14. The biggest thing I've found when regripping clubs, and they've been tough to put on is lack of solvent. At our shop we simply use paint thinner. It's cheap and works great. I've regripped hundreds of clubs and simple double sided grip tape, and paint thinner is what works for us.
  15. I'd gladly give up 10-15 yard average in exchange for your index. I used to be down to a 1-2 about 3-4 years ago and have had trouble getting enough consistent play in, to bring my index down. I easily hit the ball that far, it's the accuracy that suffers at times. I've hit it well the last 2-3 times I've been out so hopefully I've got things together.
  16. No offense intended, but that seems like the stupidest rule I've ever heard of.
  17. Haven't really paid much attention. Somewhere in the 330-340 range, but I'd say I average 290~
  18. Sounds like an obsession to me. But there could be worse ones, that's for sure. I'm thankful I live in CA and it's golf season almost year round.
  19. I'll be seeing them in a couple of weeks from our rep, and getting mine shortly thereafter. Looking forward to it.
  20. Can't say she does it for me.
  21. I think I currently have 5-6 balls in it right now. That's about average. I have a box of 6 dozen ProV1x that I pull from when I need them.
  22. I've begun to hit a draw as I find the ball flight more consistent. I can typically hit a fade/draw at will most of the time. It's the times that I can't that get me into trouble.
  23. Something is definitely fishy with that site. One thing stands out to me as it not being legit: Ping. They advertise Ping clubs WAY below MAP pricing. If anyone knows Ping as a company they do not tolerate their clubs being sold below their specified pricing. They shut down accounts left and right that do not abide by their pricing. That tells me that this site is hocking a bunch of stolen goods, or fakes that it's getting from somewhere. There's no way a legit company would be able to keep it's accounts open otherwise.
  24. Doubt it's a tour issue, you're not just going to find one of those on the shelf in some shop. It sounds like a Studio Design, can you find a picture of what it looks like online somewhere. Or at least one similar?
  25. I'd say you're pretty safe buying from CallawayPreOwned.com, since it's a site owned and operated by Callaway Golf itself.
